Dre Bly hates the Denver Broncos!
LMAO
First Plummer, now Bly gives them the business. Must be Shanahan's endearing personality. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?...nfl&id=2789949 DENVER -- The Broncos have heard Dre' Bly is bitter about being traded to Denver, and that he'd prefer to play for Washington. The team, though, wants to give their new cornerback some time to warm up to the deal. It's only been a few days since the 29-year-old Bly was acquired from Detroit -- along with a sixth-round pick -- for running back Tatum Bell, offensive lineman George Foster and a fifth-round pick. "Hopefully he'll see the light," said Jim Bates, assistant head coach in charge of defense, at a Tuesday get-together for the Broncos' new coaches. "He'll see the opportunity in Denver of being part of a great football team, great organization and being opposite the side of Champ Bailey. Hopefully he'll come around and say, 'Hey, this is where I want to be." Bates hasn't spoken to Bly personally, but said others, including coach Mike Shanahan and general manager Ted Sundquist, have contacted him. Bly's agent, Kennard McGuire, didn't return a call or an e-mail from the Associated Press. "I don't know what Dre's thinking," Bates said. "Hopefully, over the next couple weeks, he'll come our direction and be positive. We want a positive player once we get in here." The Washington Post, citing people it did not name, reported Bly would rather play for the Redskins because they're closer to his home in Chesapeake, Va. However, Denver doesn't have any plans to deal their newly acquired defensive back just yet. "We expect him to be playing corner for us," said Bates, who was out of football last season, but spent the 2005 season as Green Bay's defensive coordinator. "We'd love for him to be all fired up and get ready to roll. Sometimes, especially in today's game, you have to have a little patience and it takes a little time." The thought of Bly and Bailey holding down the corners for the Broncos brings a smile to the face of Bates. The Broncos can apply more pressure because they don't have to worry about either Pro Bowl player needing extra help. Bates has already studied film of Bailey from last season and was amazed at the footage. Bailey tied for the league lead in interceptions with 10 and finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting. "I've been fortunate to be around some great corners," Bates said. "I don't think anyone has been more complete from what I've seen on tape than Champ. A lot of these guys were great cover guys, maybe a little inconsistent in the tackling area. Champ does it all, and does it all at a high level." Denver's Domonique Foxworth was penciled in as the starting right corner until the Bly deal. Foxworth will likely fill the nickel role. The Broncos are still trying to recover from the loss of cornerback Darrent Williams, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on New Year's Day. The case remains unsolved. Bly has 33 career interceptions, the fourth-most in the league since 1999. He's returned five interceptions for touchdowns in his career. Now if the Broncos could only get him to warm up to the deal. "We've heard some of his remarks since the trade's been made, but hopefully he'll see the light as far as playing opposite Champ Bailey," Bates said. "I think it would be a great opportunity for him." |
You're an idiot.
Bly saw the huge $ from Snyder and that's what he wants in Denver. Bly has 1 year on his current deal and like most people... he wants an extension. I don't have an issue with his stance and they'll make it right. |
Welcome to the club Dre.

I would imagine they were holding off on having talks around a contract extension until they saw what happend with a few of the FA pursuits. I would also imagine that they weren't trading away 2 players and a draft pick for a CB with 1 year remaining and NOT planning on extending the deal to keep him in Denver.
Just my $.02 |

Damm Donk fans are sure quick to come to the defense of any player that even mentions Dungver. They turn into the best player to ever wear a uniform.
Way to make new friends Dr. Drea. |
Let's not get too crazy. I wasn't coming to his defense ... I was more or less just providing my thought on the whole scenario. It's a money thing at this point and to suggest he hates being a Bronco is insane.
Dre hates the reality of not getting the big $ deal that was there had WAS been able to provide an equal or better trade scenario. That's all... And, suggesting that any of us think any player to wear the predominantly orange and blue uniform is the greatest of all time... well, that's a bit over the top. Elway and Sharpe are the only two that come to mind for me. |
on second thought, lets not go to chiefs planet, 'tis a silly place.........

Imagine getting traded to the ****ing Broncos. That would be a nightmare.
|
the amusing thing about this is that they list that DC is close to Cheaspeake...depnding on where in NOVA or Maryland you live...it could take 4-7 hours to get there. That's more than a direct flight from DIA..this is about the dollars.

Dre' Bly - DB - Broncos
The Washington Post's Redskins blog believes a Dre Bly deal to Washington is still in play, and it could involve the team's No. 6 overall pick. Denver has destroyed Washington in a few previous trades. In this scenario, Denver would send Bly, their first-round pick, a mid-round pick and change for the No. 6 overall pick. Shawn Springs would then be moved from Washington. It appears the two sides will continue to talk. Mar. 6 - 6:21 p.m. ET Source: Washington Post |
This is nuts man.

VERY LUCKY. |
Skins are stoopid if they make that trade.

Shawn Springs is better than Bly.......

Tell them we will give them TY Law for Springs and the 6th pick. Throw in Bartee, Hicks and Green.

Springs is easily better than Bly. I'm hoping the Broncos don't pull that move off.

Playing opposite Bailey might not be that appealing. Dude's gonna get picked on every week.

