God that hurts. That didn't even need to happen.
|
I read somewhere he got taken to the hospital.

I'm not so proud of you guys glorifying that hit.
Had it happened on third and long in the middle of the game, maybe. But that play was completely useless, and to clock a guy like that after the game is basically over, not cool. |
St. Louis had no business running that play. Knight wasn't trying to injure the guy, either. Great hit, but it was clean and there was no intent to injure, IMO.
|
It looks worse every time ya watch it.

Maybe your ****ing coach should have let the clock run out instead of trying to pick up a garbage TD with 7 seconds... |

Just about the same thing. And don't make me mention Trent. Yeah, I favor our guys over any opponent, but to applaud a potential life threatening hit on a guy? :shake: Chris Simms could have easily died had he not gone to the hospital when he did. These guys are out there potentially ruining their ability to have a "normal" rest of their life. Show some respect. |
No one is glorifying that. But if that it was T.O. or Rod Smith or something I would be.

Hit em like you own em .......

I agree with what you're saying, but I know when to hold back when you see a guy get his clock cleaned. |
Knight was playing his position and playing full speed. Honestly, that's what he should be doing. It was a nasty hit, but it wasn't as if he was trying to hurt the guy; he was playing his assignment.
|
I guess he was kinda pissed by the injuries we were taken today...
|
That was FREAKIN AWESOME- the Lambs fans were boring and Chiefs were cheering. Several times the lambs fans booed their own team.

How else do you propose 2 people running that fast come to an amicable stop, helmet to the knees so there's little doubt it is dirty? He had the angle, used his shoulder, and they both went out of bounds. His QB hung him out to dry, might as well have been over the middle. |
That hit was the direct result of a pointless pass play and I'm not going to blame Knight for doing his job.
|
Best ending to a Chiefs game that I have seen in awhile...
but then again, Im a bit classless and deranged. |
The hit was just fine...hell remember it next time we play them
|
Holy good god. Helmet to helmet??
|
I just wish Sammy would do that when it actually mattered. That kind of hit makes a statement.
|
You gotta finish strong
|
That was a beautiful hit just the way the game was meant to be played.
|
The play right before that was the same exact play... It was REALLY clear that the safeties were licking their chops and running full speed, but the ball was over thrown. I said, out loud, at the time that they shouldn't be throwing that ball. That the safeties are playing over the top, and they'll get their recievers killed. Then they ran the exact same play again, and got their guy licked. That's on the Rams O/C and head coach. Not on Sammy.
I'd be singing a different story he had led with his helmet though, or if the ball was uncatchable. But this was a clean shot. |
Quote:
Nah shoulder to the entire side of his body, said it ****ed his ribs up... Good clean hard hit... |
Why wouldn't they just run the clock out and end it??? Why even go to the air in that situation??? Great hit!
|
Quote:
First off, Chris Simms was hit repeatedly that day so don't use that as a crutch. Second, blame Bulger and the Rams. They ran the exact same play the play before. Knight knew where they were going again. He's paid to play until the last play of the game. That's his job. "Ruining their ability to have a normal life," are you listening to yourself? These guys are football players. When you get paid to play football, you sacrifice your body. I guess if the Rams just ran the ball on the last play, and a linebacker laid a huge hit on the RB, you'd have a problem with that, too. |

Wham! Pow!
Great solid hit. Maybe the NFL should have a rule where you can't hit hard on the last play of the game. Ummmm, no. Lambs should have just folded instead of calling that play. |
Check out that initial reaction by that coach/trainer standing to the right of the victim: aghast with shock or bursting with laughter?
YOU MAKE THE CALL! |
that hit was the cherry on top of an ass kicking sundae...
|
Jacked up. The fans at the game around us were pissed.

Its also worth mentioning that sometimes those hits just happen when you're not really looking for it. If you catch a guy mid stride when hes got no footing he's gonna get ragdolled, hit him the same way when hes got a foot planted and he'll go down but not quite like that.
Either way, its football, so stfu. |

What that hit was;
Good clean old fashioned football hit, which sends a statement to the Rams, don’t try that weak crap on us. What that hit was not; Cheap Shot, Dirty or head headhunting. Tiny if you are offended by good clean football the way it was meant to be played, your best bet is to find a new sport to follow. Also the St. Louis Rams since the days of Mike Martz are notorious for pointlessly sacrificing the offensive players (qb’s included |
Should be number 1 tonight on
JACKED UP!!!! |

It's football, not soccer. Deal with it. That hit was 100% CLEAN. |

And if the Rams didn't want their WR to get LAID OUT, don't run that ****ing play when the game is over anyway... |

Said this on another thread, but I'll repost here:
That's like getting shot in your trench on Armistice Day. Clean, legal hit. In bounds, all shoulder, no helmet-to-helmet. I felt sorry for Curtis, but only because his team laid him out. |

Looks like I'm catching a lot of flak, let me clarify: I'm not saying it was a cheap shot. And I agree that Rams were dumb calling that play. I'm just saying that jumping up and down and clapping your hands when a guy is kneeling on the ground with little tweey birds flying circles around his head ain't my thing. You guys have a right. A lot of people wasch NASCAR for the crashes.

