If the Chiefs hadn't been dumb enough to sign LJ and Gonzo to huge money then Allen is a no brainer to sign. Now I don't know. That's a lot of money to have wrapped up in three players, only one of whom (Allen) plays at an impact position.

there isn't a DE in the league that doesn't lose containment...it happens to them all, a lot....

between Gretz and WPI we're stuck with a 3rd graders take on the NFL....the only proof you need that God Hates The Chiefs....

Allen is worth whatever a team wants to pay him.

Even Brady has a weakness, it just doesn't get exposed that often.

Between good protection and his ability to slide away from pressure in the pocket, he rarely has to get outside the pocket to make plays.

But he is a rather poor passer when forced to move out of the pocket and make throws on the run.

They both had 55 solo tackles.

The entire defense was undisciplined the second half of the season. Part of it is coaching and part of it was the defense trying to do too much.

2nd: Allen is containing the backside, the backside in this case just happens to be half an acre because the DTs are getting their butts kicked and the LBs are nowhere to be seen.

This is a rediculous thread. The entire defense over persued on that play. Allen is worth elite money because he pressures the QB better then almost any other DE in the NFL. At times he is the best. He led the league in sacks. Are you going to show one clip of Champ Baily getting burned to prove he sucks too? Peyton Manning threw 5 interceptions against the bolts the last time they played...does he suck?

I'm proud of Jared. He does completely suck, no question. But he was able to overcome that suck to make it to the pro bowl in spite of his suckness.

GOATSE, I like you but you post some of the most assinine threads sometimes. If I had your computer skills I would probably find a bunch of Freeney footage that would show him out of place. Non of the superstars are perfect and without a few instances of mistake. One clip does not make Allen a worse player..... Sheesh!!

I don't see any penetration, but now that you mention it, Mr. rtmike, it sort of looks like the RB is changing direction to get away from Allen's backside pursuit.

EDIT: Now that I've watched it again, it actually looks like the D did a pretty good job of sliding toward the point of attack. And JA did overrun the play.

Correct me if I am wrong -- The Chiefs run a 4-3 scheme... They don't change it up with a 3-4?

GOOD DEs are hard to find... When a team runs one defensive scheme (standard 4-3), and your right DE weighs 250-285, he's going up against 310-350 left tackle's -- LT's will run through the DE on most running plays, especially if the DE drops back into coverage. He becomes another outside LB. I'm also aware that Hali is a rookie.

I am not completely comfortable expressing my feelings -- unless I feel sure they have already been considered by members at ChiefsPlanet. With that said:

Jared Allen is an all around dominant DE .. Winning the 2007 Sack Title is icing on the cake.

I should also point out that Allen missed 2 games. He could have at least 16 or 17.

Allen plays on the worst D-Line of any of those guys. By far.

Allen is amazing. He's young. He has speed and best of all -- he stops offensive plays in their tracks. Talented DE's are not easy to find. Everyone's looking for one though -- lol

Last year I was against giving JA the big new contract that he wanted. With the DUIs and all. Now, the way he dedicated himself to his game, I'm all for it. We are way under the cap. The great minds at the Chiefs front office say they won't be significant players in the FA market. GIVE SOME OF THAT MONEY TO JA!
