The disappearing car door

now this is a pretty nifty little device for your car.

More room to get in and out, no more door dings, and no more having to climb over the passenger seat to get in because some douchebag parked too close.

Can get that on my private submarine or my prototype commuter hover vehicle?

Buns 01-12-2008 07:36 PM

I'll take two

doomy3 01-12-2008 07:40 PM

I am pretty intrigued by these things.

kstater 01-12-2008 07:44 PM

Awesome. But door dings aren't eliminated until dumbasses stop running into my car.

teedubya 01-12-2008 07:46 PM

thats pretty pimp. great concept. That must have been invented by an ENTP.

ChiefaRoo 01-12-2008 07:47 PM

I like it, but if that lower edge pad that appears when the car door is down becomes a part of the visible interior when the door comes up then your going to have everything from scuff marks to mud and dirt inside your vehicle.

It will break down, just out of warranty.

JohninGpt 01-12-2008 07:56 PM

That's pretty cool, but I've already eliminated the problem with me giving other people door dings, I just watch what the hell I'm doing. Now, if everyone would do that, we wouldn't need disappearing doors.

Rain Man 01-12-2008 08:13 PM

I want one. I really, really want one.

Frazod 01-12-2008 08:21 PM

That rocks!

I bet it would void the warranty on the submarine.

Phobia 01-12-2008 08:57 PM

That crashed my browser.

what exactly happens when your battery dies? Or what happens when you are in a wreck... or how can they get you out with the jaws of life? I am sure they have a solution, just curious as to what it is.

Chiefmanwillcatch 01-12-2008 09:01 PM

nice.

BigMeatballDave 01-12-2008 10:00 PM

Those are all very valid questions. I'll let you know when mine arrive next week.

JBucc 01-12-2008 10:05 PM

I didn't really watch much of the video so I don't know if they mentioned it, but is there some sort of safety stop device like on an elevator? It would suck to cut your leg off if you accidentally bump the button while getting in.

Screw the safety stop, this thing is a miracle device, not only does it prevent you from dinging your nieghbors door, but it chops fire wood and slices bologna! How much would you pay for that!?!

Fat Elvis 01-12-2008 10:13 PM

I thought it was really cool until I saw the little kid sitting in the back seat with a safety helmet on. I just don't want to be associated with the type of people who make thier kids grow up wearing a freaking safety helmet while they are strapped in and sitting down.

They may have just picked him up at the short bus stop.
