New Look BB

Am I the first to see the new look on the BB? I can't believe someone hasn't commented on it yet. While I think the overall look is great I have one problem (doesn't everyone have to have just one gripe?). Is there anyway to get the origional type size back? Sorry, but I am an Old Geezer :) . It's hard for me to read the smaller print.

But hey, I'm flexible. I thank Kyle for all the work he's put into this BB. Just wanted to hear what the rest of you all thought.

mcan 07-24-2001 04:56 AM

No, I saw it at about 2:00 this morning. It looks good, but the type is too small. Good work though. I wish more people worked at a computer from midnight to eight. It gets a little lonely here.

ExtremeChief 07-24-2001 05:13 AM

I like the look as well.... but it doesn't fill up my screen. Is that normal, or just something I need to change on my comp???

appreciating the hard work...

old_geezer 07-24-2001 05:20 AM

I must have the same look as you do ExtremeChief. I have approximately 1" black or dark green boarders on both sides of the screen. If we could lose that maybe the print could be made larger. :) Must go to work now. Check back later.

Old Geezer squinting and typing. :D

FloridaChief 07-24-2001 05:22 AM

yeah, what they said...

Just wanted to echo the thoughts of the others...I like the sleek new look, but the font's a little too small for my eyes.

Bob Dole 07-24-2001 05:26 AM

If you're using IE 5.5, you can enlarge the text size by selecting <u>V</u>iew, Te<u>x</u>t Size, then choosing one of the options.

Someone else will have to speak up about a Netscape/Opera/Lynx solution...

<font size="+4">Or we could all just start changing our font size in each message we post.</font>

FloridaChief 07-24-2001 05:53 AM

Nope, that didn't work, at least for me. I've got IE 5.5 and changing the font view size does change all the ancillary text but does nothing for the Planet's default message text--it still appears the same size.

Looks like we all might have to post in the larger font-size to be seen

better...

Bob Dole 07-24-2001 05:58 AM

<font size=3>Strange. On Bob Dole's screen, choosing "larger" bumped the message text up a couple of points.</font>

Mark M 07-24-2001 05:59 AM

Wow ... I wake up and everything looks different. I think I like it, though.

As long as I can get on easier from home and at lunch, then I have no complaints. :D

~~Gives congrats to Kyle for all of the work he puts in on this site.

A public service

I tried to use the SIZE pulldown menu and had no success.

If you will bracket your posts with:

{size=*]text[/size}
Where * is the font size. You also have to type [ for the { and ] for the }.

This is SIZE=2
This is SIZE=3
This is SIZE=4

shakesthecat 07-24-2001 07:02 AM

Ditto on the font size being too small.
Other than that, nice work!

Chief Henry 07-24-2001 07:10 AM

I don't mind the new look at all. By now most of you know that I'm not very tech cordinated. As long as I can posat some stuff I'll be fine.

I think!!!!!

Fat Elvis 07-24-2001 07:35 AM

Gotta love the speed though....

HC_Chief 07-24-2001 08:24 AM

Much better so far (performance-wise)

I like the font size...but then again, I'm <i>not</i> a geezer (hehehe) :p

HC_Chief 07-24-2001 09:04 AM

looks like I spoke too soon...

I still have mucho problems trying to open a thread about 15 minutes ago (11:00 am, EST). Logging into the site itself is, as usual, no sweat. It's just trying to open a subject thread that causes a lag.

Anyone else still experiencing this?

philfree 07-24-2001 09:17 AM

I like it but the real test starts between 11:00 and 1:00. Will it be possible to login? Or will it be as frustrating as the Star BB was? Just when you have something important to say you can get on.

PhilFree

~Greatful to have any board at all~

NaptownChief 07-24-2001 10:02 AM

I like the black boarder...More manly atmosphere.

BIG_DADDY 07-24-2001 10:07 AM

I like the new look and am wondering if there are any new features I don't know about yet. The font could be a little bigger.

AustinChief 07-24-2001 10:13 AM

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments, this whole deal is kind of a work in progress, we are still working on the probs with the server but we make some quick changes to the look of the board. Please keep the suggestions comming in and we will make the change.

First change we will be making - larger font. Don't be to distressed if the look of the board changes a little over the next couple of days.

BIG_DADDY 07-24-2001 10:28 AM

Grassyass :D

dollar1 07-24-2001 10:35 AM

CCCEEEEWWWWWLLLLL.

I don't much care what it looks like or what it can do, as long as I can read and communicate...AND IT DOESN'T TAKE 3 MILLION YEARS TO CHANGE PAGES!!!!

BTW for those who can't read the type size. Move the monitor closer or re-new your tri-focal prescription.

Bob Dole 07-24-2001 12:38 PM

FYI Kyle,

As of about 15 minutes ago, the initial attempt to post a reply receives an error. Pressing "back" and resubmitting works, however.

Also, the number of replies for the thread isn't updating at present.

Tribal Warfare 07-24-2001 01:09 PM

I think the black border is irratating, if you implement the KC Chiefs arrowhead then I could bear it.

tommykat 07-24-2001 08:27 PM

I'm exhausted....lol.....everytime I get online this place is different tonight. Milkman you'd think I was tipping a few. Na, a couple but this is wild....:D

old_geezer 07-24-2001 09:10 PM

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the larger font size. Old Geezer happy as a toad in mud. :D
