chiefs release bell reed dunn law

The Chiefs continued their rebuilding process by telling four more veteran players they would be released, sources said.
One, cornerback Ty Law, was a starter last season. Two, linebacker Kendrell Bell and defensive tackle James Reed, are former starters while the fourth player, tight end Jason Dunn, was once a key reserve. All of the players are over 30 except Bell, who turns 30 in July. The Chiefs have either released or will release six veterans who had 2008 contracts. Offensive tackle John Welbourn and wide receiver Eddie Kennison, both also over 30, were previously released. |
Wow. The youthification of the Chiefs continue. I will miss Dunn.
|
no surprises really, except for reed maybe, looks like we are considering drafting a DT.
|
Good this should have been done last year. Bring on the youth.
|
At least, they are seeing the light-I just hope they can draft some kick ass players.
|
The Bell experiment was a smashing success.
Even the Law deal looks, with the benefit of hindsight, as eh. At best. |

I do like this part of The Plan. One year too late but definitely the right idea. They need to gut this pig completely.
|
I'll miss Dunn, but like everybody else I'm happy to see the long overdue spring cleaning.
|
I like it... although when this is all done, we are really going to suck baows next year
|
Still more to come. This better not be it.

EXCELLENT NEWS!

Cool.

Excellent news. Keep them coming Carl!
|
Can't wait to see who gets the axe thursday!
|
Shouldn't be the end, Rod Edwards is another DT I want to see gone.
|
Carl should cut Herm just before cutting himself. That would be a great offseason.
|
I wonder if they're shopping Wesley? Is there anyone else you can think of who may have some trade value that we are planning to cut??
|
We can't cut all of our veterans, but there are certainly a couple other players who need to get some "gone".
|
Herm is cutting all the guys with one syllable names. I figured it'd be the opposite.

We released Kendrell Bell??? But Gunther said he was a beast and he had to hold him back in practice because he is so intense. ROFL

Herm's first year in free agency proved to be a failure.
|
|
free agency = sucks.
The good ones are way overpriced. |
JD will be missed but I wonder if this means Michael Allen will get a shot to be the second TE.
|
Law blew ass in the regular season but he single handly kept us in that Indy playoff game when our offense was still back in Kansas City.
|
Annybody have a breakdown of the savings against the salary cap?
|
Law can still play, but hes probably better suited as a role player. I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up back in New England again.

Definatly needed to get rid of Law and Bell, wish Dunn wouldn't have been cut, but if we are getting younger, lets do it.

Well it's good to see we are headed in the right direction.

Finally Kendra Bell is gone. It would have been a successful offseason if that was the only move we made this year.

2006 Kansas City (2005-06): Has seen action in 32 games (28 starts), registering 125 tackles (95 solo), 2.5 sacks (-11.0 yards), one forced fumble, one pass defensed and 11 QB pressures … Registered two tackles (one solo) in one postseason game. Why is it that I cant remember a single tackle listed above????:shake: |
I think Law can still play. Our defense requires good safety play and we had two that were inconsistent at best... I think they made our corners look significantly worse than they really are.

Everyone has their pride I guess (except maybe Ryan Leaf). |

These players were stopgaps. Parcells used to call them "hold the fort" guys. You get them so that you can dump Eric Warfields and Ryan Simses, and then you get rid of them when you have younger players to replace them. |
Looks like year 20 of the five year plan is going to kick ass!!!11 ROFL
|
How long till Law and Bell are kicking ass in New England?

|
woo-hoo!!
love cutting old trash.... |
we won't miss any of those guys..all together their "production" wasn't worth one good starter.....good riddance to washed out vets...

Tinkerbell was a Bust from the start-and I was the first on the Planet to say so. |

Dunn and Law aren't easily replaced. Unless the Chiefs have their Free Agency wits about them. I suspect the Chiefs will give Michael Allan a chance to take over for Dunn. Not sure what we're planning to do to replace Law. We have Brackenridge, who should figure into the competition, but that's about where it ends. |
I don't like cutting Dunn. I thought he was a good blocking TE we could have used. He wasn't that old was he?

Now instead of old shitty players we will have young shitty players. Herm and Carl are still here.

Just go ahead and piss on the parade..... |

It signal a change in our philosophy also. Having to depend on the TE's to help with our tackle situation the past couple of seasons sucks. Maybe herm is serious about restocking the line with "grade a meat", and Dunn doesn't fit in their plans no more. |
