ESPN Power Rankings Post Week 5, an outrage!

Power rankings don't mean shit, but this is the biggest sports media corporation in the world and it's a slap in the face. Chiefs are dead last in the AFC West? At least they have a defense that keeps them in every ballgame. WTF!!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerr...on=2007&week=6

12. Chargers 2-3

19. Broncos 2-3

20. Raiders 2-2

25. Chiefs 2-3

Basileus777 10-09-2007 12:44 PM

I can't really fault them for having us so low, but the Broncos being higher than 28 is a joke. The Chargers are also way too high.

Direckshun 10-09-2007 12:45 PM

We have absolutely no room to complain after the loss to the Jags.

Hopefully we can toss Brodie in there and he'll change things around.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-09-2007 12:45 PM

I don't give two shits about this stuff. I do find it comical though that ANYONE could put a team that lost at home to the Chargers 41-3 six slots ahead of the same team that beat San Diego the week before in San Diego by 2 touchdowns.

ChiefsCountry 10-09-2007 12:46 PM

Hmm didnt we beat #12 team. Oh wait I forgot that is the San Diego "The best team ever not to make the playoffs even though they were 9-7 and the Chiefs and someother team were ahead of them" Chargers.

the Talking Can 10-09-2007 12:46 PM

i'm outraged they don't have us ranked in the top 10

Hootie 10-09-2007 12:47 PM

sadly these are about right as of now...

Hootie 10-09-2007 12:47 PM

personally, I'd say it would be:

Chargers 12
Chiefs 19
Raiders 20
Broncos 26

but that's me

Not really. Denver is one of the worst teams in the league, and San Diego isn't that good either. The Chiefs are probably where they belong, but the rest of the list is pretty bad.

ChiTown 10-09-2007 12:48 PM

Well, at least we're ranked...........

No way. Denver is NO higher than 29th, and you can't give #12 to a team that gave up 30 points to one of the leagues worst offenses while playing at home. Top 12 teams are playoff teams, and playoff teams don't shit the bed like that.

I think San Diego has the potential to run away with the west...

But I'm hoping KC is as good as I still think they are, I think the Chiefs still EASILY have a shot at the division.

I agree, I think the Broncos are awful.

One of the worst teams in the NFL.

They SHOULD be 0-5...

King_Chief_Fan 10-09-2007 12:52 PM

who gives a flying rats rear end?

The Chiefs suck and ANY ranking below 16 would reflect that. The Chiefs are not very good. It is a degree of bad you are concerned with? Bad is Bad

I agree Mr. Hootie (whoever you are). In the suck bowl that is the AFCW, it's not inconceivable that we could wind up as the floating turd.

9-7 might be enough. The AFC West is in competition with the NFC South for the honor of being the worst division in football.

Uh, with the exception of a garbage time touchdown the Chiefs were basically shut out at home against a middle of the pack team.

Actually, 8-8 might get it done, Mr. Basileus777. With the winner getting the "last team not to wallow in its own vomit" tie breaker.

Garbage time? Garbage time? Dude, we ran the 60 minute offense drill to perfection.........

InChiefsHeaven 10-09-2007 01:00 PM

It is funny that all 4 teams have 2 wins, and we beat the Chargers who thumped the piss out of the Donks, giving them their 2nd home loss in a row...and the Donks' wins were squeaker luck jobs at best...

...but they are 6 slots better than us...

...pay no attention folks...nothing to see here...

I don't know. Jacksonville might be the 3rd or 4th best team in the AFC right now. That's just how the AFC is... they're ranked 6th there in that power poll, and it might be right.

Jacksonville is a really, really, really good team - a team we don't match up well against at all.

Now Cincinnati...

This is a team we can beat.

Jacksonville is dominant one week and then will lose to a shitty team the next, thats their MO. Unfortunately for us, we faced the good jags.

back in the Leftwich days...

Garrard >>>> Leftwich

A much better fit for that Del Rio team...

It was true under Garrard as well. This is hardly the first time Garrard has started, he has played for significant amount of time the previous two seasons as well. The Jags still exhibited the same inconsistency with him.

Its too early to tell if they have changed, they've played four games and did lose to the Titans.

Garrard was 4-1 or something like that as a starter two years ago...

Hootie 10-09-2007 01:20 PM

and the Titans are also a pretty good team, or at least they can be a good team as long as VY doesn't throw three picks...they almost beat Indianapolis.

With Garrard they lost to teams such as the Texans, Bills, etc. Which is exactly the type of inconsistency I was talking about. It wasn't just Leftwich, it was the team as a whole. Garrard was 5-5 last year.

I agree. For once, it's not just because I wish they were 0-5. It's because they REALLY, REALLY suck baows.

The AFC South is far better than any other division right now. If you wanted my top 5 in the AFC... it'd be NE/Indy/Pitt/Jax/Tenn.... and three of those come from the same division. And to be honest, I'd probably rank Houston 6th. 4 of the top 6 teams in the AFC.

I think that might be what's throwing everything off and making the AFC look weird and unbalanced. Other than New England and Pittsburgh, every other non-AFC South team looks really flawed right now.

Houston is good with Andre Johnson and Ahman Green in the lineup, but with those two guys injured, damn - they look totally average (at best)...

Duck Dog 10-09-2007 01:33 PM

We don't get respect when we are playing well, we're certainly not going to get any love when we suck.

Bearcat 10-09-2007 01:33 PM

They aren't going to move teams 20 slots in a week.. that would be as irrational as, well, Chiefsplanet.

The Broncos were 2-0, lost to 2 good teams, and got blown out.. they moved down 9 spots for getting embarrassed at home. We were where we deserved to be last week, having moved up 7 spots for beating the Chargers. We get thumped at home, we move down 4 spots.. not as much as the Broncos, because Jax > SD. If the Broncos had lost like that in week 1, they would have dropped 20 spots.... the same difference between Michigan/App State and USC/Stanford.

We are the worst team that's no more than 1 game within .500, and I think that's about right.

LOCOChief 10-09-2007 01:38 PM

As long as we win out the AFC I don't care. Oh and even as much as we suck right now the broncos definitely suck more. We'll beat their sorry arses twice this year. PRINT IT!

ROFL ROFL True statement.

Tiger's Fan 10-09-2007 01:49 PM

As long as he's here, we'll always have the dumbass coach handicap.

chiefsfan1963 10-09-2007 02:13 PM

who cares about this really. The fact is we're a pretty bad football team going the wrong direction. It is sad to see how low we've dropped in O.

We threw the baby out with the bath water when DV/AS left. Yes our D improved but overall we are worse off as a team!

Real effective change can only occur with a Total New Front Office, and an owner that has a desire to win a championship and build a dynasty!

If Indy and Pats can do it so can we!

MahiMike 10-09-2007 02:36 PM

This ain't college football so who cares?

FringeNC 10-09-2007 02:44 PM

The sagarin computer rankings have us at #29. I wonder if we were even that low during the Frank Ganz era. It's been a long time since we've been this bad.
