Would you trade a 4th for Jason Taylor?

Just as a stopgap until one of our vaunted 3rd-round picks becomes the superstar that replaces Jared Allen.

Uh no he's old and our team sucks..Miami seems to think they are going to get a 1st which is hilarious.

the Talking Can 04-25-2008 06:55 PM

spend draft picks and money on a 30+ vet for a team that will only win 3 games next year?

no thanks...

Adept Havelock 04-25-2008 06:56 PM

Nope. Not worth the dollars, pick, or cost of playing time to a younger player, IMO.

Didn't they turn down a second from New Orleans?

Who the hell would offer a 2nd for Jason Taylor?

Mojo Rising 04-25-2008 07:08 PM

Cheap? $8m a year plus a 1st round pick?

SNAFU 04-25-2008 07:10 PM

Heck, yeah. If it didn't work out, he could still dance at Carl's birthday party.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-25-2008 07:14 PM

You really, really wanna go 8-8, don't you?

LiL stumppy 04-25-2008 07:27 PM

I would trade a 4th in a heartbeat. Nothing before that though.

blueballs 04-25-2008 07:39 PM

If you get miffed at LJ speaking his mind
you'll want to hit Taylor in the head with a bowling ball

wazu 04-25-2008 07:51 PM

No way. I am not interested in stop gaps, I'd rather have a shot at the #1 pick in 2009. The only reason I am pissed we traded Allen is that he is young enough to still be a complete stud in 2010.

markk 04-25-2008 08:10 PM

no way. money and resources to the future not the past and present

I'd do it. Everybody doesn't have to be 23 years old.

stlchiefs 04-25-2008 08:17 PM

A 4th round pick? As long as the salary was reasonable, hell yeah. The Chiefs have plenty of room under the cap and a veteran Pro Bowler on the D-line would be a good influence, not to mention Taylor's production. People need to realize we're not trying to field a high school team here, the Chiefs aren't going to start 50 rookies like some are begging for.

Deberg_1990 04-25-2008 08:20 PM

Maybe is give up a 4th if he was going to join my dance team. Dude can really move on Dancing with the Stars!!

cdcox 04-25-2008 08:43 PM

Nyet. Does not help us win a Super Bowl.

QFT

Molitoth 04-25-2008 09:14 PM

Yes, but only depending on how much money he wants. I'm sure it would be too much, so most likely NO. lol.

the Talking Can 04-25-2008 09:17 PM

a 4th isn't a throw away pick...

why go to the trouble of rebuilding and getting all these picks only to give them away for aging vets?

that's what got us in trouble in the first place...****...pay attention people

That's why I would do it. I don't think it's a good thing for young player to live through a 3-13 season and have to learn the tricks of the trade by themselves. Put a savvy veteran on the line to teach them, and get a guy who would help the team be competitive.

As skip said, rebuilding doesn't mean that everyone has to be a rookie.

Yes, one of the top three players in NFL history was able to start as a rookie, so therefore the same must be true of our upcoming mid-round picks.

living through a 4-12 season is vastly different?

I'd rather not have that happen, either.

Rausch 04-25-2008 10:40 PM

Having a great player to learn from is a huge advantage for a rook. And a 4th?

Pfffffft...We can sure as hell afford to lose it. It could also allow us to take the DT we need and avoid the panic move of replacing Allen day 1.

Taylor, Hali, Dorsey/Ellis?

WOW...

suds79 04-25-2008 10:56 PM

Would I trade a 4th rounder for 33 yr old Jason Taylor?

Will he make us a playoff team? No.
Could his production dramatically slip? Yes.
Would he provide anything on the field much past year from now? No.

No thanks. We'll let somebody else make that mistake.

you named 1 amazing QB and somehow you expect that example to extrapolates to a minimum of 13 rookies the Chiefs are going to have on their roster this season? Come on, just because you can find 1 player who was drafted #1 overall and could overcome such odds/adversity doesn't mean that an entire team of rookies (exaggeration) can do the same thing.
