Do we go back to run first next week?

Jacksonvilles weakness seems to be against the run. They are killer against the pass. I would say that based on that, our coaching staff will game plan a steady dose of LJ, and pass only when necessary. I hope not, because I think that Bowe and Gonzalez can do well against them. Look at what Marshall did last week.

Tinlar 10-01-2007 09:45 AM

We'll be back to LJ running into 2 LB's and a Safety all on run blitz. We'll be down 10-3 at half. The second half, who knows where we'll be :P

BigRedChief 10-01-2007 09:47 AM

Better not. The mantra has to be pass first to establish the run and get those 8-9 guys out of the box so LJ can find some holes to run.

I'm not so sure that Jacksonville's ranking against the run is very legit. My guess is that they aren't bad against the run. They got exposed badly the first week of the season against Tennessee, but have they given up a lot of yards since?

It's folly to assume a team can't improve in that area.

Oh, knowing us, we'll go all pass against a good pass defense.

We like to call it the "slam your head against the wall" offense.

trndobrd 10-01-2007 10:02 AM

Since the concept of "mixing-up" the playcalling is beyond the coaching staff, I suppose we might as well run it.

Did you intend for this to be a question?

He was a little hard on you but no worries.

Mr. Laz 10-01-2007 10:10 AM

of course we will ..... we don't have enough talent to go all fancy-smancy with dem dere forward passes.

StcChief 10-01-2007 10:18 AM

exploit the Jags D is the answer, if that means run first so be it.

RedThat 10-01-2007 10:34 AM

Im ok with running on them, as long as its not in the middle.

picasso 10-01-2007 10:46 AM

One thing we did do this week agaainst eggo is we shifted more that was a huge plus for us. The one thing we didn't do is run LJ on the edges.

I am just used to fixing Big Duddy's 3rd grade grammar. Sometimes I go overboard a little. Sorry. :)

I don't claim to be perfect. I would have spelled grammar as grammer until I saw your post.

beach tribe 10-01-2007 11:36 AM

Maybe well run for 123, and pass for 284.

You didn't bother me, I was just being a smartass.

Jacksonville has those two Pro Bowl caliber defensive tackles in Stroud and Henderson.

Bearcat 10-01-2007 01:08 PM

I don't think it's about game planning as much as it is about play calling and adjustments. The Pass-Run-Pass strategy on every freakin' drive of the first half was ridiculous.

It's nice we have a defense we can rely on keeping us in games, but one of these days we'll find ourselves down 3 scores at halftime against a QB that isn't going to turn it over a bunch of times in the second half, and whatever they've been doing in the lockeroom the past couple of weeks won't work.

I think it's called an audible.... we need to update this pic...

FYI.......John Henderson is back after being out against the Broncos. Also coming off injury is Brad Meester the Jaguars starting center. The Jaguars run defense numbers are off because of the horrific showing against the Titans in week one. The defense is still angry about that one and will be all year long.
