What should I do?

I just got an email from the Padres that I was selected from the pool of people that submitted a chance to buy NLDS game tickets...I can purchase beginning tomorrow at 9 am....

The Padres at the end of tonight will be either 1 game up or in a 3 game tie for the Wild Card...

I really wanted to go, but w/ Bradley and Cameron out for the season I don't think we have a shot in the playoffs...

Tickets start @ $35 each and there is this little disclaimer at the bottom of the page...

Note: Game dates and times are subject to change. All sales are final. Tickets purchased through this special opportunity are neither refundable nor exchangeable, and may not be used for promotional purposes. Should you attempt to purchase more than the maximum number for a single game, your ticket order will be voided without notification.

So, Im guessing that if they dont make the playoffs I am out?

What would you do?

Buck 09-25-2007 10:57 PM

Wait a tick, I just found this...

Padres Non-Played Game Postseason Ticket Return Policy: If a game is not played, DO NOT RETURN THE TICKET. Tickets for all unplayed games will be credited to the account of the party that originally purchased the ticket from the San Diego Padres.

So now my new question is would you pay $35 to see your team in the playoffs even if you knew they aren't going to win?

Hammock Parties 09-25-2007 10:58 PM

Wouldn't buy tickets unless they make it to the NLCS.

Rain Man 09-25-2007 10:59 PM

So if they don't make the playoffs, you don't get your money back and just get credit toward next season? That seems greedy of them.

That depends. How much did you spend when Marty was coaching the Pats game last January?

$98

Buck 09-25-2007 11:02 PM

And when I posted the first post in the thread, the Padres were losing 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th, but they just took the lead 6-4, if they can hold on they will be one game up on the Rockies and the Phillies.

TinyEvel 09-25-2007 11:02 PM

See, so you're ahead by like 55 bucks.
Go for it. If they go all the way, you'll regret it. fans, we live off of hope, right? (and hotwings)

At least we know what Playoff Baseball is, we've been there a few times since you've last been...4 to be exact, maybe 5 this year.

Not to bag on the Royals, but damn a 22 year drought????

cdcox 09-25-2007 11:09 PM

If in doubt, and you can afford it, buy the tickets. There are only so many chances to see your team in the playoffs.

Yeah. What kind of five-year plan are the Padres on?

and how many champioship flags?

tk13 09-25-2007 11:18 PM

I'd say go for it. The National League is wide open. If you guys get in, I think you have as good of a shot as anyone else. Nobody thought the Cardinals were gonna win it last year... but they rode one great starter a good bullpen. Padres have the same thing.

I think this is year 4....

Petco opened in 2004,

2004- we were over .500 for the first time in 6 years

2005- Won the NL West w/ a 82-80 record

2006- Won the NL West w/ a 89-73 record

2007- Milton Bradley and Mike Cameron both taken out for the season in the same game, w/ only 7 games to go. The Padres were 1/2 game up in the NL West 2 weeks ago, yet are now 2 games back and only 1 game up in the Wild Card...

2008- Im guessing a flat out shitty season, we will sell at the Deadline and start the rebuilding process once again.

Rockies up 9-6 on the Dodgers in the 9th. Those guys are on one hell of a roll.

CHENZ A! 09-25-2007 11:21 PM

If you call yourself a fan, you'll buy the tickets.

Shit man, They may make the playoffs this year, but next I think they will take the NL West (if not the NL) no doubt.

Great point, I'm sold...

Last 2 years I've gone to an NLDS game we've got our asses kicked by the Cardinals, at least we won't be playing them.

Maybe. They have one of the worst ownership situations in MLB. Let's see if they're willing to spend the money it takes to keep a team together.

Heres what they need to do...

A. Release Todd Helton
B. Keep their Bullpen intact
C. Sign one more good Starting Pitcher
D. Trade for Manny Ramirez

ClevelandBronco 09-25-2007 11:28 PM

9-7 Rockies, one away in the bottom of the 9th.

ClevelandBronco 09-25-2007 11:30 PM

Tying run at the plate.

I haven't gotten to root for Manny since he was with the Tribe. That'd be fun.

BTW: Game's over. Rockies win their ninth straight to tie the club record.

WTF, give us some breathing room for once...

This whole season, if it wasnt the DBacks it was the Dodgers, if it wasn't either of them it was you guys...

It seems like we are the only team who hasn't had a big winning streak...

We won 7 straight, and then you guys swept us in our last 3 games at home this year.

Buck 09-25-2007 11:39 PM

Holy shit, we got a guy from Saudi Arabia on our team...

It's been fun watching it from here. It looked impossible a week and half or so ago before the Rockies swept the Dodgers then the Padres. It was only supposed to be a matter of when the Rocks were mathematically eliminated.

Buck 12-26-2008 04:28 PM

I just paid $741 for my Playoff Tickets (8 Seats, Parking, Convenience Fee) for 1 game. Hopefully the Bolts make the playoffs...

Your team won't get in the playoffs, so no
