****The OFFICIAL Giants vs. Tony Romos! thread****

In honor of Bob Dole.

I think the Giants are going to pull out a squeaker at the end, with Romo throwing a pick in the endzone with like 10 seconds left in the game, down by four.

Spott 01-13-2008 03:49 PM

Go Giants!

BigRock 01-13-2008 03:49 PM

What a day this could be for the Mannings.

Spott 01-13-2008 03:50 PM

I wouldn't mind this Manning winning today.

EDIT: Nevermind. You got a VERY early start on me! My thread can drop now. :sulk:

The Giants playcalling is excellent so far.

FloridaMan88 01-13-2008 04:10 PM

Interesting that Tampa and Indy both failed to win a playoff game this year after essentially shutting it down towards the end of the season and resting their starters. Dallas did the same thing and looks like garbage thus far.

stonedstooge 01-13-2008 04:21 PM

Tony Romo

I get tired of the Tony "Waterboy" Romo hype that has been going on this season. He has had two good years and looks to have lots of potential, but for the media to place him in the same light as some of the great ones that have performed year after year is premature in my opinion. I think he needs to demonstrate the consistancy that the Favre's Brady's and Manning's have before declaring him as a player of their caliber. But I wish the Chiefs had him.

Mecca 01-13-2008 04:21 PM

Wait till Dallas gets rid of Julius Jones and drafts a better partner for Barber...

Ints run in the family based on todays Indy game but Id take Eli or someone with his skills on this Chiefs team in a heartbeat

Dylan 01-13-2008 04:37 PM

At this point in his career, Eli is doing more for his team than his brother, Peyton did.

Eli already has a playoff win in his third year as a starter. Peyton didn’t get his first playoff win until his sixth season.

The guy has all the talent in the world he just hasn't realized it yet. He may never realize it, but I'll take that kind of risk, especially over Crodie Boyle..

No, quit it. Stop comparing Eli to Peyton. Not the same guy. Eli makes some Ryan Leaf like decisions. Lets take a look at some Career Stats.

ELI MANNING: 73.4 QB rating; AVG: 6.3 yards; 77/64 TD to INT
DAMON HUARD: 82.0 QB rating; AVG: 6.7 yards; 31/23 TD to INT

I mean freaking honestly. Stop licking Eli Mannings nuts. He's horrible. Has been horrible since coming into the league. The sad thing is he hasn't gotten ANY better since coming into the league four years ago. It's not like he's getting any better. And no I wouldn't trade Croyle for Eli. It might be a toss up, but at least Croyle is younger. Croyle has just as good of an arm as Eli, and the jury is out on if he's reeruned as Eli is in regards to throwing into triple coverage.

Eli had Toomer, Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, Brandon Jacobs, Plaxico Burress. I mean come on now.

And how??? The surrounding level of talent is better, but not really at QB. The Giants don't really have a hand. Eli is #1 round talent, they have no choice to stick with him. It's a financial decision more than anything.

Eli has thrown more INTs every year since coming into the league, and his TDs or yards aren't going up. If anything, the Giants have done more in Eli's time than the Colts in Manning's time despite Eli.

For all you can say about Manning if you'd rather have Brodie Croyle than him, there aren't words for that.

If you look at results ON THE FIELD, and not the fact that he's a Manning offspring or a #1 pick...I really think a swap of him and Croyle would be a complete toss up, if not in the Chiefs favor not to do so.

Mecca 01-13-2008 04:51 PM

Eesh drops the pick.

I'll take Brodie over Eli as of this point. Eli's prone to INT's, especially in his 4th year in the league.

Eli exactly haven't shown me that he's worthy of being number one. The Chargers made a excellent decision to trade him to the Giants for more picks.

Eli's overrated, always have been, always will.

Man those are some homer ****in posts.......obviously Brodie Croyle who's 0-6 and shown a lot of nothing is already better than about 20 of the starting QB's in the league according to some here.

Bearcat 01-13-2008 04:56 PM

Croyle's first year (9 games)
127/224 (57%), 1227, 5.5 avg, 6 TDs, 6 INTs... 69.9 rating

Eli's first year (9 games)
96/192 (48%), 1043, 5.3 avg, 6 TDs, 9 INTs... 55.4 rating

Again, let me remind you. Troy ****ing Aikman went 0-11 in his first 11 starts.

You really can't tell how good a QB can be with just six ****ing games. How about giving him the ****ing benefit of the doubt, and give him a chance? Jesus Christ couldn't even throw the football, becuase the linemen isn't giving him four seconds to throw the goddamned football.

Come on.

Hate to point this out to you, but Manning is older, and cost them two first round picks and a third rounder.

Croyle cost one third rounder.

Yeah, I'd rather have Croyle. He cost a hell of a lot less, both monetarily and in draft picks. It's not just about comparing the two physically.

Do you think that the Pats would choose a 29 year old CB who is just a tick better than a 24 year old, when the 29 year old will also command a much larger salary?

Not 'already better', but saying "let me know when Brodie wins a playoff game" is just as dumb as saying Croyle is without a doubt better than Eli.

I think the point is that Croyle's potential of throwing ~20 TDs and ~20 INTs with about 3,000 yard passing and a rating of 75 is pretty good. That's what Eli's done each of his first 4 years.

What's wrong with that statement?

Mecca 01-13-2008 05:01 PM

I'm not even remotely looking at what they gave up for him...but hey you can hope he'll be good. I don't think he's a "tick" below either, right now that's a gap.

I don't see it with Croyle, I see a guy who's rail thin that can't stay on the field.

FAX 01-13-2008 05:01 PM

Fa-vah-ra's first pass in the NFL was an INT returned for a touchdown.

BWillie 01-13-2008 05:01 PM

I'll be surprised if he stays healthy enough to play enough games to get those stats.

How can that not be part of the assessment? You can't have it both ways.

You can't bitch about what the Chiefs gave up for LJ while you also deride his production and then say that the compensation for Croyle and Manning is immaterial when comparing them.

Megbert 01-13-2008 05:11 PM

why are they passing you need a FG here???
