Chiefs are trying to sign Jay Feeley

http://www.nj.com/giants/ledger/inde...790.xml&coll=1

Quote:

The Giants let kicker Jay Feely become a free agent without much resistance. But now that three other teams are vying for Feely's services, they're putting up a fight to keep him.

According to someone familiar with Feely's situation, the Giants have upped their offer to rival those Feely has received from the Dolphins, Chiefs and Falcons -- the team with which he began his career. The person, who requested anonymity because negotiations are ongoing, said Feely, 30, was pleased with the offer he received during his visit with the Dolphins yesterday but wants to give the Giants a chance to match. Feely is expected to make his final decision shortly.

Interesting.
:hmmm:

Hammock Parties 03-07-2007 10:04 AM

Oh **** no. If we dump Tynes for this assclown I'm giving Herm a 50-point deduction.

CoMoChief 03-07-2007 10:08 AM

**** no.

OH SHIT

Reerun_KC 03-07-2007 10:09 AM

This is getting ridiculous! What the hell?

recxjake 03-07-2007 10:09 AM

Tynes is a 78.2 % kicker
Feely is a 79.6 % kcker

Reerun_KC 03-07-2007 10:10 AM

Oh sorry rex, I didnt realize there was a major difference between the two....

BigChiefFan 03-07-2007 10:10 AM

We don't need another old kicker, especially when they can't even kick 50 yarders very accurrately. No thanks. WTF is the FO thinking?

kc rush 03-07-2007 10:17 AM

Tynes is OK. I just hope they bring in some competition for training camp.

the **** are you talking about? He had one attempt from over 50 yards last year. He also has twice as many touchbacks as Tynes.

Ultra Peanut 03-07-2007 10:22 AM

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...67&postcount=8

Feely vs. Tynes over the past two seasons:

Player 20-29 30-39 40-49 50+
Feely: 25-27 30-34 14-18 3-6
Tynes: 18-18 16-19 11-18 4-7

About 14% of Feely's career kickoffs have been touchbacks, compared to Tynes' 4%. In 2006, Feely had 12 touchbacks in 77 regular (non-onside) kickoffs, while Tynes had 5 touchbacks in 76 regular kickoffs.

Quote:

He's just under two years older than Tynes.

As you can see above, he's been about the same as Tynes from 50+, and better from 40-49.

Unless someone manages to conjure up a 28-year-old Morten Andersen, Feely's worth a shot.

TRR 03-07-2007 10:30 AM

I hate Lawrence Tynes with a passion. He misses too many easy kicks/extra points, etc. I'll be glad when Tynes is let go/not re-signed.

Thig Lyfe 03-07-2007 10:32 AM

At the very least bring him in for camp.

Feely's touchback numbers would be even higher had he been playing for KC. He'd have a few more touchbacks in Denver's altitude. :D

noa 03-07-2007 10:39 AM

I say we just go with the cheaper option. Their stats look very similar.

Sully 03-07-2007 10:40 AM

How's Feely in a bar fight?

yeah, but we all thought he was the man when he hit a 48 yarder to win the game against San Diego. That 3 points was wiped out with a penalty and he promptly rekicked from 53 and made it.

Hero one day, goat the next.

He does need to be more accurate more often.

Any good kickers in the draft?

Archie Bunker 03-07-2007 10:54 AM

I have never trusted Tynes for what ever reason. Maybe its the missed PATs, I don't know.

It seems like the Chiefs are looking to go a different direction. They interviewed Medlock at the Combine as well.

I don't hate the guy but I agree he does suck

TrebMaxx 03-07-2007 11:04 AM

The only problem I have with Tynes is the short kickoffs. FG accuracy could be better but I have seen worse.

bringbackmarty 03-07-2007 11:05 AM

Anyone who be thinkin that Tynes is better than feeley is high. Feeley is a good kicker, and can kik the ball into the endzone in almost any stadium, not just mile high.

As Chiefs fans, we probably shouldn't trust ANY kickers. I'm pretty sure that Jesus Christ himself would screw us in the clutch.

:) One of my all time favorite movies.

BigChiefFan 03-07-2007 11:24 AM

Perhaps his touchback percentage is better and that is a plus, but I certainly don't see Feeley as head and shoulders above Tynes. Not that I endorse Tynes as the saviour-he is average, too.

Brock, I was referring to Feeley's CAREER percentage on 50 yard plus fgs being iffy at best. If we wanted a kicker-we should have made the move LAST YEAR when Adam Vinentiari was available. More stop-gap moves by King Carl.

Iowanian 03-07-2007 11:24 AM

Feely is an upgrade over Tynes and his missed extra points.

Mile High Mania 03-07-2007 11:26 AM

Vanderjagdt is out there...

vckcchiefs04 03-07-2007 11:34 AM

this is brilliant......we need help on the lines, and several other spots.... but lets go spend more money at a position that is much less important and for not a big enough of a difference to be worth the money! Brilliant move Carl & Co. :banghead:

Brock 03-07-2007 11:36 AM

God forbid they try to improve at a position just because it isn't the most important one.

Crush 03-07-2007 11:45 AM

Tynes has to go. Extra points should be a given. You shouldn't have to sit in anticipation to see if your ******* kicker will make the PAT.

Halfcan 03-07-2007 11:47 AM

We need to draft the best kicker we can-and be set at that position for the next 15 years.

HermBall will require excellent K/Punting.

ChiefsCountry 03-07-2007 12:02 PM

I would draft Crosby or the kicker from UCLA.

Mecca 03-07-2007 12:04 PM

Now those stats may look similiar but they really aren't. They speak to Feeley being alot better because the Meadowlands is one of the most difficult stadiums in the league to kick in where Arrowhead is not. He's kicking in a much more difficult place and doing the same job Tynes is in a not difficult kicking place......Coming here makes Feeley automatically 5x better than Tynes.

He just needs to be focused. The chips shots he missed was becuase he wasnt focusing. There is no other explanation for it. You dont miss chip shots like that if your not focused.

But he's the only kicker in the league who'll beat someone's ass in a bar fight. That has to be worth something...

Read the article from lastnight. He said they are looking for DT's. I dont know if there is anything out there right now. They need to sign Edwards or Reed though. One of them has to stay. If not we got donut Sims back starting.

Mecca 03-07-2007 12:12 PM

Ron Edwards shouldn't be back.......you can find that type of player anytime he's just a big body and that's about it.

Let leave that out of this.

Skyy God 03-07-2007 12:16 PM

I wanted Feeley the last time he was a FA (playing for Atlanta). Good to see CP coming around....

My question would be what are his stats away from the Meadowland. I might try to find those.

dirk digler 03-07-2007 12:20 PM

Ok found it.

He was 12-12 away from Giants stadium and 12-16 at home.

Pretty impressive

Very nice. This would be a good move but alot of teams are looking at him so he might end up costing too much.

Have we blocked a certain 23 yard miss from our memory bank?

Chief Nute 03-07-2007 02:59 PM

Memo to Chiefs Planet:

No need to worry about kickoff stats. You have to score points in order to kick the ball off.

I'd spend money on the best foot masseuse money can buy for Colquitt before I'd spend big dollars on a kicker because he kicks off well. :shake:

Chiefs Pantalones 03-07-2007 03:00 PM

I'd rather have Feely or Mare than Tynes.
