Yeah, supposedly though they've replaced a lot of the music in the actual episodes to avoid copyright problems, which was the reason it had never been released on DVD in the first place.

Never heard of it.

A classic, clean comedy, I have many of the episodes on VHS along with 20 year old commercials; that really confuses people who come over and watch and see a commercial for 1987 vehicle. :)

You'd better edit that out of your post before Bob Dole sees it.

It was a great show. The local paper gave it a bad review because they said the deleted scenes because of the music copyright issue.

WKRP IN CINCINNATI — THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON

One of the most requested DVDs ever has been “WKRP in Cincinnati,” the classic TV sitcom set in a radio station that changes formats on the arrival of a new program director.

While it’s good that the series finally made it to DVD, it’s bad that the show is a shell of its former self because it’s been cut to shreds due to music copyrights. When you have a show about the radio industry, and can’t play the songs originally in the show, there is a problem; cutting the affected scenes from the show entirely makes the situation even worse.

This is a terrible DVD release of a great show and a tremendous disappointment to fans.

Price: $39.98.

Wow, thats too bad...cutting the original music out of WKRP would be like cutting the surgery scenes out of ER.

Mosbonian 04-22-2007 05:32 PM

I know it's pretty cut up due to royalty issues, but I will take what I can get. I liked this show more for it character interaction rather than the music behind it.

Yea, they probably really had no choice but to release it that way. Fans have been clamoring for it, so they knew there was some money to be made on it no matter how badly the music or scenes had been cut up.

I'd gladly pay $75 per season if they were to license the original music. It's worth it, easily.

I don't know.....I like the episode where Andy's old buddy came to assess the station for Mrs. Carlson and was trying to sell his programming services. Andy came up with the idea of the staff acting completely opposite of their normal personalities.....
