What should it have been (BCS)

Here's what you got:
Sugar: Hawaii v. Georgia

Fiesta: West Virginia v. Oklahoma

Orange: Virginia Tech v. Kansas

Rose: USC v. Illinois

BCS National Championship: Ohio St. v. LSU

Which matchups would you have preferred?

Saulbadguy 12-03-2007 10:00 AM

Looks right to me, except i'd sub KU with Missouri.

Garcia Bronco 12-03-2007 10:01 AM

Virginia Tech vs LSU(again)

or

Virginia Tech vs OU

siberian khatru 12-03-2007 10:03 AM

I don't like the Rose sticking with its Big 10 tradition. That and the 2-team rule screwed MU. (Yes, I know -- :deevee: )

So blow up the stupid rules and put KU in Miami and MU in Pasadena. :harumph:

Hydrae 12-03-2007 10:04 AM

I think OU - LSU would have been a better NCS game. I think OSU is going to get embarrassed again this year.

Molitoth 12-03-2007 10:12 AM

Take away the 3 team conf rule:::

Title Game:
Ohio State (1) vs LSU (2)

Fiesta:
West Virginia (9) v. Oklahoma (4)

Sugar:
Kansas (8) v. Hawaii (10)

Orange:
Virginia Tech (3) v. Missouri (6)

Rose:
USC (7) v. Georgia (5)

I know, I know... those would be good games.

I know I'm in the minority, but I still think I'd put OU in the championship game over LSU. Oklahoma was inconsistent, but so was everybody else. I think they have the most talented team in the country.

Oh ya, and MU should be in the Orange Bowl :p

Title Game
- Ohio State vs. Oklahoma

Rose Bowl
- USC vs. Georgia

Fiesta Bowl
- West Virginia vs. Hawaii

Orange Bowl
- Virginia Tech vs. doesn't matter because nobody wants to watch Virginia Tech

Sugar Bowl
- LSU vs. Missouri

InChiefsHeaven 12-03-2007 11:44 AM

I'd like to see Nebraska in the title game...

...oh, you meant realistically?

...sorry...

bobbything 12-03-2007 11:46 AM

Championship

Semifinals

Rose Bowl
#1 vs. #8

Fiesta Bowl
#2 vs. #7

Orange Bowl
#3 vs. #6

Sugar Bowl
#4 vs. #5

JBucc 12-03-2007 11:49 AM

Just going by what I think would be the best games and ignoring tie ins and tradition.

Championship game: Oklahoma vs Georgia

Rose Bowl: USC vs Missouri

Sugar Bowl: LSU vs Ohio St.

Fiesta Bowl: Hawaii vs WVU

Orange Bowl: Florida vs Kansas

Chiefnj2 12-03-2007 12:24 PM

My vote:
Championship: LSU v. VT
Orange: OSU v. Oklahoma
Rose: USC v. Georgia
Fiesta: Mizz v. Hawaii

Archie Bunker 12-03-2007 12:27 PM

MU vs Hawaii would have been one hell of a ball game.

Anyong Bluth 12-03-2007 12:29 PM

I'd definately like to see OU vs USC in the Rose. You could make a justifiable argument that either game could be for the NC- seeing as how I think these 4 teams probably could make an argument, but whatever?

That two team rule is a bunch of crap too. They want to make sure the money is balanced amongst all the conferences.

Conferences that have three top ten teams should be rewarded not punished.

They need to throw that rule out.

dtebbe 12-03-2007 12:39 PM

The glaring issue is Kansas. Georgia does not get to go to the championship game, becuase they did not win thier conference, or even go to the conference championship game for that matter.

On the other hand...

It's pretty clear that if 2 teams go from the Big 12 it should be the two teams that played in the championship game, especially when you consider that the team that didn't get invited to the BCS (Missouri) handed the team that did get invited (Kansas) thier ass two weeks earlier (on a nuetral field none the less), and the one team missouri lost to twice Kansas never played. No way a loss in a conference championship game should put you behind a team in your conference that wasn't even in that game. reeruned.

No way Ohio State should be moving up the standings when they are not playing either. That's total BS.

All this being said, I bet Missouri still ends up ahead of Kansas in the final rankings once the bowl games are over.

I don't see how any team can move down when they don't have a game. I can see moving up but not down.

Not a complaint, just an observation.

It all balances out.

KU and MU are probably not top 10 teams. They played well in the relatively weak Big XII.

I agree, spread vs spread.....Hmm have given much thought to what that could of been, but it would be an awesome game. I would take MU because Hawaii doesn't have a defense and shouldn't of beat Washington.

dtebbe 12-03-2007 12:57 PM

What happens if Hawaii blows out Georgia and LSU wins in a tight game over Ohio State. Who is #1 at that point?

The fortunate thing is that this may be the beginning of the end for the BCS.

DT

ChiefsCountry 12-03-2007 01:07 PM

They should have just went down the list by the BCS rankings IMO. That should be a new rule, and I'm not talking about Mizzou getting screwed either heck Arizona State has a gripe as well since Illinois leapfrogged them. I would keep the no 3 team thing, I think its a good rule. Here is what I would have done:

National Championship
LSU vs. Ohio State

Rose
USC vs. Missouri

Orange
Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia

Fiesta
Oklahoma vs. Arizona State

Sugar
Georgia vs. Hawaii

Because it would give a monitary advantage to the conference for one.

Because there would be 4 to 5 Big 10 teams in the BCS every year.

Which would be odd considering they are the worst conference in the 6 majors

1 SEC
2 ACC
3 BIG 12
3 PAC 10
5 Big East
6 Big 11

We couldn't be so lucky. :banghead:

Ari ümlaüt 12-03-2007 02:33 PM

i'd put MU in the Overstock.com bowl. So they would cry some more, because there just aren't enough tears currently.

Valiant 12-03-2007 02:38 PM

Should have said **** it and pitted MU against KU again in the Orange...

SO this years decision of MU getting kicked out of the BCS bowl games is legit?

That couldn't have taken place without screwing OU.

If a conference is deserving of having 3 teams in the BCS Bowls, it should have.

As I have said in a previous post, there is a possibility that a conference could have an undefeated team win the conference championship and have 2 other teams only have 1 loss. How shafted would the team with the 1 loss feel in that case.

The BCS only works if there are 2 undeated teams from any of the 6 BCS conferences. :banghead:

Very seldom is there 4 to 5 really good teams in any of the BCS conferences.

Even this year only OSU was the only team that had a better then average year, and even at that, it is questionable because of the strength of schedule. Granted, that could be said for a lot of the collegiate teams this year. Teams need to be punished for going to the bakery for thier schedules. And yes I know that schedules are made years in advance, but scheduling mid-level teams from the MAC can't be counted on to be good quality competition. Can they?

Its the right decision but wrong team. If you saw my post - go down the BCS rankings and take the teams from there.

Exactly. The system is flawed. We need a playoff system.