I didn't see Knight doing that. The only thing the video showed was someone pat his helmet. And walking off the field. |

Why exactly would someone think that was unneccessary?
From Pop Warner on, you're taught to play the same from the opening kickoff until the clock reads 0:00. Pretty stupid play on the Rams part. Down 14 with one play left, why not kneel on it? If they wanted to pad Bulger's stats that bad, or try to score to make the final look a little more respectable, they could/should have thrown a hail mary deep down the sideline/middle. I've watched football for 30+ years....never seen someone get laid out ottempting to catch a hail mary. Even the Rams fan I was with thought it was a great hit and that Linehan's a f'n idiot. |
For what it's worth:
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/spo...C?OpenDocument Bad ending for Curtis Curtis' longest reception of the day, a 23-yarder on the game's final play, came at a price. Curtis was drilled along the Kansas City sideline by Chiefs safety Sammy Knight and needed a few minutes to get up. As the Chiefs left the field after the game, most of the Rams' squad gathered around Curtis to make sure he was OK. With St. Louis trailing by 14 at the time, all Knight needed to do was push Curtis out of bounds to end the game. But he went in for the kill shot instead. Was that necessary? "I don't know how he went about that play," Curtis said. "I didn't see him at all, obviously. I don't really have much comment on that. It is football, and I guess he's got a job to do, too." Curtis has had problems with concussions and migraines in the past, but said, "It wasn't my head at all. He just got me pretty good in the ribs. The biggest thing was I just couldn't catch my breath for a good little while." The injury, described as bruised ribs by Linehan, isn't thought to be serious. |

JACKED UP!!!!!!!!!!! |
Quote:
There were no more than 10 Rams players that stayed with Curtis. And I'm being generous. No one else came over, they all went straight to the room. Great teammates, huh? |
If you don't like to see big hits and people sometimes getting hurt, watch tennis instead.
|
What day do they show the hits of the weekend 'on all jacked up' ?

If this happened to a Chiefs player...tinyevel would be making posts left and right about how the lambs owned the Chiefs on that hit.
Was it clean? Yes Did they have to run that play with no chance to win? No Blame the Rams coaches.. |
Was that the Knight-train coming back, and to the left?
|
every player there signed up for 60 minutes of football and i guess they got thier monies worth, play it all out till the end, dont hold nuttin back make em pay for that stupid call.

All Knight did was push him out of bounds.

I can't understand why all you guys think I'm such a pu$$y for not celebrating the hit. Bad play call, yes. Clean hit yes. I just think it wasn't necessary to nail the guy so hard in the game sitch. That's all. Just my opinion.
Plus: my book club AND the guys on my badminton squad all agree with me. Just like they agreed that The English Patient is the best movie ever! :thailor: |

I can't believe we actually rushed the passer or had players in coverage. I mean, the game was basically over, so why did we even bother, or something?!?

Why arent' they conceding and running the ball, instead of putting their player at risk? It was a clean hit, they shouldn't have been running it. |

i see what ur saying tiny, it was a brutal brutal hit that was completly unnecessary. but hey, it's football man, valiant does have a point they shoulda just kneeled down. It's their fault as much as knights
|
Bleh. The guy is fine. Hopefully we see this on jacked up.
|
So...if we make it on Jacked Up tonight that's 2 weeks in a row. What does that tell you about our mentality? :-) I don't remember being on there once in the past, instead we were the ones getting jacked.
|
I was at the game. It seemed as if the folks running the PA kept trying to drown out the Chiefs fans. The Rams fans booed several times during the game.
That hit was the last play of the game and would not have changed the outcome whatsoever. The play clock expired and everyone ran onto the field while Curtis was being tended to on the sidelines. It was almost as if he didn't exist. I believe he spent the night at the hospital under observation because of a rib injury. |
It also seemed like on the final 2-3 plays of the game the CB's were playing real loose and giving the WR a lot of space. Almost as if to bait them in and setting the safeties up to lay the lumber.
