The Chiefs start off 4-2 and change to Brodie Croyle
They then proceed to lose 3 close fought games in a row. Do you support sticking with Croyle or changing back to Huard?
Hootie you don't need to vote.:p |
If the Chiefs start off 4-2 with all of those games to start the season on the road, I don't think any changes will be made unless injuries occur. If however, that was the case, No. I wouldn't change back to Huard. At 4-5 playoffs would be pretty slim, and at that point you let the kid play the rest of the year to evaluate whether he is a long term solution to the position.
|
Would not change in that scenario.
|
No way would any coach in the league make a QB change if they were 4-2 unless they were forced because of an injury.

Are you the neck guy? I don't have any shit to talk, I'm just curious. |
I think we should start an all-Muslim team.

You can't change to Brodie Croyle after 4-2 if he's the one already starting. :)

Like others who have already posted, I'd be shocked if the Chiefs made a non-injury-related QB change if they were 4-2. If they made the change because of injury, I'd favor going back to Huard. If they made the change just because they wanted Croyle to show them what he could do then I'd want to stick with Croyle and play it out.
|
Why would we switch to Croyle at 4-2?
And it won't matter because Croyle will be starting on opening day. |
LMAO
|
If you start with Huard and move to Croyle, there's no going back, IMO. If Croyle gets yanked at that point, no matter what his record is, you stand the chance of wrecking the confidence of the guy who is currently your best option for QOTF.
Once you go to Croyle you've made a commitment to his development, and you have to stick with what he brings you for the rest of this coming season and one more at the very least. Sitting a 4-2 Huard would be a sketchy decision, but Plummer got yanked with a winning record. |

What are the Chiefs first 6 games this year?

Fine, I'll look it up myself.

First off, if the Chiefs started off 4-2 with Huard then why change? That would make zero sense. Unless, Huard got hurt? then okay you have no choice.

I'm not a Damon Huard fan... I just thought we had a pretty competitive team last year, and we could've made some noise HAD we benched Green. Green didn't work with our team last year...our line wasn't good enough to enable Green to be effective. Huard was doing fine with our shitty line because when he had any doubt he'd dump it to Larry or heave it to Gonzo...and it was working. So please, don't get it confused...I could careless about Damon Huard...if Croyle is ANY good, I'll forget real fast about Damon even being a Chief... That being said, I rather go 10-6 and enjoy the season then 3-13 and want to kill myself after every Sunday. I hate the idiot fans who would rather lose to see us pick up a better draft spot. **** you. |

With or without JaredUI Allen, if we lose to Houston in week 1, we're in for a long season. That's not a good team. At all.
|
WHAT IF...a comet falls from space and plasters Carl Peterson and he is in like a coma forever, would you support bringing in another GM?
These What if games suck...lets just let it play out and see what happens...THEN we can bitch our heads off. :deevee: |
I don't think this situation is at all feasible. If they have any confidence in Croyle, he will most likely start the entire season. Herm has talked over and over about wanting to get better on the road. The does NOT mean letting your QB get broken in at home. It may be wiser, but it goes against what Herm is trying to do.
EDIT: However, if that were the case, I still support Croyle. In the AFCW, it would be tough to get in at 4-5, so you just develop him. Unless he destroys all hope for potential development. Then you put in Huard, and start watching Sr. College QB's. |
It looks to me like a young team starting this year..that said, Ill be disapointed if we lose to Houston..I think we'll play Chargers down to the final minutes too...
|
Herm is too conservative to switch QBs at a 4-2 mark.

I see the Bengals game as a 50-50. Jags game is probably about 60-40 in our favor. |
I would get the qb that gives a chance to win on sundays if that maybe huard bring him in.
|
Croyle starts the entire season.
|
Manning or Brady couldn't get the Chiefs to 4-2
|
3-3 likely
Houston W Bears L Vikings W SD L Jags W Bungles W-L Bungles could go either way. and Croyle/Huard Don't get Geathered. |
Croyle we will the starter for the Chiefs from the get go.

Now if he does not have what it takes.... then yes.... QB is probably high on the draft list. Personally, I think he is going to make it. |
Wow. Turns out my crystal ball is missing. Oh look what a coincidence; all of yours are missing as well.

