Interesting read, thanks.

I'm suprised that aTm is rnked higher than Nebraska, considering Nebraska's decades long dominance.

And fuck Notre Dame.

Granted. But they have been a good, not great, college team. I'm suprised they pull that kind of revenue over a team that was (and I do mean WAS) considered the top tier of college football for so long.*

*DISCLAIMER - I am in NO WAY a Cornhusker honk.

Demonpenz 11-21-2007 11:08 AM

:hmmm: Didn't see Kansas on the list either. Must just be a bunch of poor farmers out here.

Nebraska has money, but I think the Texas schools get contributions from big whigs like the Bush family.

Ahhh Notre Dame. It's nice to see us #1 in something right now. Too bad it's nothing important for the fans.

We're just happy to be where we are.

Spott 11-21-2007 03:25 PM

South Carolina at #12 surprises me......were they ever good before Spurrier? And what the hell have they done recently?

Alabama and Auburn both in the top ten is also surprising considering Alabama is one of the poorest states in the country.

How were these rankings determined?

Money, dude. And you know what those three teams have in common?

Conference.

SEC = CBS = $.

"Unlike the other programs on our list, Notre Dame's athletic department operates under the umbrella of the university and is not run as its own distinct entity. As a result, a much higher share of profits are retained by university for academic use."

Well, that's a great reason to support Irish sports. Why don't the other programs on the list do that?
