Will Marty hear cheers, or boos?

What does the planet think?

Tribal Warfare 08-10-2001 02:12 PM

A mix I believe, because of the turnaround of the organization in the early 90's. Then their will be the hecklers who are bitter that Marty didn't take the Chiefs to the SB.

htismaqe 08-10-2001 02:12 PM

There's a good chance, IMO, that they'll boo...

shakesthecat 08-10-2001 02:13 PM

I don't think the average fan has too many hard feelings toward Marty.
He gave us some pretty good years.
I'm guessing about a 70-30 split for cheers.

Now if they announce his coaches names........

AustinChief 08-10-2001 02:15 PM

shakes...

dead on.. Marty will be cheered (lightly) and the rest of his staff will probably not get mentioned due to the overwhelming chance of full scall rioting!!

Kyle,
I would expect nothing less!:D

Warrior5 08-10-2001 02:35 PM

He'll be cheered (or should be).

5decadechiefsfan 08-10-2001 02:36 PM

I would hope that most fans would at least applaud lightly. We've only had one or two better coaches in 40 years!!

Lzen 08-10-2001 02:38 PM

If I was at the game, I'd cheer Marty. Sure, he never took us to a SB but, you can't forget the fact that he brought this team back from 2 decades of losing seasons to prominence. I still recognize and appreciate what he did for the Chiefs. That being said, I'm glad he's not still here because I don't think he'll ever get very far in the playoffs unless he changes his philosophy.

Dartgod 08-10-2001 02:40 PM

I will be there and will cheer for him. He did give us 10 years of exciting football, why boo him?

TEX 08-10-2001 03:05 PM

If I were there, I'd CHEER for the good times he brought. I'd also CHEER that he's gone! Either way, I'd CHEER for Schotz.;)

lakeman 08-10-2001 03:13 PM

I will CHEER! Marty turned what was becoming a bad time into a party. His teams were competative, and nobody look forwarded to coming in Arrowhead for a ball game.

KCJohnny 08-10-2001 03:39 PM

KC will cheer Marty.
StL will cheer DV.
Washington will cheer Trent Green.
All class acts deserving of accolade.

I agree with everybody but this is the third night in a row that NFL 2Night has focused on Marty and the Redskins. Enough is enough!

PhilFree

Brock 08-10-2001 05:37 PM

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Marty is booed loudly.

tommykat 08-10-2001 06:31 PM

I will be at the game.....why not cheer him? He did get The Chiefs to the playoffs....something Gunn couldn't do. He is good...I died laughing about putting Alarms on the guys doors so they couldn't go out. They must need some real parental control....

keg in kc 08-10-2001 06:54 PM

Doesn't look like I'll be able to go Sunday, so it doesn't really matter, but I will say that were I going, I wouldn't cheer marty beyond maybe some half-hearted golf clapping. . Simply put, the guy has moved on, and when I'm in Arrowhead, anyone not in Chiefs colors is the enemy. No exceptions.

To answer the original question, however, I believe he'll be cheered by the majority of the people there.

I can understand this, though, and I'm hoping this will be the one and only time where we'll here someone not playing for the Chiefs loudly cheered on our home turf 2001, and furthermore, hopefully we won't hear anyone on our squad booed by their home fans this year...

htismaqe 08-10-2001 08:28 PM

Like Brock said, and I said before, it wouldn't surprise me if he was booed...

I wouldn't do it...

KCJohnny 08-11-2001 07:45 AM

The only way Marty will be booed is if the Skins run up the score, say, 35-0.
Won't happen.

chieffanphil 08-11-2001 07:57 AM

i would cheer him for the 10 years of great football he brought us . Go Chiefs

milkman 08-11-2001 09:01 AM

Marty will be cheered in his return to Arrowhead Sunday.

There are just to many, like Proctor, that think that Marty is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

chief52 08-11-2001 09:32 AM

The guy deseves to be cheered for all he did for the organization. He gave it is all and won a lot of football games.
