said Culpepper had an operation on his knee in November, Miami claimed it was minor but now he is saying that he is out 4-6 months....

Clayton said it was increasingly likely that Culpepper will be released, and that Miami/Chiefs will make a deal right before the draft....


imho, Miami wants Trent to start, he ain't a backup or "insurance policy"....hopefully Carl is on his game with this one...

so even though we don't have any real competitors with Miami, Culpepper's situation could give us leverage..

Daunte started sucking before his first knee injury. Miami needs Trent more than we need to get rid of him. this gives us major leverage. I like it. :)

Miami has repeatedly said they won't give more than a 6th. Green worth a second? Honestly maybe a couple years ago but not at his age now.

We gotta get back that 2nd we gave up for Surtain.

Thats pretty much the whole debate....Is Green really worth a 2nd? Probably not. How desperate is Miami for a veteran QB to fill in for a year or two? They will probably end giving more for Green than he is worth out of neccessity....

The answer is probably somewhere in between....if i had to guess: They give up a 3rd...

They gave up a second for Culpepper, they gave up a sixth or a fifth for Joey Freaking Harrington. Green is worth more than a sixth. I'd keep him on the roster rather than trade him for that.

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper (knee) revealed Friday, April 13, that a second knee procedure to remove scar tissue in November required a four-to-six month period of recovery. Culpepper had started sprinting last month during offseason workouts but began experiencing soreness, which led to him being told to stop running. "I just visited my doctor and my knee is stable," Culpepper said. "It's just not to point where I can go full speed yet. That's just the process I'm going through. There's no doubt in my mind I'll be able to play. Just when is the question."

4 to 6 months from November is March or May. Sounds more like 6 to 8 months. Either way I doubt that they dump Culpepper or they really are stupid.
Culpepper probably starts the season on the PUP list. Daunte still has value when healthy. I think that the phins keep him at least for this season to try and recover something back out of him.

I never really liked him myself though.

Is there anymore "hot off the press" tidbits of juicy news that you want to share with us? Maybe any Ty Law updates? I hear Gunther Cunningham got fired and that Carl wants to replace him with Vermeil, but that's just a rumor, probably.

No way will they give up a 3rd. 5th maybe.

We'll all be real happy if Brady Quinn drops to them and we get stuck holding Green and getting nothing for him.

Miami doesn't have a 5th. That's the best part. If Carl isn't going to settle for a 6th, and he shouldn't, then the next step up is a 4th.

If this doesn't get done before the draft we need Cleveland to take Quinn....if they don't this could blow up in our faces.

eehh....not a fan of Culpepper myself, plus that knee is clearly a lingering issue....but, my opinion aside, that would still be a good trade value....

A Culpepper with lingering knee concerns at his age, WOULD be decent trade value for Green at this point in his career.

Then again, I wouldn't feel right about doing that to Green; but I'm not Carl, so...:hmmm:
