Missouri/Illinois game thread (since I didn't see one...)
 

Since I didn't see a thread. Figured this game deserves one since it is usually the first big game of our season.


Currently IU is on a bit of a run, but its not quite halfway through the first half.

Did you see that fricking block that MU did right at the start of the game ??? He had to have went half way up the backboard to slap it back off of it...

This MU team is sooooooooooooooooo far ahead of where it was at this time last year... Sure they haven't played any big games yet --- but they are looking good and hustling their butts off !!!

MU up now 25-24...

This is the first game I've been able to sit down and watch.... I LOVE this style of play.

Big fan of Anderson so far.

One thing hasn't changed since last year... They still can't hit their freethrows...

Well when the beakers are over, I will switch to the MU/IU game and see what this 40 minutes of Hades is all about?

Do they ever? I can't remember an MU team that shot FTs well. I'm sure there are stats that prove me wrong, but it always seems FTs kill us.

I LOVE my 2006-07 Mizzou Tigers. I don't care how many games they win, but I love the style of play. It is just damn fun to watch. Much more than that stand still offense that Quin used, ruining some great talent.

Yeah, from my unbiased perspective, Quin was a good recruiter but watching you guys play offense always wanted to make me throw a brick through the TV screen. Dribble, dribble, dribble, Kareem Rush chucks up a 23 foot fadeaway. Mike Anderson is probably a way better in-game coach. You'll still chuck up a lot of 3's but at least you'll look halfway organized out there.

Man !!! Anderson has this team playing 100% better than they did last year at any time !!!

I love it... I'm with you on --- I don't care how many games they win --- cause if they do lose --- it sure the hell wasn't because they didn't hustle...

Quin = zero D intensity as well.

I'm not real sure Quin even coached D, other than to just tell them to stand in front of the other guy. Arthur Johnson was a hell of a shot blocker, but I suspect that was more talent than coaching.

Yeah, I guess you will be much more intense on the defensive end too. The only bad thing about it is you'll probably be more prone to big comebacks, but then you'll be more likely to make big comebacks too... kinda like the Phoenix Suns. But it is fun to watch. I have zero rooting interest in Mizzou but watching you guys always made me want to go Hamas Jenkins on a coffee table.

*sigh* Those cheerleaders were probably just being born when I was at MU.

Damn, if we hadn't seen our offense evaporate the last 3-4 minutes of the half, we might be up 7+ points.

I really figured that the Tigers would be lucky to win maybe 10 games this year... That was until I saw the style of game they play... I wouldn't be surprised to see them maybe win 18-20...

I'll be honest... I expected this to be a pretty brutal season. Any success is just gravy, and so far so good.

I loved seeing how quickly Mizzou got Illinios frustrated... you could see it in their faces and body language. Seems the game plan is just to pester the shit out of the other guy until he screws up. :D

I'd read about it plenty, but it's more fun to watch.

If we make the tourney this season, it's a big success for Anderson, IMO.

Well, you saw Arkansas run it in the 80s and 90s (and against MU a few times). Albeit, with top-notch talent.

What makes me so upset is that they are averaging not even 6,000 fans at home... Maybe they miss Quinn... I was so glad to see them get rid of Quinn... He could recruit -- just not coach...

True. I just meant this is the first time I'd seen MU run it, since this is the first game I've been able to watch and give 100% attention to.

I've heard several games on the radio at work... but obviously it's not nearly the same.

Hell, I need to make a road trip to Columbia some time. I've still never seen a college BB game in person.

Gotcha. I've only seen the 2nd half of the Arkansas game. So everything I've seen so far this year has been very impressive. Hope we don't fall apart in the 2nd half tonight like we did vs. Purdue.

It's awesome... Watching college sports in person is so much more exciting than watching pro sports in person...

Me too. Hannah is the best PG they've had in awhile. Hell, I think even Horton is playing better. Clearly, he's simply better coached.

I was going to mention that earlier... He looks and acts alot different this year than last... I was wanting to choke him last year most of the time...
