****OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread****

My Pistons lead Orlando 1-0

Tayshaun Prince came through late and the Pistons made their free throws to seal it.

Let's hear it people, if an NBA fan - who are you rooting for?

greg63 04-21-2007 09:14 PM

The Bulls won today.

Darts ho!

I'm going with New Jersey in the East (assuming that Jason Kidd is still playing for them). And ... San Antonio in the West.

Vince Carter AND Jason Kidd, be very afraid - however they got basically nothing else.

My money is on Detroit or Chicago vs. San Antonio or Dallas

As you can tell, I haven't followed the NBA for a long time, Mr. chagrin. I figured that NJ would be a long shot, but I like Jason Kidd.

I'm happy to know that San Antonio has a chance. They seem like decent folks to me. There's probably only one or two players on that team that I would ban.

I'm pulling for Chicago in the East and Dallas in the West.

Mr. Plow 04-22-2007 12:16 PM

Crap. I think should shorten the NBA season to 20 games and a single elimination tournament of 4 teams. That way it can be over by Xmas.

I think they should shorten the NBA season. Although 20 games would be quite a drop. Perhaps they could cut the season in half to about 40 games. I do agree that there are too many teams in the playoffs. Perhaps they should reduce them to about 6 teams per conference. That would be more in line with other professional sports leagues.

One question, though. Why would you want the season to be done by Christmas? I like the fact that the NBA playoffs are starting right now. Hell, there is nothing else worth a crap to watch. Baseball? Boring. Golf? Super boring. NASCAR? I would rather have a root canal. Hockey? Mildly entertaining but still not that big of a deal to me.

Seriously, I don't watch the NBA. But doesn't the season basically run August-June?

The NBA regular season starts in November and the Finals are played in June.

kcxiv 04-22-2007 01:02 PM

they wont ever reduce the amount of teams. You just dont do that when its been like this for years and years now.

Anyways, its game time. GO LAKERS.

Demonpenz 04-22-2007 01:42 PM

this years playoffs should be interesting.

NJ Chief Fan 04-22-2007 03:07 PM

Pistons/Spurs 2...this time we're taking back the gold!!

kcxiv 04-22-2007 03:22 PM

Well, Lakers gave it all they got, outside of Kobe and Lamar, they have nothing.

The worst team in the playoffs in the west would be a top 3 in the east....the numbers aren't the problem it's the horrid management of all the eastern teams.

I hope the Suns make it since that team is great to watch maybe some more teams will start playing that way.

I like the Suns, too. But there is no way they get past Dallas or San Antonio. Both those teams play good defense and Phoenix is not great at defense.

Psyko Tek 04-22-2007 06:03 PM

GO SUNS

We will beat The Spurs
and own Dallas

well we beat them, twice

Smed1065 04-22-2007 06:12 PM

Suns

RAAAAPPPSSSS

Easy 6 04-22-2007 06:20 PM

I'll take the Bulls in the East...

...and the Suns in the West, i'm a big Steve Nash fan.

Megbert 04-22-2007 07:04 PM

Living if Phoenix the Suns are the only team I really come to embrace in the local market. I did enjoy the D-Backs in '01 beating the Yankmees.

As for the Suns not playing D While they don't play the grind it out defensive heavy games that the East is known for. They do play D pretty well. If your team is trying to score most possessions with less than 7 seconds ticking of the shot clock, this is going to give the other team many more possessions, than if they were playing a team trying to shorten the game by taking shots with less than 7 seconds left on the shot clock. They want the other team to take a lot of shots because when they miss it usually leads to an easy dunk by Marion or Amaré or Barbosa. OK layup or jump shot from Barbosa.

I'd rather watch a game where both teams score in the 90's or higher than a 74-70 game.

I'm taking the Mavs...Go Mavs!!

kcxiv 04-22-2007 09:37 PM

Mav's are losing! Golden State playing well.

Silock 04-22-2007 09:41 PM

Baron is hot.

kcxiv 04-22-2007 10:15 PM

Game over, Mav's get upset by the 8th seeded GS.

Lzen 04-27-2007 08:56 PM

Bulls up 3-0 on the defending champ. Fantastic!

The Suns are really fun to watch. But what the heck happened last night? I thought they were gonna win that game and I find out today that they lost it.

Dallas has their hands full is GS. I still don't think GS can hang with Dallas for an entire game, though.

Direckshun 04-27-2007 09:37 PM

GO GOLDEN STATE GO

Chiefs Pantalones 04-27-2007 11:10 PM

How 'bout Hinrich and Da Bulls!!!

Oh and GO SUNS!!!!

Smed1065 04-29-2007 07:57 PM

As long as they took out the Heat in a sweep, I am happy with them.

Direckshun 04-29-2007 08:26 PM

I agree. I love how the 'Mavs' have been penciled in to make it to the next round. The longer this series takes the better for my Suns. I hope anyway.
