The official UFC:70 Nations Collide thread
Edilberto "Crocota" de Oliveira http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/3708/42814nz9.jpg Vs. Paul"Relentless"Taylor http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/2356/ptla2.jpg
My pick: I'll go with Crocota. He is a Big Nog prodigy. He s undefeated, and all I've heard is watch out for this kid. He has great Jiu-Jitsu, Great boxing, and can fight for days. Crocota in the 2nd by RNC. |
Dennis Siverhttp://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...ghter_9817.jpg Vs. Jess "Joker" Liaudin http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...s_Liaudin2.JPG
My pick: Silver. The only reason "Joker" is on this card is because he's a UK fighter. He's 10-8 and has no buiness being on this card. Silver by 1st round submission |
Victor"The Matrix"Valimaki http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...ghter_4391.JPG Vs. Allessio "Legionarius" Sakara http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...a2_profile.JPG
My pick: Valimaki. He's a quality fighter with alot of what Sakara doesn't have, and that is heart. Valimaki by TKO 1st round |
David Heath http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/593/34831qj1.jpg Vs. Lyoto Machida http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...ghter_7513.JPG
My pick: Machida. Heath is a tough guy, but he's taking this fight on short notice. Machida unanimous decision. |
Junior Assuncao http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...hter_10380.JPG Vs. David Lee http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...David_Lee2.JPG
My pick: Lee. this is a fairly even fight. I think Lee will have a little something extra for this fight since it's in his hometown. Lee by RNc 1st round. |
Matt"The Wolverine" Grice http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/2494/35919284kk3.jpg Vs. Terry Etim http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2720/90569110tp5.jpg
My pick: Grice. He seems to be more well rounded. Etim is a dominate grappler, but Grice can hold his own on the ground, and has the advantage on the feet. Grice by TKO punches 2nd round. |
Assuerio Silva http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...va_profile.jpg Vs. Cheick Kongo http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...04_profile.jpg
My pick: Silva. Kongo is a monster, and has great thai skills, but Ausserio is no slouch on his feet, and if he gets Kongo down it's over. Silva by unanimous decision. |
Andrei"The Pitbull"Arlovski http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P.../Arlovski2.JPG Vs. Fabricio Werdum http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...CIO_WERDUM.jpg
My pick: The Pitbull! Andrei is back, and I feel very sorry for not only Fabricio, but anyone who has to step in the cage with Arlovski in his next few fights. Werdum is a very tough guy, and he belongs in the UFC. I just don't think he has it for AA. Arlovski KO punch 1st round. |
Michael"The Count"Bisping http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...s/Bisping2.JPG Vs. Elvis Sinosic http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...is_Sinosic.JPG
My pick: Bisping. Elvis has no business being in the UFc anymore, and Bisping is the future. Bisping first round KO. |
Mirko"Cro Cop"Filipovic http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...Filipovic2.JPG Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/P...EL_GONZAGA.jpg
My pick: Cro Cop. Gonzaga is a tough guy, but Mirko is a top 3 fighter in the world right now. I don't think this fight is going to last long. Cro Cop by Left high kick. |

My pick : Cro Cop. By a good old fashioned country ass whoopin in the first round. |
I'm pumped. I'm too cheap to pay for a PPV of anything, so this will be my first chance to actually watch a complete UFC event. I'm guessing that they're going to blow out SpikeTV's previous highest rating. Hopefully they'll see the ad dollars from this and do more of it.
|
Anytime UFC is free, I'm there. Can't wait to see Arlovski vs Werdum.
|
Sakara has cooler tattoos than Valimaki, he will clearly win.
|
I am looking forward to seeing Croptop.
Once some advertisement $ gets pumped into this sport it will gain a lot of popularity. Mayweather was talking smack about UFC, then the UFC president called boxers 1 trick ponies. Mayweather countered with "look at the prize $". |

I hope MMA never reaches the sorry state that boxing is in. boxers spend the majority of their career padding and protecting a record. |
Hungry fighters make good fights.
Big paydays weaken fighters/athaletes. |

