A man fell to his death during the 49ers game Sunday, tumbling 20 feet from the upper concourse to a concrete walkway at Monster Park.

The identity of the man was being withheld, pending notification of his family and an investigation by a medical examiner.

Lisa Lang, the 49ers vice president of communications, said that the San Francisco police department has ruled the death an accident after interviewing witnesses.

"It's a very sad day for all of us," Lang said.

The fall occurred between 2 and 3 p.m., Lang said, when a fan toppled over a wall near a concession stand. The wall is four feet high and six inches thick.

The fan went over the wall and landed on a ramp leading to the mezzanine level, Lang said.

That sucks. RIP.

Saulbadguy 12-10-2007 12:29 PM

I remember a few years back at Arrowhead a fan fell from the upper deck and fell to the lower level.

Bowser 12-10-2007 12:34 PM

Now watch his family sue.

The Franchise 12-10-2007 12:34 PM

The 49ers are so bad......it's killing their fans.

Baby Lee 12-10-2007 12:35 PM

I'm still getting douchechills from the footage of that skateboarder falling on the halfpipe. Glad he survived.

RIP in this case.

MOhillbilly 12-10-2007 12:36 PM

ChiefsCountry 12-10-2007 12:45 PM

Suprised it doesnt happen more often. Last year I saw some idiot fall off the circual ramp at Arrowhead lucky for him the Gates BBQ tent saved him.

HypnotizedMonkey 12-10-2007 12:47 PM

Gonzo 12-10-2007 01:10 PM

Yep, that was in 2001 against the Steelers. The guy fell over the railing and landed on a 10 year old kid just to the right of us. The guy was stupid drunk and I'm amazed that the kid wasn't seriously hurt.

Chief Chief 12-10-2007 01:21 PM

Would it be a really bad thing to hope that this particular S.F. fan is known nationwide as THE Barry Bonds?

Fishpicker 12-10-2007 01:34 PM

RIP

I wonder if he was sitting on the wall or if he was very tall. toppling over just doesnt seem likely.

This isn't the same incident, but at last years' Broncos game some guy jumped off of the top level of the spiral walkway through the canvas roof of the Gates stand in the lower level, but seemingly survived. There's a thread about it buried on here somewhere.

I know there probably wasn't a lot of people at the game but damn, can't we narrow down this timeline a little bit. Did he lay down there for a while until someone found him?

Buck 12-10-2007 02:40 PM

This happened this year at Qualcomm too. No word on if he survived.

In this case it was a drunk fan doing a handstand on the side "rail" of the spiral ramp.

Redrum_69 12-10-2007 02:56 PM

I'm guessing the security was running the Cover 2 defense yesterday

HonestChieffan 12-10-2007 03:07 PM

The little people who live beneath the stadiums do this.

That was in section 321. The dude was drunk as hell and dropped his wallet or cell phone or something. When he bent over to pick it up he passed out and rolled over everyone in the five rows below him. My brother was one of the rollees, he was in the second row.

Demonpenz 12-10-2007 03:48 PM

arrowhead is so steep that one guy actually started picking up speed as he rolled over peoples slick Starter jackets

MahiMike 12-10-2007 05:12 PM

i saw a dude do a handstand on the outer ramp from the top of arrowhead. scared the crap out of me just watching.

catfish307 12-10-2007 06:36 PM

Fu#kin Chiefs make me want to climb to the top of the Arrowhead scoreboard and do a header on Herms car.

I work with him. He is really a great guy. His pager went off under his seat, and when he tried to pick it up...he blacked out.
