King of Queens Series Finale

Anyone watching it next Monday?

The Franchise 05-10-2007 12:32 PM

I'll be there.

Phobia 05-10-2007 12:34 PM

Is that broad still as big as the dude?

penguinz 05-10-2007 12:35 PM

She lost most of the weight.

TrickyNicky 05-10-2007 12:36 PM

Yes. It was a good series while it lasted.

Phobia 05-10-2007 12:36 PM

I might watch it. I stopped when she got big and even more mouthy than before. It made me feel like I was taking half an hour out of my day to watch my ex-wife on the tube. I couldn't deal with that. If she's lost the weight, I might be able to watch.

TrickyNicky 05-10-2007 12:37 PM

She's still mouthy, just doesn't sound as congested. Its part of her character, I hope, or yeesh.

She lost most of the weight and Doug looks like he took on the weight she lost.

Simply Red 05-10-2007 12:38 PM

nope.

eazyb81 05-10-2007 12:42 PM

I watch the re-runs at night, but I don't think i've ever watched a new episode.

El Jefe 05-10-2007 12:56 PM

King of Queens is my favorite show. I am definetely watching it, I think she is looking pretty dang good. I am sad to see the show end but they gave us 9 good years of television (i think its nine correct me if im wrong I am going from the top of my head).

stlchiefs 05-10-2007 01:00 PM

Last year when I made it home for lunch everyday, that was my lunchtime show on re-runs. I love the show, but don't make an effort to watch it on weeknights, reruns work for me.

chagrin 05-10-2007 01:00 PM

So is what's her name going to have an eating contest with Artie Lang and explode in the finale?

fan4ever 05-10-2007 01:09 PM

I saw some tv thing where they followed her around in real life; she's a lot like her character on the show; bitchy and demanding. I've always thought he was great; the show was kind of a modern day "Honeymooners".

I actually didn't even know the show was still on... but I do catch re-runs from time to time.

Leah Remini...

Deberg_1990 05-10-2007 01:13 PM

Wow, she was smokin...i didnt realize she had put on some weight? Did she have a kid or just let herself go?

Yes Please. Can I date your daughter Mr. Kerosi?

El Jefe 05-10-2007 01:26 PM

She let herself go. She was a big big girl man, she was almost as big as Doug lol.

She's a nightmare, heard a lengthy interview with her on Stern several years back, yikes - she's terrifying

Iowanian 05-10-2007 01:38 PM

That show was alot better before Leah got fat, bitchy and joined the Cruise Cult of Scientology.

I've always thought Kevin James' character was believable and funny.

Yes. Had a kid, used the pregnancy to bid her hubby to work Baskin-Robbins down to 5 flavors.

Very good comparison, I hadn't thought of that. Both are great shows and hate to see it end.
I can really relate to fat guy, in a couple of ways, I play golf every Saturday with three UPS guys.

You're wrong. It was only 4 seasons....just felt like 9.

KcMizzou 05-10-2007 03:34 PM

I've only caught the occasional re-run. Kevin James is a pretty likeable guy.

Not a bad show at all, for such a worn out, over-done formula.

Fire Me Boy! 05-10-2007 03:43 PM

I just thought this thread needed more pictures of Remini when she was very hot (she's back to lookin' great, but there were a couple of seasons there...).

Kerry's winy ass is an annoyance on the show and she did extend the pregnant weight several seasons. Last year I thought they pseudo cancelled it because it aired at the end of the year when other series failed.

The show is worth watching for the Dad. He takes the Costanza Dad character a step further.

Go Arthur!

007 05-11-2007 01:44 AM

Best ep was the pole dancing ep.

kcxiv 05-11-2007 01:58 AM

Arthur is awesome. He's the best character on the show. Doug is a great character as well.

Direckshun 05-11-2007 02:02 AM

I love how unappealing guys always end up with hot babes.

He's an overweight UPS guy with limited intelligence. Sounds like a real gem there, ladies.

Troy1220 05-11-2007 02:03 AM

Best episode has got to be when Doug shoots himself in the nuts with the stapler gun...

