Do you ever remember the Chiefs having a worse roster?

In the 80s some might have been close to this bad, but I don't think they matched this one for ineptness and all around poor overall quality.

This is what rebuilding looks like. It gets ugly before it gets better.

5 superstar/potential superstar players..question is when was the last time the chiefs had a hc as incapable as Edwards?

OnTheWarpath15 02-27-2008 07:35 PM

Take your pick:

Anywhere from 1975 to 1988.

Today's players would destroy any of those teams.

Pity party over.

Pretty well said, worst coach in franchise history.

Frank Ganz doesnt count??

ChiefsCountry 02-27-2008 07:41 PM

I can think of a couple worst than Herm.

RealSNR 02-27-2008 07:43 PM

I've been ready for a scrappy young team for a long time now. It's time to sit back and (if all goes well) watch the beginnings of a new great team.

The Chiefs have a couple nice building blocks to work with. This will be a big draft coming up that will tell if we will suck for another 8 years or another 4 years.

I will give you Edwards, perhaps only Frank Ganz could equal his ineptitude.

Really how about 82
Bell
Buruss
Carson
Cherry
Tom Condon
Joe Delaney
Gary Green (marginal but better than any of our current DBs)
Nick Lowery
Jack Rudnay
Kevin Ross
and Art Still

I then picked 85
John Alt
Bell
Buruss
Carson
Cherry
Albert Lewis
Nick Lowery
Bill Mass
Stephone Paige
Kevin Ross
and Art Still

make the 85 roster clearly better

Let's look at Ganz's year 87 still superior
John Alt
Bell
Buruss
Carson
Cherry
Albert Lewis
Nick Lowery
Bill Mass
Henry Marshall
Christian Okoye
Stephone Paige
Kevin Ross
and Art Still

True, cupboard was also pretty bare.

BigChiefFan 02-27-2008 09:11 PM

In the age of salary cap, it's the worst I've ever seen, but with that said, to be fair, we don't have a complete roster right now. Hopefully, it's gets alot better.

Micjones 02-27-2008 09:12 PM

How's about 2001?
That Receiving corps was dreadful.

After pondering on your post for a while, I feel that it could be alot worse than we think it really is. You are correct in the lack of talent currently on board however, I think of the teams brought up in this thread that had just as bad talent to work with. The difference this year and years coming, is the Chiefs actually have some cap room to work with.

I don't care for Herm or CP but, I am glad they admit it is finally time to rebuild instead of signing crap, and then feeding us the usual shit burgers saying we are going to be competitive. I like the direction of using the draft and younger players to build for the future. In two years when they are both gone, we may have something special.

Just a thought...

Bump 02-28-2008 01:01 AM

well in our case we will have to get worse to get better. I'll take a few years of suckage if it means a bright future (also minus Carl). It better pay off damnit!

I just hope the new player are not a roster for of shit sandwiches. We should do well with our first two picks if we don't go to far off the beaten path but I don't trust Carl.
