Question about todays attendance
It looked like there were a LOT of empty seats
were people making a statement? did it seem hollow? |
Game wasn't blacked out, that means tickets were sold. Carl could care less if people show, as long as the tickets are sold.
|
just wait till the titans game
|
I would imagine it was 49% full at the start of the game. When we were only down by 7 at the end of the third quarter, people were already leaving..but that might of had something to do with the cold as well. Either way it was ugly. Most people aren't making a "statement", they just don't want to sit in the cold to watch a shitty team play football. It's as easy as that.
|
3/4 stadium seemed filled but about half time or 3rd qtr it was half empty. it was pathetic i have zero wins this year when i attend in 5 tries
|
This was the first Sunday that I didn't have the expectation that they could win. We went through the motions, ordered the BBQ and dressed in the jerseys and put the Big Chief outside, but I really didn't expect them to win
|
At the end on TV Tony G looked very unhappy
|
Last week I didn't bother to use tickets I had already paid for (wise decision, as it turned out). I suspect similar attitudes account for many of those empty seats. I also suspect that brokers and other people who bought seats with the idea of making money off reselling them are the ones getting pulverized right now, not the organization, which already made its money off of them.
Next year is when we'll see the blackouts, IMO. Lots of them. After that, the Hunt$ will finally be forced to shitcan Carl. |
I'm wearing a brown bag over my head to the Titan's game with two little holes. Or maybe something else I can conjure up. Anybody have any ideas?

Well, not so much. |

I noticed around the beginning of the fourth quarter that the top deck of the stadium was far less than halfway full, and the lower decks looked maybe half or a little more. People are voting with their feet on the Herm/Carl ("Hurl") regime. We need them on the first train out of here.

Good lord it was cold out there today. |
Lots of empties up in the upper level. Scattered empties throughout club level and lower level. Club level was nearly empty in the middle of the 4th. The rest was emptying out quickly.
|
As far as next year goes, I'll probably come down for the Border War game again, but I have no plans on paying to see the Chiefs again until Herm and Carl have been cleansed. No Sunday Ticket next year, either.
|
it seemed like no one was in the yellow backed chairs during the 4th quarter and the upper tier was pretty empty as well

Serious question: I'm going to the Titans game. Can I bring a small white board with me? You know, the boards where you can erase messages? I've got a lot of things I want to say to Herm and Chiefs (mis)Management.

|
First game I ever attended was in I believe December 96 against the Saints...bono had been down all season with the collar bone...Gannon had done great and then they played Bono against the STS. We won, but it was an ICE storm...beer froze between the consession stand and our seats...man that was cold

I don't get the empty seats. The tickets cost a fortune. How can people afford to just burn their tickets game after game? All of mine this year were either used by me or sold at face value. (Except for preseason, of course.) I wonder if any of the people that bought mine just said, "eh, screw it. Let's not go."

On a personal note, another thing that was different about my trip to Kansas City last week - for the first time, I didn't buy ANY Chiefs merchandise. Didn't even bother to stop by Sports Nutz (bought nothing but Mizzou stuff, and I did that at the official MU store in the Columbia Mall). |

I know I did something stupid today, my season tickets are in the upper deck - well we were blocked from the wind and sun was on us. But we saw all the empty seats below so we moved down to lower level and froze my a$$ off. It was 10 to 15 degrees cooler down there.

Yes it was Grbac...my mistake...but are you sure it was 97? |
cracked me up that people started leaving as soon as we were down by 7 in the 3rd.

I could see how someone could confuse Bono and Grbac.

How many of those tickets were bought by the stations though??? I predicted before the season started that the Titans game would get a blackout, of course that would be diverted if the tv stations buy them all at a huge discount.. I would expect half or less depending on the weather for that game.. |

Not go and be out your 55-90 dollars.. Go and be out that initial cost plus, parking, food, beer and watching the chiefs O.. Seems pretty simple to me on what decision most would choose... |
If I have tickets to a game, you are damn straight I go to the game.

I sold my tickets for this game. Apathy reins. |
The cold is a lot easier to deal with when the team is good or there is something to cheer for...

It doesn't take a rocket scientist (or an accountant) to figure out the bottom-line, financial impact of no-shows. |
FWIW, when they were honoring Jerome Woods before the game, Carl was booed. It was pretty loud.
|
The announced attendance of 74,874 was the smallest at Arrowhead Stadium in almost six years.

Woods made his choice to lay down and play cautious and then bitch and moan about how he lost his starting job. The way Woods went out was shameful and he should never have been "honored" on the field. |

Last time I saw Jerome Woods, he was being slapped around by Daunte Culpepper.
|
The fans are starting to revolt. Its about f'n time.

Let me change the thought a little ... I don't mind following a team that is building towards becoming a champion. i.e. even the early days of the Royals. They lost a lot of games but we could see the progress and delighted in watching "our" team. I think I see a slight ray of hope, again, with Moore as GM??? If Kingless/Herm would give us a blueprint for rebuilding the team ... I could go watch in freezing weather. But, with this mess it's hard to watch it even in my comfortable living room. But, with CP pretending we will win the SB this year and forcing Herm to play Huard to start the season so the team could win enough games to keep the $$$ rolling in ... one gets a hopeless feeling that things will never get better, coz he is only concerned about this year's bank account. |

Yesterday's loss may have been worse in warmer weather, since San Diego is also a warm weather team. |
You are correct ... :banghead: I did a search and finally found the temps ... man, I sure don't remember it that way ... maybe I just glamorized the cold weather over time or maybe it just turned that cold after watching Garo Yepremian make the field goal. :nosmilie:
