Who will be the FIRST Free Agent signed by KC?

The FA signing period begins in a little over 5 hours.

Who will be the first FA signed by the Chiefs?

I'm taking Justin Smiley, OG, San Francisco.

I really don't know, but I can't say I'm too worried about it. I have complete and utter confidence in those making decisions for my beloved franchise. I'm quite certain that whomever it is, we can look forward to the next coming of Carlton Gray.

ROFL

Everytime you're watching a game and Seattle needs a 50+ yard FG to win and the kicker drills it, THAT'S Josh Brown.

The guy is money, but would probably turn into a steaming pile of shit as soon as he stepped on the turf at Arrowhead.

We already have a long snapper right? Since that position is filled, and we don't need a punter I don't think we'll be signing anyone until April.

Some teams have an amount of money they aren't going over for a kicker...

Actually alot of teams, I know the Pats do this, allocate a certain amount of money for each position determining which ones they feel are more valuable than others and they will not exceed it.

He plays WILL?

I've always viewed him as a DE.

Josh Brown would be fine, I still think they should get Bryant Johnson, Jacob Bell, and Calvin Pace in here right away. I don't think any of them would break the bank and they'd be great additions.

That's why I like him, he's a LB/DE hybrid, he can do both. He would bring the versatility, he's not as talented as say drafting Gholston but he can bring alot of the same stuff. He also has experience playing LB so he could legit play pure LB at times.

Johnson first. This year or the year after, doesn't matter, we have no one to block for or catch passes from a young QB...

I think Bell is gonna get PAID.

The Johnson and Pace would probably be more our price.

Then again, it's really hard to tell. There's always rampant overspending in FA.

Somehow Arizonas receivers are productive without much of a line...Johnsons only 26 and still has a top of upside he is far from peaked.

I just don't think you pass on guys because you don't have something else.

Fine a guard then, I don't think they're gonna be able to draft 2 starting Guards and a OT so they're gonna have to sign one if they move Waters.

No, I agree with you regarding signing a guard, I just think Bell will be one of the most sought after OL on the market.

That's why I mentioned Justin Smiley. Coming off an injury, probably on the cheap.

In part I agree.

You don't pass on a Johnson in free agency with our needs.

You DO pass on him in the draft with our needs.

People immediately think draft pick = cheaper salary, but that's not true. It's sure as hell not true at 5...

Well that depends......if this was last years draft and the Chiefs had a chance to draft Calvin Johnson..I'd do it in a second.

We just need better players regardless of position.

Well, I don't think we're "letting him go" Hopefully he'll stay, but we franchised trufant so we couldn't franchise brown like we did last year.

We'll offer him at least top 3 kicker money, but holmy wont break the bank on a kicker.. He's not a big fan of kickers, he thinks they're weird..

We do miss Darche though.. Did he stay healthy? When we released him there were huge concerns about his shoulder..

He is the best long snapper I have ever seen..

This year we need O line, CB, DT, or a MLB.

Send Brown our way. Pleaaaaaaaaaaase. Darche did pretty well. Where he excelled was in coverage downfield. I don't think his snaps were as spot on as Gammons were, but he wasn't a liability in coverage.

Haven't you heard? Moving Watters to Center is stoopid. We all want Watt to stay at LG instead of moving his lame ass to Center where he could decimate Nose or Tackles...He's the most experienced lineman on the team but we would all rather have a rookie calling the protection because a few years ago, Watt had some trouble exchanging the ball after being converted from a TE/FB.

There is now way this punk has learned anything in the last 4 years.....

I didn't say the coverage wasn't atrocious, but he was the first one to the returner a few times, and it wasn't always 40 yards upfield. I think he did a nice job.

Hindsight is perfection.

Knowing what we need and the contract he'd signed I'd consider Bowe a steal.

Bowe had 70 rec, 995 yrds, and 5 TD's. Behind a dog$#it O line, with a dog$#it OC, and mostly dog$#it QB's.

Johnson had 48 rec, 756 yrds, 4 TD's. And this with Mike "Bow before Me" Martz and pretty good offense. Johnson also had many more damaging targets to take pressure off of him.

When you consider what Bowe had around him and what he accomplished it's nothing short of amazing.

And he'll be cheaper.

Carl's probably on vacation it never fails that when FA starts he's never around...don't expect the Chiefs to sign much of anyone, that's their MO. They paid LJ a bunch last year and have a top 5 pick which will command a ton of money with Allens tag....

Uh, feel free to be content with bringing guys in for "visits."

As pointed out earlier, all that does is leaves the window open for another team to make them an offer they can't refuse - and never get on a plane to KC.

The Dolphins obviously had Smiley targeted and got him - without bringing him in for a "visit."

There has been exactly ONE free agent signing reported in the entire NFL so far. Must be 31 other teams "asleep at the wheel."
