What does it say about Herm as a coach?

When you have a subpar winning record and guys are cracking jokes during the Sunday night game player intro's. I'm talking about Jared Allen saying he is homeschooled, and Tony G. talking like scarface.

It tells me that they don't give a sh#t about the playoffs, their too busy goofing off and acting classless. They should've been focused on the damn game. A good coach would've been all over that crap IMO.

Was anyone else pissed about that or what?

Not one bit.

God forbid these guys have personalities.

thedude 12-19-2006 10:39 PM

I also think this is a perfect example of the bitching about Herm Edwards getting out of hand.

I thought it was funny. Why be a stiff? Jared Allen actually WAS homeschooled too. What I don't understand is why people want Herm fired after one year. I'm not saying I'm happy with him, but I don't want him fired after one year. Lets see what he's got. I don't think alot of people expected us to go better than 9-7 at the beginning of this season anyway. This is the same exact team minus Willie Roaf and plus Ty Law. That doesn't really offset, as we've all seen what Ty Law can do

Mecca 12-19-2006 10:42 PM

Ok now this is going a bit far.....

noa 12-19-2006 10:44 PM

I don't think our head coach should be censoring our players unless they say something detrimental to the team.

I think Herm made a couple of mistakes. Solari as his O coach? Stupid! We should've won Denver @ Denver bad play calling. Cincy same thing. Last but not least Cleveland loss to a QB who nobody wants to blitz because God knows? There you have it 3 reasons why Herm needs to go. He did not surround himself with good assistants, which in turn cost the Chiefs 3 games this year. We should be in the playoffs. Coach IMO is to be held responsible, that's what he gets paid to do.

noa 12-19-2006 10:48 PM

I will break you

chop 12-19-2006 10:55 PM

I can't believe that the intros actually bothered you. I thought they were funny.

B_Ambuehl 12-19-2006 11:04 PM

They probably filmed those shots way back just after training camp anyway. Allens was the funniest I'd ever seen. Tony G's was pretty damn funny as well.

DaWolf 12-19-2006 11:15 PM

Yeah I'm pretty sure those are taped well in advance.

KcMizzou 12-19-2006 11:22 PM

Heh. When I saw that, I honestly thought, "Someone on Chiefsplanet's gonna bitch about this."

beer bacon 12-19-2006 11:27 PM

We all know Tony G and Jared Allen are just out there collecting their paychecks anyways.

Discuss Thrower 12-19-2006 11:30 PM

It speaks volumes that the team that Herm leaves behind, advances to the playoffs. The team he joins, plays themselves out of contention.

That, and another first year HC is taking the SAINTS to the playoffs. The SAINTS.

It's gonna be hell next year when we are sub-500 AGAIN, and either Arizona and Detroit will be in the playoffs.

Does the NFL plan on moving us to the NFC this offseason?

Next season we will go to the playoffs, and we will have a top 10 scoring/total defense. We might have a real ugly team, but it will be good enough to get to the playoffs.

Might be the most reeruned thread ever.

Knob 12-19-2006 11:42 PM

From this thread--I kinda understand how Carl Peterson has had his job for 17 years now. Alot of old-timer fans are easy to please with some 8-8 years. I guess it is a generation thing. Maybe I got no patience and would like to see the Chiefs win a SB before I die?

I don't think guys doing funny stuff in intros has anything to do with why our team sucks.......

You're looking at it wrong, maybe some people are satisfied but your premise that things like intros matter to games is reeruned.

No, dumbass, we just aren't stupid enough to get all worked up about players having a personality.

Of course, forgive me for not remembering the direct correlation between two players having a little fun with pre game introductions and overall record as well as an overall reflection of the coach, the organization and the fan base. That was a tough one to miss.

007 12-19-2006 11:46 PM

I had the radio on so I didn't even hear them. I did see the sneer on Tony's face and wonder WTF was that?

Mecca 12-19-2006 11:46 PM

This guy must hate todays NFL seeing as players actually have personality and say things instead of just sitting there doing nothing.

Not to mention the ever growing possibility that fans in KC and the immediate area may actually experience a blackout for the first time in 15+ years.

Ok we have some funny players on the Chiefs. We can also sit our funny azz's at home in December. I'll take clowns anyday over playoffs.

Point is Chiefs lack leadership. Game time is when it's time to put in work. Not fuggin clown around.

Lighten the hell up dude,it's not like they filmed those intros right before the players hit the field.

Here is an interesting factoid. Those players most definitely do not do their intros at game time. Furthermore, it most likely doesn't even happen on game day! Hows that for mindblowing!

Since you didn't read the thread.....the intros were done well before the game.

The Chiefs lost because they aren't good, San Diego is a better team. Guys being funny on intos done 3 months ago has nothing to do with why we lost. How about you focus on something important?

I don't hate it. I just love the guys like LT, MH or barry sanders whom acted like they had been there before. Could care less for the TO or Chad J. crap. Talk sh#t when you've done something, not before.

These guys didn't tape these intros at gametime, dumbass.

Im tired of using sarcasm to try and get my point across so I will answer the question of the thread very bluntly.

What does it say about Herm as a coach?

NOTHING!

Knob 12-19-2006 11:53 PM

Guys I didn't know the intro's were taped in 1988 sorry. Mods can you delete this thread. LOL

Actually, the game was moved to the flex schedule so I'm thinking those intros were filmed rather recently, however,I don't have a problem with how they were done.

Either way, even if they were done the day before.....acting like something like that has an impact on the game is reeruned.

seen in another light, the guys keeping things light in the locker room rather than all tense is a good sign as well...

Something in me tells me that not too much focus is taken away from a player to come up with a clever moniker for Sunday Night Football introductions. I highly doubt those extra 5 seconds or so devoted to studying the playbook would have made much of a difference in the outcome of the game.

And to echo what was said earlier... they were shot before the game.

Herms biggest mistake was not securing at least one bad@zz O. Tackle to take Roafs place so trent wouldn't have 6 sacks in one game. Our problem this year is that Our O line is broken. Defenses figure because the Guards would have to help a little on the outside they could go right up the middle which is what they did in baltimore.. The problem is the O line not solari.

FYP

Chief Chief 12-22-2006 01:53 PM

The only reason SD has an 8-game winning streak is that they've taken their intros so seriously since their last loss that they devote at least 4 hours weekly studying their intro tapes (and those of their opponents) to find flaws, rehearse, and improve their overall performance.

Securing a new OT? Such as . . .?

There wasn't anyone available after Roaf announced his retirement.

I could not agree more, Mr. Rob. Professional football players should never joke. Nor should they engage in laughter.

Rather, they should always be surly, angry, make mean faces and, whenever possible, strike their women, attack police officers during the early morning hours with their bare hands, and crack a pop in a homie's ass cap.