:hmmm: " Another issue that could be addressed is the future of Bly, whom Denver acquired in a trade last week. Bly would prefer to play at Washington, but the Broncos are unwilling to part with him for anything less than what they deem fair value. Already, the Redskins have offered the Broncos cornerback Shawn Springs; Denver has asked for Washington's backup running back, Ladell Betts, whom the Broncos still would like even though they already have signed free-agent running back Travis Henry. New Orleans has offered Denver a fourth-round pick for Bly; Denver quickly rejected the Saints offer as not enough. The Broncos continue to insist that, unless they get what they want in return, they will not trade Bly, who has one year remaining on his existing contract." |
You can't blame the guy for not wanting to go to that corrupt shithole. This guy has character.

ROFL Yeah, I applaud him for wanting to move to the moral compass of the league in DC. |
It's not very often in the NFL it seems like a guy who publicly says, "I don't want to be here", ends up playing there. I expect that they will end up trading him to Washington.
I'd be happy about this but Denver didn't give much up to get him so  |

I can't wait to see Shanny bend Snyder over again without so much as spitting on it first.

At some point, Snyder has to wise up... right?

Somehow Denver is going to end up moving up to Washington's 6th overall pick out of this, I can just feel it.
Denver seems to rape Washington on every trade. |

You get the better CB and the better pick. Synder is dumb enough for it to happen. |

I really don't think Springs is a better CB, because he's as likely to miss as many games as he plays.
|
I doubt he will be happy unless traded to the Redskins. Knowing this gives the Redskins the upper hand, IMO.

Ok I gotta call BS on this one. I dislike da Broncs as much as the next guy but Bly is turning down a chance to play for a probable playoff team with an outside chance at a SB appearance to play for a DC team that's circling the drain. He'd also be opposite Baily which means he'd have mucho chances to pad his int and passes defensed stats which would position him for a nice deal next year. Kinda proves that Bly isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. |
I suspect there is too much analysis. He probably cant stand Shanhans smirk. Thats reason enough to hate Donks.

I can understand not wanting to play for the donkeys.
I can't fathom wanting to play for the deadskins. |
I honestly think Shanahan KNEW Bly would be unhappy when he traded for him:
Redskins and Broncos could swap picks in Bly deal According to the Washington Post, Denver and Washington are currently in trade talks centering around Dre Bly. One rumor has the Broncos sending Bly and a first and second round pick to the Redskins in exchange for the sixth overall pick in the draft. The Broncos and Redskins have been frequent trade partners in the past and Dre Bly continues to request a trade to Washington, so expect some kind of deal to happen soon. Another rumor has Bly being moved for Ladell Betts. |
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting.
|
I'd bet money that Denver asked for Betts before they signed Henry, it's just coming out now that's who they originally asked for. Since they no longer want Betts, now it's trying to work out a package to move to #6.
|
It wouldn't shock me at all... bit of a gamble, but for some reason, Snyder likes to roll over and bite the pillow when Denver calls about a trade idea.
|
Quote:
I dunno. Broncos' activity has given me tired head a few times this offseason already... should be interesting. What are the chances of sending Bly, our R1 and other picks for Springs and their #6? Too crazy? |
Quote:
Shanny:"We have Dre Bly and he says he isn't happy. I wonder what we should do?" Snyder:"Say, I have an idea. Why don't you trade him to us.(covers phone and whispers to assistant)"Shannahan is on the line, watch me steal Dre Bly from him" Shanny: "Wow, great idea Danny boy. Did I hear you say you'll give us Sean Springs and your #6 overall pick"? Snyder: "Uh, yes. That is exactly what I said" (heh heh sucker) |

My guess: Bly 1st Skins' 4th next year Either Denver's 2nd or the Skins' 3rd for 6th Overall |
There's a li'l blurb/rumor on www.broncosfreak.com about a deal involving Al Wilson and a bunch of other craziness.
|
They'd probably be able to get Alan Branch at that point.

It'll be real thrilling to see the Broncos end up with Shawn Springs and Gaines Adams......

At worst, Denver will get a 3rd or 4th-rounder from Washington to cover the penalty... |

Shawn Hamstring Springs?

Taking Bly out of the equation for a minute..... According to the Value Chart: R1, pick 6 is worth 1600 It would take all of Denver's Day One picks (R1, R2, R3x2) to get anywhere close. (1540) Throwing Springs in the deal would mean Denver wouldhave to give MORE picks to make up for getting the 6th overall, assuming you think Bly and Springs are equally talented. Bottom line: It SHOULD take a fortune for Denver to move to the 6th spot...... |

The Redskins don't make logical trades.....
|

I know what the value chart says, but Denver's not forced to trade Bly and this draft's strengths are what Denver needs- DL and safety. I'm sure they'd love to be in position for Adams, Branch, Anderson, or Okoye, but at the same time, they can stand pat and fill more needs. Denver's not going to give up their entire 1st day for one guy.
and an older, injury-prone corner is not valued the same as Bly |
Quote:
I mean his literal hamstrings...doesn't he have an extensive history of injuries? given his age and injuries, I'm not sure Bly isn't the better long term prospect, but I haven't watched him play much... |

I don't know what the injury history is with Springs...
And, regarding Snyder... I just think he sucks at wheeling and dealing. |
