Easy 6 12-13-2006 06:56 PM

Heh!!!

Doesnt really surprise me though, i cant think of another QB who ever ranted at his guys like Dan did.

'Hamas' Jenkins 12-13-2006 06:59 PM

That is AWESOME!!

CtrlAltDel 12-13-2006 07:00 PM

Was that live or a taped show?

CtrlAltDel 12-13-2006 07:01 PM

And I liked that guy's reaction next to him. It was a "Are you ****ing nuts please don't kill me" all in one.

Hammock Parties 12-13-2006 07:05 PM

Wasn't live. They showed the outtakes at the end of the last HBO Inside the NFL. Nick and Len were on BTW. Anniversary show.

Hendrix68 12-13-2006 07:08 PM

He's upset because he is almost the spitting image of David Hasselhoff.

This is why they love Dan Marino so much in Germany.

Tribal Warfare 12-13-2006 07:08 PM

Len & Nick were awesome when Inside the NFL was watchable

CoMoChief 12-13-2006 07:08 PM

Damnit, I gotta wait til I get home. I cant watch videos at work.

Brock 12-13-2006 07:11 PM

Dan never threw any interceptions that were his fault.

'Hamas' Jenkins 12-13-2006 07:15 PM

Now I can't get the thought of Dan Marino beating the piss out of his wife out of my head.

Goddammit bitch, why do you make me beat you :cuss:

KChiefer 12-13-2006 07:30 PM

Bench his A$$!!! That's a fumble to the 3rd degree!!!

Inexcusable. Choke yourself Marino!!!

Bob Dole 12-13-2006 07:40 PM

That's not even close to anger.

FAX 12-13-2006 07:44 PM

It seems like I remember someone talking about the Chiefs working out Marino at one time. And, the way the story went, Marino yelled at the other players a lot.

Anybody know about this?

Rain Man 12-13-2006 07:46 PM

Slightly off topic, but I don't really pay attention to who the "analysts" are on the various shows now, so I don't know if Marino and Boomer Esiason are still together or not. I like the fact that Marino hates Boomer and Boomer needles Marino about the whole Super Bowl thing.

Anyway, last week after the Colts got killed, Boomer was on the air, and he said, "The way things are going, I think Peyton Manning will go down in history as the greatest quarterback to never win a Super Bowl." When he said that, the camera was close in on his face, and I was yelling at the TV, "Show Marino! Show Marino!" I really enjoy his reaction to statements like that.

I really hope this anecdote doesn't end with "...and so we drafted Blackledge instead."

You know, it was something like that, Mr. Rain Man.

It is, admittedly, a vague and somewhat disturbing memory. But, I remember hearing that somewhere.

Rain Man 12-13-2006 07:57 PM

Thanks a lot. I just started crying.

FAX 12-13-2006 08:13 PM

I found a site that talks about it. The year was 1983.

"We’re about to witness the greatest stroke of Dolphins fortune since the Kansas City Chiefs worked out Todd Blackledge and Dan Marino on successive days, thought Blackledge was the real deal and set into motion Marino’s draft-day freefall to the Dolphins’ 27th pick."

Interesting factoid:

Marino was drafted by baseball's Kansas City Royals, but opted to attend the University of Pittsburgh.

Here's more. La BM is a reference to John Mackovic.

Before the draft, La BM reportedly worked out Marino at Arrowhead Stadium. Marino was zipping spirals downfield in a simulated game and showed some audible displeasure at a Chiefs receiver when he dropped a pass. Goodness, thought La BM, we can't have that! So with the 7th overall pick in the draft, La BM passed up on the over competitive Marino and Jim Kelly and instead picked Penn State's do gooder Todd Blacklidge.

That was Nick Buoniconti of the '72 Dolphins.

RP_McMurphy 12-13-2006 09:25 PM

Might have been mad because

Peyton was going to break another one of his records.

Dude... I totally hadn't made the connection between Marino and Manning before you said that! Quality post!

well, didnt Boomer really get Marino angry one time by saying "I dont want Peyton Manning to be remembered as another Dan Marino"? didnt he do that last year?

Wallcrawler 12-13-2006 10:27 PM

I think he referred to Peyton Manning as "The Modern Day Marino".

Thats the one where Dan's face turned almost purple and it looked like his head would explode.

Crashride 12-13-2006 10:50 PM

LOL

'Hamas' Jenkins 12-13-2006 10:53 PM

Gblowfish's website has the anecdote about Marino cursing @ receivers during his workout.

fucking dumbass Mackovic.

I used to get really angry about stuff that had to do with football. There's a hole in the bottom of my door where my foot went through, and a hole in the top of my closet door where my fist went through, and those were just because I lost a game of Madden. I've mellowed out a lot since then. Also moving into a dorm with concrete walls and solid wood doors helps with the whole punching and kicking them thing.

Frazod 12-13-2006 11:34 PM

I think Marino's an asshat, but that clip's no big deal. From watching it, I'd be willing to bet he'd fucked up that line several times and was just frustrated over it. Shit, I wigged out worse than that last night over my office's piece of shit copier jamming.

I've calmed down to the point where I just verbally abuse players, coches, refs, announcers, fans, the people in the commercials during breaks and household pets.

"That guy"?

You mean Nick Buoniconti? Do you watch football?

You should see young Hamas over a controversial game on All Madden difficulty.

One of my college roomies played D2 ball. We tried to bust this early 90's computer monitor of his and the aluminum bat just bounced off the shit (a testament to its thickness given his bat speed)

However, I delivered some Samir-style heel kicks that busted that shit open like a watermelon at a Gallagher routine.

Trust the heel kick.
