Zardoz
What a freaky movie, man. Wow. Lots of shooting of innocent people, bare Caucasian women's breasts, and green bread.
The special effects are kind of dated, though. That's why I wish they would do a remake of this movie. Since our season is sort of on the ropes and we've almost filled out the entire "where did this player come from?" thread, I thought I would ask the one question that is on everyone's mind. What movie would you like to see remade with all the new, crazy technolgies available to today's filmmakers? One movie per poster, please. I wouldn't want to see this highly interesting thread go over 100 posts for Mr. Skip Towne's sake. FAX Disclaimers: Sorry if repost |
I was thinking about this a while back but now I forgot what movies I chose. I need to start writing things down.

Casablanca all done in Mime.

Zardoz -- one of my fav cult classics. For some reason, I've always been drawn to that movie. Maybe it's Sean Connery in a diaper.
John Boorman had to have been dropping acid. |
Zardoz, is that the one with James Bond decked out in a banana hammock and bandaleros?
EDIT: that's the one. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Zardoz_zed.jpg |

BTW, that was the first PG movie I saw. |

Sounds like Skip Towne...
An 85-year-old man went to his doctor's office to get his prostate and other parts checked out. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, "Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow." The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day. The doctor asked what happened and the man explained: "Well, doc, it's like this -- first I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, then her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out and still nothing. We even called up Arleen, the lady next door, and she tried, too, first with both hands, then an armpit and she even tried squeezing' it between her knees, but still nothing." The doctor was shocked, "You asked your neighbor?!" The old man replied, "Yep... None of us could get the jar open!" |

I'd like to see Sam Raimi or someone of his caliber have a shot at the remake. I don't know who would play Sean's role, though. Maybe the guy in Sin City who tried to bury the guy's head in the tar pits but it didn't work. FAX |
Logan's Run
A little truer to the book would be nice, too. |

Starship Troopers. I want someone to make it so that it doesn't suck. Maybe by actually doing a movie based on the book instead of masturbating with a camera.

Rather than remaking an old one I'd like to see some of my favorite sci-fi books made into movies. There are a shitload of books and book series that would be great. The Lensmen series by Doc Smith, for one. I saw an ad for a midnight showing of an anime movie based on Lensmen back in the early 90's but I didn't have a chance to go and have never found it again. Almost anything by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Almost any book by Robert Heinlein.

I still watch those movies just for that. |
Ray Harryhausen was the shit, no doubt, but I'd still like to see them update it. A Clash of the Titans remake is in order, too.

Maybe "The Omega Man" would be good. We can do a lot better with deformed, nocturnal zombies today as compared to 30 years ago.
You could do some good CGI stuff with apocolypic biological weapons and unpleasant microbes and things, too. FAX |

I also think that "Creature From The Black Lagoon" would be worthy of consideration.

How about "The Valley of Gwangi"? You can't go wrong with cowboys and dinosaurs.

Y'know, I was 10 back then, I was just smitten with that movie and especially Ms. Agutter (remember, this was considered state-of-the-art sci-fi, pre-"Star Wars"). Anyway, I saw that movie something like five Saturdays in a row. My folks would drop me off at the library next door, I'd flip through some books for half an hour, then walk across the parking lot to the theater and watch "Logan's Run." I even owned the soundtrack album. |

Excellent suggestion! |
The nice thing about Jenny Agutter was she was never shy about doing nude scenes, starting with "Walkabout" when she was 18. She was nekkid in "Logan's Run," "Equus," "China 9, Liberty 37" (HOT!HOT!HOT!) and "American Werewolf in London."

I thought this was a BBQ thread. I had to go back and check the thread title again. Damnit.
