Brady Quinn on ESPN2 now

I'd love to see the Chiefs make a trade for this guy.

Talking about falling in the draft and his prospects with the Browns.

Sure-Oz 04-25-2008 09:07 AM

I assume he'd be traded during draft day, they don't need 2 expensive Qb's

The Franchise 04-25-2008 09:08 AM

I don't think the Browns are going to trade him. I'd love to give up a 2nd round pick for him...but I don't see it happening.

Why wouldn't they after that deal for Anderson? That'd be stupid imo

stlchiefs 04-25-2008 09:11 AM

I'd love to get him for a 2nd round pick. He's a much better option with our 2nd round pick than anyone this year and he's had a year to start acclimating to the NFL.

IIRC, only 11 QBs started all 16 games last season. The Browns think they can make a playoff run this season and having 2 QBs will only help that effort. If they want to they can trade him after next season when they'll have an even better idea on how good Derek Anderson is or isn't.

stlchiefs 04-25-2008 09:13 AM

For whatever it's worth, ESPN2 Mock just had the Chiefs taking Chris Long.

Because they want to keep Quinn around incase Anderson starts to suck this year.

Frosty 04-25-2008 09:55 AM

Supposedly, Quinn's contract is largely performance based and is pretty affordable while he sits on the bench. He is pretty cheap insurance in case Squeaky D gets hurt.

Mile High Mania 04-25-2008 10:00 AM

I would expect them to ride out the season with both of these guys ... the jury is still out on Anderson. Was he a one-year wonder? Dunno. Can he go from week 1 depth fodder to savior? Possibly, but it won't hurt them this year to keep Quinn.

Plus, if Anderson does well and gets hurt and then Quinn gets time and does well... they have tremendous trade bait next year. If Anderson does well without injury, they still have a great trade opportunity.

However, there's really no reason to trade Quinn now... they've searched a long time for their guy at QB... who knows, they may have 2 and for 1 year.. they can stomach the $.

GoHuge 04-25-2008 11:05 AM

He's not going anywhere this year. Maybe next if Anderson pans out. They'll be kicking their ass if Anderson ends up sucking or gets hurt.

If the Chiefs land Long or Dorsey at 5, we'll have a successful draft.

Thats a given. Actually, I think Quinn can beat Anderson out in TC. Anderson sucks. Well, OK, he doesn't suck, but he's waaay overrated...

Anderson's deal is only 3 years.

The Browns Owner, GM and Coach have already stated that there is no competition and that Anderson is the clear cut starter next year.

Could be smoke....but you never know.

Are you and Quinn like reeeeeeally good friends or something? Lots of DA hate coming from you.

(I'm guessing an Irish fan bitter that "his" boy doesn't get his chance?)

I loathe Notre Dame. I don't hate Anderson, he's just not that good.
