Mike Anderson Good fit for KC

The guy is about the ONLY Donkey I ever had any respect for. Ex-marine if i remember correctly (good work ethic) Seems to be a good teammate as well. I don't remember him bitching when Portis took his job after he rushed for over 1000 yds. He went to fullback and did his job. Might be good to have him to take over for Larry when he gets hurt plus we fill the fullback hole. A bonus would be if he holds a grudge against the rat

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of veteran running back Mike Anderson on Wednesday, freeing up his $1.8 million salary.

Anderson spent two seasons with the Ravens, gaining 245 yards rushing and scoring one touchdown. He also had 13 catches for 80 yards.

The former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year rushed for 3,822 yards and 36 touchdowns during six seasons with the Denver Broncos. He signed a four-year, $8 million contract with Baltimore in 2006 that included a $2 million signing bonus.

Anderson was under contract through 2009.

I'd take a look at him at FB and occasional RB if he wasn't going to turn 34 next fall.

Yup, not exactly the "youth" we're shooting for.

chagrin 02-28-2008 04:28 AM

good lord, please make it stop

nychief 02-28-2008 06:25 AM

are freakin' kidding me? sheesh. Does he come with a Time Machine? or, better yet, a Talent Machine?

Braincase 02-28-2008 06:35 AM

Does he still keep in touch with Bame Morris & Nate Newton?

BigMeatballDave 02-28-2008 07:05 AM

Yes, please. Lets sign an old guy even though we are cutting old guys...

:spock:

Chief Chief 02-28-2008 07:08 AM

Mike Anderson's a pothead and would be a great fit for the Bungles if only cuz he'd be used to having stripes on his uniform.

Flustrated 02-28-2008 07:29 AM

I never knew anything about him and Maryjane

As far as the age goes I still think we need some positive leadership on offense, and fullback would be a good spot for an oldtimer. Tony can't do it all alone.

Micjones 02-28-2008 09:16 AM

Make it stop!!!

We can't have 25 year old players at every position.
We need older players with leadership skills to help mentor and bring the younger guys along. Not to mention the fact that we need help all over the place. A couple of well place veterans makes sense.

And I'm not even advocating for Anderson. I'm just saying.
This idea that we're going to be a team full of players under 30 is silly.

Exactly, another aging veteran in the twilight of his career.

Spicy McHaggis 02-28-2008 09:22 AM

If we sign Mike Anderson at essentially the same age we cut T-Rich I'm going to be pissed.

I'll bet you that's pretty much what the team will be. Gonzalez and Edwards are going to be about the only old dogs left.

Eleazar 02-28-2008 09:48 AM

We should not sign anyone who's 30, except maybe a kicker.

And a head coach.

Google "Mike Anderson marijuana".

He was suspended 4 games and would be suspended a full season if his piss pops positive again.

The right 30 year old Free Agent would absolutely get a look from me.
Someone who can give you three years of productivity?
A Willie Roaf type signing? Why not? This roster is in terrible shape...

vailpass 02-28-2008 10:52 AM

This would be a great fit for KC if it were the year 2000 and KC was running Denver's zone rushing scheme.
Really, it would.

We didn't sign willie roaf.

And yeah, call me when a hall of fame tackle in his prime hits the free agent market.

Not real interested in Anderson.
Now Sapp? I'd definitely make him an offer.

Sargeant Mike was a class act, I wish him well.
You are spot-on about Cecil; I would be less than happy to see him go to KC.

DMAC 02-28-2008 10:59 AM

Aren't most homeless people ex-marines?

I'll go ahead and say that is terrible work ethic.

If you believe the signs, I guess.

Pardon me. We made a trade for Willie Roaf.

God knows we're in a position to snub players who aren't bound for Canton.