I simply stated he was better for the Chiefs last year than Green was. And I was right. And it pains you so much you can't even admit it...lol |

On these premises, the question is, how furiously is Logical rubbing his love lump right now over all the dour pessimistic speculative fantasy going on? |

Huard was 5-3 as a starter. Green was 4-4. He was SO much better for the Chiefs. Furthermore, you keep going back to last season. Where's the righteous indignance about Huard being the starting QB THIS season? Oh yeah, your hero let you down when he signed a BACKUP contract without ever exploring free agency. |

If you don't think Huard was the better QB than Green LAST SEASON, you're in denial, and truly displeased that I was right after-all. As for Croyle being the starting QB this season...we'll see...but if he is, against our opening schedule...what a waste of a 'could be' promising career. He's doomed if he starts this season...we'll be using a #1 on a QB next year. And that sucks. |

Of course there are always exceptions...but we saw how good Philip Rivers was last year, and he didn't play for two full seasons... Why not let Damon face the tough part of our schedule...if he fails (like he probably will), let Croyle take over and take the pressure off the kid... If we start 1-3 with Croyle...KC fans are going to be calling for his head, he's going to lose all confidence, and every uninformed fan will be booing him at Arrowhead and calling for Huard, JUST LIKE LAST YEAR when Green began to struggle. You guys aren't looking into this very deeply... But hey, if you want to see a guy get his confidence shattered, that's your problem...I'm kind of hoping he's our QB of the future...which is why Damon NEEDS to be starting @ Houston week 1. |
Quote:
|
Great...let's go 1-15, draft Brohm, start him immediately, shatter his confidence, and be set back 5+ years just like the Texans...
OR we start Huard the first four games, let him start 1-3, bring in Croyle, give him 7 of 9 at home, build him a little confidence, get a pretty good pick in 2008, and build from there... I'll take option 2. |

Will you ever give up this Huard thing? I thought I was bad with my Herm rants, but yours are making my little rants seem trivial by comparison... |
Croyle Starts! Period...
IMO, the let the wrong backup go... Green would be 10 times the mentor to Croyle than Huard could ever dream of being... Trent was/could still be a Pro Bowl QB... Huard is and always a will be a backup/never was.... |

Get over this Aikman thing. For your ONE example of a young QB overcoming a terrible season, I can think of a HUNDRED examples of young QB's with MUCH MORE HYPE than Croyle who didn't... Shit, is Croyle even as good as Charlie Frye? People were comparing him to Montana before last season. Mike Golic himself... |
Quote:
He couldn't even complete a 3 yard pass to LJ in the flats...he is rattled now, for good... Without Roaf protecting his blindside, Green is simply an average QB, at the very best. And so is Huard...but at least Huard can find his playmakers rather than force the ball to Samie Parker (Green's weapon of choice!) |
Quote:
And I find the comparison intriguing because I don't think Aikman's a great QB. He was very competent at leading the massive talent assembled around him. And I think we're getting in a swing of much better drafting. So if Croyle is put in there, not expected to be the saviour, but to hone his craft, as the talent around him gets younger, faster and stronger, I'm fine with that process starting as soon as possible. Breaking his bones is a reasonable fear, breaking his spirit has no foundation. |
Quote:
Regardless, Mr. Last year.... Looking forward there is no one on the current Chiefs roster deserves the shot to be under center more than Croyle. We saw enough of Huard in Miami and Pittsburg games to know he can't get it done agianst real defenses... Its all so trivial.... Herm knows that Croyle is best option for the Chiefs to grow and succeed as a team over the course of the year and next year... Starting Huard sets the Chiefs as a franchise back AGIAN another 2-3 years... |

And we all saw how good Herm is at evaluating the QB position...after all, he is the guy that chose Pennington as his starter when he was CLEARLY injured two years ago when the Jets faced the Chiefs week 1...that was the most AWFUL performance I've ever seen from an NFL QB...and Herm allowed that guy to take the field...a guy so mentally out of it because of his shoulder he couldn't catch a shotgun snap. |

Once they change, I don't think they should go back unless (a) Croyle is playing only because Huard was injured and Huard is ready to come back, (b) Croyle is injured or (c) they decide that Croyle is not the QBOTF. I might support a change if Croyle is stinking it up in a playoff game and the coaches think bringing Huard in might give the team a "spark" but I'm not sure.
Edit: Ooops, didnt' see that this was an old thread. I'm glad my answer is consistent with my original or that would be embarrassing. |

funniest post EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL |
I just can't see a change at QB after a 4-2 start, but I'd stick it out with Croyle if he were given the job.
That way we can decide whether to stick with him next season or move on. |
