I would have laughed if he would have missed the first field goal and nailed the second

That rook was ice. What a concept, a kicker who makes clutch long kicks...

Agreed. I've thought this was chicken**** ever since The Rat did it. Apparently, I'm in the minority, but IMO, it is a shady move.

Ya'. but how could you possibly change it? Kickers are just going to have to get used to it. Totally legal play.

Dylan 10-08-2007 11:05 PM

Aww the hell with them. They can take a seat next to my team, your team, cowboys team and the rest of the other 27 losers in Jan.

Bills fans are probably in the garage looking for a piece of lumber to hit someone with.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-08-2007 11:12 PM

They deserve it because they hired Jauron despite his track record in Chicago.

kcxiv 10-08-2007 11:30 PM

There is no way you can change that rule. YOu should be able to call a time out anytime before that ball is snapped.

Extra Point 10-08-2007 11:31 PM

They got what they deserved! Another thread!

I know it is totally legal. But that doesn't mean it is not shady. Look at the Broncos line for God sakes.

Realistically the only way this will stop is if the officials consiously decide not to acknowledge it. They could easily say the timeout was not recognized in time, forcing the coaches to call it sooner. The arguement will lie in the duration of time it takes to get the time out called.

IMO, I think it will have to get rediculously out of control before anything will be done about it. I'm not calling for a rule change or anything outlandish because it won't happen. I just think it is shady.

meStevo 10-08-2007 11:50 PM

I think it will get changed this offseason. When a team is in FG formation, a timeout should not be allowed the last 10 seconds of the playclock. If you need a timeout you should have called it by then, otherwise it's just being malicious and it'll get changed 'for the spirit of the game' or something.

Not my idea, was a broadcasters after it first happened.

kinda like last year with Tynes

KCChiefsMan 10-09-2007 01:59 AM

it is pretty shady, but it's legal. All is fair in love and war I guess

Delano 10-09-2007 06:48 AM

If you have timeouts left, why should you not be able to use them?

Why the hell doesn't marlborochief get IP banned?

kcfan82 10-09-2007 06:49 AM

Denver started it, then Oakland followed, and then a college team tried it this weekend or last.

As you can see, Shanahan is an innovator in cheating.

Bearcat 10-09-2007 06:56 AM

When you only score 3 points on offense, it's hard to complain about losing.

It's funny when you think about it.... Romo has 5 picks, but keeps throwing it down the field, taking chances, and ends up helping his team in the end. Edwards was ultra conservative, only made one mistake, but lost the game.

:hmmm:

Amnorix 10-09-2007 07:19 AM

I feel bad for the Bills and their fans. It's the only AFC East team I don't despise. But they have had just about the worst luck of any NFL team I've ever seen.

1-15 is entirely realistic. Half their starters are out, and many ofthem on IR. They weren't going to win the SB anyway, but what they've had to deal with in terms of injuries is beyond the pale.

I agree. Gamesmanship is one thing. This particular action is quite frankly juvenile. I understand calling the timeout is within the rules. But isn't this PROFESSIONAL football?

beach tribe 10-09-2007 07:22 AM

I would like to know if they coordinate it with an official.
It would be kind of tough to call time out RIGHT BEFORE the snap.
I would just line up and wait for them to call timeout otherwise.

AOL user, probably.

Chief Henry 10-09-2007 10:06 AM

If the time out is there to use, use it. Buffalo deserved to loose that game because they
shit in there pants on defense the last 2 minute sof thaat game. There LB and CB's were playing back 15 yards off the receivers. What an idiotic thing to
do.

Chief Chief 10-09-2007 11:08 AM

Think about it: The Bills gave the Cowboys kicker a free practice shot. It's not like he wore out his leg on that one kick and then didn't have any energy left to pop another long one.
