I remember this one time, when I was down and out. Mr. Bob Dole flew in and landed by me. As I looked up, I saw Mr. Bob Dole standing there in his tights and cape with a big "D" on his chest.

Just the sight of him made me stand up and go back to fighting the good fight.

Thank you Mr. Bob Dole.

Mr. Bob Dole once taught english to an entire tribe of cannibals allowing them, for the first time, to read microwave instructions and his personal copy of the recipe book, "400 Enticing Pork And Bean Ideas" which resulted in saving countless lives of unsuspecting travellers, missionaries, and jungle explorers.

We appreciate that, Mr. Bob Dole.

Don't forget that it also empowered them to read the instructions on the ball point pen packaging, which finally enabled them to extend the ink-filled tip and doodle in the margins.

Bob Dole once used his eyebrow to rescue an orphan from the bottom of a well.

RJ 03-16-2007 10:26 AM

RJ enjoys Bob Dole's unique style of posting.

RJ also appreciates Bob Dole's somewhat caustic wit.

What RJ doesn't understand is why Bob Dole ever thought to post in the third person, much less to make it a trademark.

RJ hopes that Bob Dole might explain that. RJ is thinking that alcohol may have been involved, though RJ has never met Bob Dole and therefore has no real basis for his opinion.

Also, RJ is amused by the fact that Bob Dole seems to use his mod powers primarily for evil purposes.

Actually, he invented the Externet. It was kind of the Beta to the Internet's VHS. It's still used in a lot of developing countries, though.

Mr. Bob Dole collected and utilized a lot of the discarded BetaMax parts to constuct an interstellar transport device in his garage, Mr. crazycoffey, which he uses to locate and capture puppies abandoned on worlds outside our own galaxy. He then nurses these unfortunate animals back to health and finds them new homes with loving caregivers mainly in Alabama.

A lot of very strange looking puppies really appreciate that.

Sully 03-16-2007 11:40 AM

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with Bob Dole.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to Bob Dole.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned Bob Dole about it:

"Bob Dole, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

Bob Dole replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you. Now go get me a beer. I'm tired from carrying your fat ass. And don't be a lazy bitch. Get the good beer."

Until 6 months ago I still had a working beta player in my house.

Television still uses Betamax extensively. While the switch over to DVCPro and other digital formats is ongoing, Beta is still a good and reliable source.

Beta should have won the Beta/VHS war, but JVC (who owned VHS) sunk a ton of money into VHS and public ate it up... whereas Sony (who owned Beta) thought incorrectly that quality would triumph.

Bottom line: Beta > VHS.

yup, I know it's supposed to be better than VHS, I think the biggest problem as I understood it, People were invested into VHS tapes before many of them started to buy Beta, and as a regular consumer (just watching movies, recording games while the wife had you do other things) the cost to change was more significant than the minor difference in quality.

But I was pretty young and am going more off of what I remember my parents saying.....

That was the marketing... JVC put so much $$$ into it that everyone thought VHS was better. Most consumers don't do their research, they just go on what the TV tells them.

Name recognition is HUGE. They knew what VHS was. They didn't know what Beta was.

well if they didn't know what Beta was, it would be hard to know there was a choice.........

look at PC and MAC - Mac has some clear advantages, but are some of those advantages really needed by the average computer user?

If I want to write a book, play on this board and check email, why do I need a MAC?

I don't search through bunches of porn sites, I don't have lots of photography / editing needs, I don't write computer programs, If I want to listen to music I turn on a Radio and if I want to watch a movie, I turn on the TV......

Bottom line: Beta > VHS.

You are not telling the quite whole story. I was selling/servicing them at the time, it was quite an issue.
It was all about recording time from the beginning. The original Beta would record 1 hour, the VHS 2 hours. Then 2/4 and then 6. The VHS was always ahead when it came to recording time and that had the consumer appeal.
Oh, and before the VHS we had the "Quasar Great Time Machine" that had a 2 hour tape that was about four times the size of the VHS tape. The unit was huge, heavy and expensive.

No, Mr. Halfcan. Steak and BJ day is on the 14th this year.

Plus, I think it's safe to say that, no matter how much we appreciate Mr. Bob Dole (and we do), he doesn't hold a candle to steak and bjs.

Frankly, I'm looking forward to tomorrow which is Pie and BJ day, the holiday originally established by Charlemagne to acknowledge the Khazar kingdom's conversion to Judaism and the remarkable ability of Byzantine women to both bake and control their gag reflex.

LMAO

Actually, I checked out the Mobile viewing setting last night and once there, there's no way out. Stuck in shitting mobile view. There's no way to even make a thread for help. So I went to Tapatalk, but since the upgrade, there's no prefixes, so I couldn't make a thread for help there either. PM'd Bob Dole and a few others, and he got me squared away pretty quickly.

Moral of the story: If you want to check out "mobile" CP, go to the mobile site, NOT the mobile view setting in user pref's.
