A Group of Georgia Third Graders Plot To Attack Teacher

WAYCROSS, GA -- It's the type of news you don't expect to hear coming out of an elementary school. Nine third grade students suspended at Center Elementary in Waycross for an alleged plot to attack their teacher.

"This plot was uncovered at the point that something dangerous was brought to the school," says Lt. Dwayne Caswell with Waycross Police.

Police say the students were hatching a plan to harm their teacher Friday morning. They even brought items from home to carry out the plan.

"They had a broken steak knife, a crystal paper weight, toy handcuffs, several items and tape and stuff," says Lt. Caswell.

Ware County School officials say a classmate told the principal about one of the students bringing a weapon to school. The discovery was later made that more students were in on the plot. The school says it’s a matter they are not taking lightly.

"Some might say 'They were young and in the third grade and how serious could it be?', but anytime our students' safety or our teachers' safety is compromised we obviously have to take that very seriously," says Theresa Martin with Ware County Schools.

The school district says all the students are suspended until further disciplinary action is decided.

"We continue to do what we always do which is work to make our students aware that this is not appropriate and we ask our parents to help us. The whole saying that it takes a village to raise a child is very appropriate at this time," says Martin.

Police say no criminal charges will be brought forth against the students. The District Attorney is handling the case and students will most likely face juvenile charges of Unruly Child.

I've plotted about a teacher with other students when I was in school. This accumulated into a TP and egging party at the teacher's house on Halloween, I guess not as severe.

According to the website test, I can take 30+ 5 year olds in a street fight. I'm thinking that would translate to about 25 3rd graders.

In 4th grade we couldn't hang out by the tree in big groups anymore because they thought we were "conforming a gang" but we were really playing WWF and at the time it was the corperation vs the union or somethin... (jocks vs hicks).... they ended that too.

This story should be coming out of Southpark CO, not Waycross, GA.

I have a 3rd grader. I cannot imagine 9-yr old plotting to attack a teacher.

Part of me thinks this is a bunch of kids using their imagination and some dipshit has blown it out of proportion. On the other hand, I'm not familiar with the social state of Waycross, GA elementary. It could be a bunch of stupid kids, with stupid parents.

I also have a 3rd grader and this just seems totally idiotic. It was probably a game of some sort that is being blown waaay out of proportion. (unless I'm wrong and the third grade assassin squad is back)

I remember the 3rd grade, I was a bad kid. They moved my chair to the back corner to isolate me.

I remember 3rd grade, we had a terrible b!tch for a teacher. She kept calling my parents to bitch them out because I wasn't making perfect e's and f's in cursive.

the way America's going... had this attack been carried out... teach probably would have become aroused and had sex with all of them.

Rumor has it that it wasn't a regular 3rd grade class, but a special needs class. You know, one of those classes that was on the complete opposite side of your grade school to keep all the firestarters and animal torturers away from the normal kids.
