G3 Imac? What would YOU do with it?
 

I have a G3 Imac 400mhz with 256MB Ram here,

It just sits on my desk collecting dust, I could put it in the corner to collect dust.

Anyone else have any great ideas that do not involve antifreeze, or breaking it?

I had two. Now each of my older kids has one in his/her bedroom. They're good enough for most homework assignments. No internet connections, though. No way.

You could look for a small, struggling school.

I have the imac DV, so that mean it comes with fireware..

I keep mine around for my youngest to play around with.

Any CRT iMac can be a friendly home to fish, but if you have a working iMacDV (or later) that has FireWire, it's not obsolete. It can even run OS X 10.3 at a respectable clip.

I went as far as 10.1. For the kids, I downgraded it to 9.3 though.

its got 10.4.11 on there now.

it works okay.. the latest upgrade took FOREVER to install on it, but it works good now, I need to put a 1gb stick in there, that would really get it kickin

And thanks, my 13yo is going to crap himself. He's bought in to the Apple/PC ads big time.

Could run an FTP server from it. Hook up a 500GB External Hard Drive via Firewire.
