He was FIRED for his meddling. He went to the Spanos family and the Spanos family fired HIM instead of A.J. Smith.

IF Lamar Hunt would have fired Marty before the 1998 season, the Chiefs may have had a very different season.

San Diego was WISE to not make the same mistake, regardless of this season's outcome.

Pacyoursh*tman had nothing to do with it. All that came out well after Reese was gone. There was basically a rift over the McNair deal and the Vince Young pick. Fisher won and Reese left. Who know who was right or wrong. Time will tell.

I like Reese because he knows the game and has the proven ability to do what it takes to win. Plus, he's a good cap guy - although it should also be said that he took the Tacks into cap hell on their route to the Super Bowl, so that's a bit of a concern, I suppose. But, at least, he got them there.

He refused to give them up and was fired by Modell. There were personnel issues involved as well but they weren't as pressing as his refusal to hire an O.C.

Personaly I've been ready for a " rebuild " for 10 years :( But they NEVER cleaned house so it is a half assed rebuild. I just don't think that Carl Peterson is as dumb as the fans contend. I think he hired Herm to oversee a complete reconstruction of the roster, both offense and defense. And since the defense had more young talent, they've chosen to start with that segment of the team.

But all in all, we're all frustrated. And worn out. And tired of an inferior product.