Yeah its too bad that these fights are already over, and the results are in.They could have atleast let you know that you were viewing a rebroadcast.
|
Cro Cop will get knocked out in the first round.
|
So Matt Serra and Matt Hughes are going to be the coaches on the next ultimate fighter. Matt Serra called Hughes and "dick" and said he looks forward to hitting him the face.
|
hmm, how do you neg rep people on this board?
|
Cro Cop just got knocked out.
Wow. They can't even get the mouthpiece out of his mouth. |
Looks like he probably tore quite a bit of stuff in his leg on the way down.
Wow. Brutal. |
That was nuts. One of the most brutal KOs I've seen.
|
It looked bad, then you see how he fell down and his leg bent under, and it's even worse.

I thought this was live?
|
Quote:
I guess I should've figured out the time difference would make it ridiculous for it to be live. My bad. |

Well you guys got the round right atleast. |

ill bet cro cop will be carrying gonzagas bags to the plane. Gonzaga pwned him.

The leg bend was pretty brutal. Seemed like Mirko was alright though. Was a sweet KO.
|
it looked like he put his foot on backward, or he was trying to kick his own ass.
|
The UFC curse continues in full force.
|
|
that is brutal.
|
Dang, sounds like i missed the best action of the night when i turned it for SNL.
The best one i watched was the Kongo fight, if that guy learns some ground skills he'll be deadly, he's a great puncher with some awesome knee strikes. The Arlovski fight was BORING, both guys were playing not to lose. The Bisping fight was good, he's lucky Elvis didnt pull a win out of his azz. I'm gonna have to pony up the $$$ for the Liddell/Rampage fight, thats gonna be so incredible. |
So much for the Pride guys "dominating" the UFC guys like we've been getting told would happen.
Cro Cop is lucky his leg and head are still attached to his body today. |

I would say that so far it's being shown that the UFC guys are significantly better than the Pride guys.

Yeah, and having watched nearly every UFC and Pride event, I'm extremely surprised at this. Suddenly I'm wondering if Pride didn't manipulate matchups to make their fighters look better than they were. I really want to see Fedor as a UFC fighter. On the other hand when UFC fighters have gone to Pride they haven't done terribly well except for Josh Barnett. Consider Chuck Liddell going to fight in Pride in 2003.. Chuck was the UFC LHW Champ at the time and he lost to Rampage. It makes this rematch all that much more exciting. In the end though, I thought Crocop would walk through the UFC heavyweight division so I'm eating crow. |
Quote:
As for Chuck going over and getting beat: "On any given Sunday". If these other UFC/Pride convergence fights have been any indicator then Chuck is going to absolutely f**k that guy up. |
Gonzaga knew what to do standing up, in mount, and respectable at the take downs.
He's going to be brutal with some seasoning. His specialty was supposed to be ground fighting and he turned out the lights on Mr. Kickboxing with a kick... |
That was some kick. Mirko must have robotic legs. I don't know how the hell he was standing and walked out of the ring after his foot turned 180 degrees when got KO'd.

Since Pride fighters get reset anytime they lay near the ropes, they lack one essential skill set. They dont know how to fight their way off the fence. Crocop is probably wary of the cage. Crocop had trouble defending against Gonzaga's elbows (another difference in ground rules) When Liddell fought Rampage he got pounded near the ropes. he seemed to be stuck on his back. If chuck could have braced himself against a fence he could have gotten up. without a fence, he was out of his element. Liddell also fought in Pride in 2001 against Guy Mezger. He didnt exactly look sharp in that fight either. Mezger landed alot of solid punches against Liddell. The only thing Liddell connected with was a KO counterpunch in the second round. Undoubtedly, Chuck is a better standup fighter than Guy. Maybe the ring (that was Liddell's first fight out of a cage) had something to do with Liddell looking rusty. Rampage won't struggle with the rule changes or cage as much since he got his start in King Of The Cage. |
