i just got off the phone with Pizza hut and order a pizza and some wings. :D

Pizza hut phone number - 648-8888

all Kansas Pizza Huts are donating 20% of each order to the relief fund to help the Greensburg Tornado victims. Make sure and tell them you want that donation.

That's a great idea.

DaFace 05-10-2007 11:51 AM

It's actually state wide in Kansas, for what it's worth. Make sure you specifically request it to make sure, though.

I just went the one here in Hiawatha for the buffet for lunch and not a single seat was available. I'll grab one on the way home tonight for supper, Greensburg will survive!

Saulbadguy 05-10-2007 11:56 AM

We tried to do it today but the wait was 3 hours.

20% of each order or 20% of the profit?

Easy 6 05-10-2007 12:23 PM

That pic is insane.

According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, it's 20% of sales (so 20% of each order).

On Thursday, Pizza Hut restaurants in Topeka will donate 20 percent of all sales — dine-in, carryout and delivery — to the United Way Greensburg Disaster Fund.

In a news release Tuesday, the United Way of Greater Topeka said customers must request the donation be made to the disaster fund when placing an order.

“We are not surprised by the outpouring of support for our fellow Kansans in Greensburg,” said Nancy Perry, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Greater Topeka. “Helping one another in times of great need is what we do best.”

The United Way Greensburg Disaster Fund has been established through the United Way of the Plains office in Wichita.

I'm jealous of you all. Pizza Hut sounds great for lunch, but I can't feel as good about it as you guys.

The girl and I got the Family Pack for lunch. Good stuff. I'd post more about what I think about donating to Greensburg, but I already did in the LPGA golfers post:)

We got this email from Pizza Hut marketing in Wichita:

This does puzzle me a bit. I've read in two separate newspapers that it is supposed to be 20% of SALES. But this is officially from the franchisers organization, and it says 20% of PROFITS.

It's a good cause either way, but that's a BIG difference in terms of the revenue generated for the cause.

DaFace 05-10-2007 04:56 PM

I'll mention that I ended up ordering Pizza Hut for lunch, even though Greensburg won't get any of it. Damn successful charitable marketing techniques.

I got two medium pizzas and 10 wings for 19.99 without a coupon. Very good deal I thought. Giving to a good cause never tasted so good.

ShortRoundChief 05-10-2007 06:16 PM

or you could just donate the $20 to them

Bugeater 05-10-2007 06:48 PM

I don't understand why you have to request for the donation to be made. I suppose it's still better than doing nothing.

probably because they want to keep track of the impact it has on their sales.

might be using it as some kind of tax break too.

either way knowing which sales where specifically for donation would be helpful information.

ChiefFan31 05-10-2007 11:13 PM

That is very cool of Pizza hut to do that. I obviously can't order up, but that is good of them to do.

Hopefully some other places will follow suit and do something along those lines.

Why would you have to state it? Why not just donate 20% across the board for the day rather than only do it for the customers that request it.

It's ENTIRELY different. If it's 20% of sales it's a charitable act. If it's 20% of profit it's nothing more than a promotion. I'd like to know if anyone finds out about this for sure. Whatever they're doing is nice and all, but if this is a way for them to make 1 dollar off of that disaster, I will never eat their pizza again. It's one of my favorites too.

Because at the end of the day, they are a business. Shitty though, I agree. If they are going to promote it, they should just do it for all sales. Folks should not have to be aware or remember to say.

007 05-10-2007 11:23 PM

So the question is.....

Did Pizza Hut make a profit yesterday?

Demonpenz 05-10-2007 11:24 PM

If i were godfathers I would promote along with tornado warnings, because their logo looks like a tornado

What an incredible promotion by Pizza Hut.
Good for them.

Abba-Dabba 05-11-2007 03:42 AM

Unfortunately for some reason Pizza Hut didn't take online orders yesterday. So I went with a toasty sub from Quizno's.

And maybe it is my paranoia or just the ass in me. Wouldn't it have been a better charitable night if the promo happened on a Friday night instead of Thursday? I'm sure Fridays are probaly their busiest and most profitable day.

I'll tell you what IMPACT this had on thier sales here in Junction City, KS.

We have 2 pizza huts in town and the one I usually call is take out and delivery ONLY. I called at 5:00 PM and I was on hold for more than 10 minutes. :banghead:

I hang up while still on hold and call the 2nd Pizza Hut that is Take Out or Dine IN ONLY.

Make my order thier because I decided takeout would be FASTER than delivery. They told me it would be 45 minutes for my order to be ready.

F*** ME :cuss:

There was NO FUGG'N place to park for a BLOCK around the Pizza Hut.

People were lined up OUTSIDE the door for takeout. Another line was halfway to the door for dine in and I spent 1/2 an hour just getting close the the counter.

Finally they started calling names out and "MY NAME" got called ahead of 6 people in front of me. I got to cut in line. PBJ PBJ

Long story short.... It was for a good cause but I am dissapointed in PIZZA HUT here in JC for NOT BEING READY. They had to know thier business was going to increase by a good margin?
