With #1 vs. #2 tonight - who do you think is the best team in America?

I haven't seen Tennessee in a while, not since they beat Xavier on the road, and I wasn't greatly impressed. I think they'll lose tonight, because they seem to struggle on the road.

If Memphis wins tonight, I think they're the best team in the nation... it obviously doesn't mean they'll win a NC, but they've had a tough non-conference schedule.

After that, I'd say Kansas because they are the only team without a 'bad' loss, UCLA after that, then it gets hard between Duke, UNC, and Texas.

Bracketology has Kansas in the Phoenix regional with... drumroll.... UCLA as the #2 seed. :banghead: If it happens, it would be 3 years in a row UCLA got the #2 seed in the West.

Kansas of course! My second choice would be Memphis.

Actually in the most recent Bracketology - KU is in the Midwest w/Xavier #2 - a much better match-up for KU IMO

Without sounding like a homer, I say KU. Memphis is good, with every reason to toot their own horn, I just think week in week out, KU is better with the overall play making ability, defense and tougher schedule from top to bottom in the long run. Bottom line, KU & Memphis are the two best teams in the country and a case can be made for both of them.

KU! My 2nd choice is Memphis. John Calipari was an assistant coach at KU for a couple of years and lived across the street from me in Lawrence.

UNC and KU are the 2 deepest teams in that list, however UNC has the better coaching.

I'd bet on UNC if it came down to those 2 teams.

KU is the most talented but Self is an idiot that will cost them. Memphis is #2 and Calpari is a way better coach thus they are the best team in the country.

I think Memphis is the best in the country right now, but they even though they had a tough non-conference schedule, there's something to be said for playing in a strong conference with intense rivalries that test you week in and week out.

Buried right under the Nebraska option.

I voted Memphis because they're undefeated, however, I wouldn't vote against the Bruins come tournament time.

It defiantly wasn't Purple Kool-Aid. While after last night I wouldn't vote for KU as the number one team. I wouldn't vote anybody else either. Now that Memphis has lost I just see a big mess at the top of the rankings.

KU is not in the same galaxy as Memphis at this point.

Kansas is going to be a #2 seed. So, they aren't the best team, irregardless what the homers say.

I voted Other because, truthfully, no one has proven they can win consistently through conference play.

Tennessee validated my claim tonight after I predicted they'd win against Memphis but would drop one down the road. No one is as good as they've been "hyped" to be.

As much as I'd love to see KU cutting down the nets in March, I think UCLA is the best team and will win the tournament.

KU just has too many issues... Rush doesn't seem nearly as explosive as he was pre-injury, Collins is a freaking mess and Arthur is a black hole, who'd rather toss up piss-poor shots than pass the ball back out of the post. Not to mention their defensive woes.

KU really lacks a go-to guy. When the offense stagnates and they need to rely on one guy to lead them to the win, KU falters. I would like to see Chalmers take on the go-to guy role, but, he seems reluctant to do so.

Please tell me this was sarcasm. Considering KU has not beat anyone this year. KU's only "quality" wins are Arizona, Oklahoma and USC. Memphis beat them all as well. They also beat Georgetown and Connecticut who are both top 15 teams. SOS's look like this: KU-61st, Memphis-15th.

That's what's funny about it. There conference schedule brings down there SOS. KU's conference schedule helps there SOS. Yet you still aren't even close to playing the same level of competition. Your non-con schedule was easier than there conference schedule so it pretty much evens out there. The only difference is they have beat a team currently ranked in the top 25.

Who has KU played and who has Memphis played? Have you actually looked at the schedule? I see someone already clued you in to the schedule strength ranking.....

How many good teams have you beat on the road? I'm not saying Memphis has had a really tough schedule. I'm just saying don't come on here and act like you've played a tougher schedule at all. Here is a breakdown of your records against RPI rankings:

You have both played the same amount of cakewalk teams. Memphis has a better record against the top 25 however. Both schedules are laughable. Don't sit here as a KU homer and say that any team in the top 25 has a weak schedule because yours is just as weak if not weaker.

Show me one post where anybody is saying that KU is the best in history of everything.

All those rankings are just somebodies opinion. And it is my opinion that KU would have the same record as Memphis does if they got to play Memphis's schedule. Its just my opinion.

shoot, 4 KU homers have voted for them in this poll since they lost to OSU. THAT's optimism.

I prefer the term "Real Fans" instead of Homers. But not even I would vote for them if this poll had been made after the OSU loss.