Of whom? Me, or television sitcoms that consistently pairs up goofy goofballs with supermodels?

Media in all its forms affects society. What we see on family sitcoms reflects what society holds as social norms and stuff like that. One of the things that sitcoms reinforce is that all women need to look like Leah Remini while all men can look like Kevin James, I think his name is.

Women need to have a particular shape, appearance, and manner while it's okay for men to be unattractive, slovenly, and frequently completely disinterested in the things important to his friends/family.

I hate that this has been typecast into sitcoms, and I believe it's one of the reasons that sitcoms have just grown stale.

There is quite a few decent comedy sitcoms out right now. I wouldnt touch that shit in the late 90's and early 2000's.

My name is Early is my fav comedy atm.
2 and a half men. Its a very good show.
King of Queens of course.
The Office is ok. I can take it in very small doses.
scrubs its just a damn great show imo.

Think thas about all i can think about, or ones i pay half ass attention too.

'Hamas' Jenkins 05-11-2007 02:44 AM

The wife and I were taken aback at some of the physical discrepancies between couples when we were on our honeymoon. Generally you figure it's because the guy has a lot of money, because I'm trying to figure out why a 90 pound woman would want to be trapped underneath a 260 pound gob of flab and chest hair....but then you see a guy like Kevin James get a girl like that, and well, you know that unless she's completely fucking crazy that would never happen, because he's physically hideous and mentally...err, subpar.

It may seem shallow, but human pair bonding generally is.

That is why I love Everybody Loves Raymond. It is one of the most realistic series ever made as far as family life and what the average family is.

Neither one looks like a model. Both have flaws. Both have issues with the in-laws. Both have trouble with the kids but manage just fine.

The only off thing about the series is Debra is a stay at home mom.

I love that show as well. I still think it's still pretty extreme with Raymond's indifference to his wife, but for the most part it's a very entertaining show and pretty realistic.

Oddly enough, I think the sitcom that most reflected the average family was Rosanne. But that might just be a reflection on my own upbringing more than anything.

WOW. Maybe the average disfunctional family. I hated that show. Of course, I can't stand Rosanne either.

EDIT OK maybe disfunctional was a little brutal. I see your point about working class issues. As I said, I really can't stand Rosanne Barr so I had a hard time really enjoying the show.

I think that was a very honest portrayal of working class life in middle america, from the bad boyfriends of the daughters to their poor choices, to Dan's labor troubles, failed businesses, I always found it quite accurate (coming from a poor community myself).

Well I was thinking more in the vain of four-camera sitcoms that typically take place in one or two settings. But I gotcha.

I do enjoy My Name Is Earl. King Of Queens, despite my criticisms, is a pretty funny show. The Office is a brilliant show, one of the best on TV in my opinion, and Scrubs is great but an acquired taste.

2 & a Half Men is pretty lousy, though.

Not that you needed my opinion on those shows, but now you have it.

I don't think it's that disfunctonal. What parents don't have problems with teenage kids. At least her and Dan stayed married, even amongst their problems. Didn't they? I didn't follow the last few seasons.

'Hamas' Jenkins 05-11-2007 03:00 AM

I will say this: to me, if a current show has a laugh track, it's hackneyed. Scrubs, Earl, The Office are all great shows without any of the canned bullshit that you get from nearly all CBS comedies.

I myself could only take the show in small doses, too.

I watch TV to primarily escape reality, not to recapture it and watch my life on TV. My life sucks, dude.

Use Torrents. I just got into the office over winter break...I watched the first 2 seasons on DVD, but wanted to catch up....so I downloaded all the third season ep's via a torrent site, burned them on DVD, put them in a Divx-compatible player, and got caught up in just a few days.

Scrubs is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time. I love that show. Unfortunately, I didnt ever watch it until 6 months or so ago... so the wife and I don't watch any of the new episodes and watch them a season at a time when they come out on DVD.

I enjoyed Roseanne, but it was in spite of Roseanne Barr. I love John Goodman, may he rest in peace.
