NCAA bracket question: Drake

I know nothing about them.

Are they capable of beating Connecticut and going to the Sweet 16?

I'm looking for a first round upset, for some reason I want to pick this.

(or will they lose to Western Kentucky?)

(my only other real upset is Baylor over Purdue)

Reerun_KC 03-20-2008 07:59 AM

I have drake upsetting ucoon to go to the sweet 16... But no further....

eazyb81 03-20-2008 08:03 AM

their best player is a guy that averaged 8 points all season, and he was the conference player of the year.

I think they are way overrated.

eww....that's what I was afraid of....

Rooster 03-20-2008 08:07 AM

Love the Drake......

FD 03-20-2008 08:21 AM

Drake's style is to shoot three's from literally everywhere on the court, every player can shoot these even the big man. They could fizzle out or potentially do some damage. I think a lot of people are picking upset here but I like them. I look to Temple instead for my 12 seed upset.

Mr. Arrowhead 03-20-2008 08:25 AM

they can shoot every where on the court, all the players can shoot. The only one that dont shoot is emmaunker and he just drive and dishes it out. To me that kind of style is dangerous in March.

Mr. Arrowhead 03-20-2008 08:30 AM

also they got 5 players that average 10 points or more, and they are led by sophmore Josh Young who average neartly 16 points a game and has taken 182 3 points and shoots 45 % from the 3 point line

He's a MU fan....... Drake is good, yes they can beat UCon. They do shoot alot of 3's, They are vary capable of getting to the sweet 16.

Exactly, so I of all people should know bad basketball when I see it! :)

Hoover 03-20-2008 08:33 AM

I've seen them play. They are a great team and I think they win the first round then get beat once they play a team that can defend the outside well. I don't think this is the 12-5 upset. They are also well coached, Keno Davis is in his first year but have been with the team when his father Dr. Tom Davis was coach.

ROYC75 03-20-2008 08:33 AM

UCon better play some serious D or say good bye ........

actually, their description as a 3 point shooting team makes them a good matchup for Connecticut, negates the shot blocking of Thabeet....I think I'm going to pick them..

I like W. Kentucky over Drake. The Hilltoppers are very underrated.

Yur just just partial to that MU thingy that very few people understand ! :D

Drake can light it up outside, UCon better play some D , if Drake is on from outside...... they can play with many teams in the NCAA.

Ultra Peanut 03-20-2008 08:51 AM

If you're in the Yahoo pick'em, please don't pick Drake over UConn.

kthx

RP_McMurphy 03-20-2008 09:14 AM

Lose by 10-15 to Western Kentucky as Courtney Lee steps up and shows why is a possible NBA player.

Great take. Drake is incredibly beatable, if they aren't shooting well. However, they don't seem to have off-nights, if that's possible. UNI almost beat them at Drake, but Drake still pulled out the win. I think they'll beat some teams that they shouldn't, but they very likely could lose one they shouldn't as well.

In the end, I like their chances.

St. Joe over Oklahoma

Definitely. OU's fading fast, and they were overseeded in the first place.

eazyb81 03-20-2008 10:18 AM

I like Butler beating Tennessee and making it at least to the Sweet Sixteen. I also think they could make a run to the Elite Eight or even Final Four but don't have the balls to put that on my SHEET.....OF INTEGRITY.

Ultra Peanut 03-20-2008 10:20 AM

I like Butler over Tennessee, too. Have UNC-UL in the regional final, though.

I'd love to see Pearl flame out again, he's such a douche.

Phobia 03-20-2008 10:36 AM

Drake is less about their players and more about Dr. Tom Davis' coaching. That dude got more out of moderately talented Iowa teams in the 80's than anybody else could have.

So, don't count Dr. Tom out. He's a true student of the game and will exploit the other team's weaknesses through team play.

Ultra Peanut 03-20-2008 10:39 AM

His son's coaching Drake now, actually.

It's Keno's show now.

Phobia 03-20-2008 10:47 AM

I know virtually nothing about college BB. Pay no attention to me.

Phobia 03-20-2008 10:52 AM

Heh heh. I feel a little silly now. Here I am thinking I know something about Drake and I'm late to the party. How long as Dr. Tom been retired now? I should pick up a newspaper sometime, I guess.

this is his first year retired, although, Keno coached the team most of the year last year too, as Dr. Tom was ill alot of the year.
