McGuire: USC's Moala "most overrated player in the country."
I'm liable to agree. I haven't seen much from this guy that's impressive, and I've seen quite a bit as I was watching a lot of Sedrick Ellis and Lawrence Jackson.
http://www.walterfootball.com/pro2009fmoala.php 2009 NFL Draft Prospects: Fili Moala Profile # Fili Moala, 6-4/295 # Defensive Tackle # USC Fili Moala's Scouting Report By Matt McGuire Strengths: Nice height and solid build with room to gain bulk ... Long arms ... Holds up well against the run ... Strong football player and can disengage ... Decent pass rusher ... Has solid instincts and does a decent job of recognizing play action. Weaknesses: Athleticism isn't there ... Stiff in the hips and doesn't have much balance or flexibility ... Motor is very inconsistent ... Size is good, but as of now it isn't anything to rave about (must gain more strength) ... Lacks explosion when the ball is snapped ... Production is simply average, especially considering he was on the same line of Lawrence Jackson and Sedrick Ellis ... Unimpressive overall skill set. Summary: The most overrated player in the country. I can't believe he is in the top five of so many mock drafts right now (including No. 1 on Todd McFraud's) ... The hype is going on because of whom he plays for; not his individual skill ... Production isn't impressive when you consider the talent around him ... Needs to step up. Player Comparison: Igor Olshansky. Can't play three-technique, but can be an adequate nose tackle in the 4-3; best fit is at five-technique in the 3-4 where he can plug the run going against offense tackles using his size to his advantage. |
Don't tell Milkman.

I want MLB Rey Maualuga. |
He's pretty good, but there is no way he should be going anywhere near the no. 1 pick.
|
He's basically been waiting his turn, that top 5 stuff is all on projection that he'll step in and be what Ellis was.
Cmon Michael Johnson has a top 3 projection and he hasn't even been a full time starter to this point. |

Dammit! |

This be a mantra on here, KC will probably see Duke Robinson and Herman Johnson in the "cluster" of BPAs too IMO. If KC picks in the 10-15 range. |

If the Chiefs were draft a guard in the top 10, where we all expect them to be drafting, I would throw my remote at your TV. |

If one can find an all-pro caliber Guard in the 15-20 spot you take him especially if he's the BPA. |

I'm pretty sure I said top 10. |

Top 10 , if they are coupled in that group yeah I'd take an OG. Get a perennial all-pro on the line, I'd take that |

Boy if you took a guard first with as high as the Chiefs will be picking that would be a nightmare.

If the kid is a sure fire perennial all-pro he'll have to an option |

Ther's only potential, and great guards, perennial all pros have been found all over the draft. |

If that guy's potential is of John Hannah/ Will Shields/ Larry Allen ect.. then yeah you take said player. If a team knew they'd get a badass like Will Shields he will be a top 10 pick. Yeah Will was 3rd rounder, but if it was truly evident then he'd be a future HOfer he'd be a 1st rounder. With saying that ,Duke Robinson is being compared to Shields now . It must be a belief that the OG is a easy position to fill, but guess what if one looks at last year it's exactly the opposite. So if a team can fill a void with a stud on the O-line in the 1st you do it. |

http://www.databasefootball.com/draf...yr=1993&lg=nfl So if you have a chance to draft a potentially all-world player you don't want to do it? Let's look at the top 10 1993 draft. 1 (1) NWE Drew Bledsoe QB Washington State 2 (2) SEA Rick Mirer QB Notre Dame 3 (3) PHO Garrison Hearst RB Georgia 4 (4) NYJ Marvin Jones LB Florida State 5 (5) CIN John Copeland DE Alabama 6 (6) TAM Eric Curry DE Alabama 7 (7) CHI Curtis Conway WR USC 8 (8) NOR Willie Roaf T Louisiana Tech 9 (9) ATL Lincoln Kennedy T Washington 10 (10) LAM Jerome Bettis RB Notre Dame knowing what we know now Will would definitely be a top 10 pick, but since he's a OG he must be a foot shuffling porter. If a player is being compared to the best of all-time on Offense or Defense that player is definitely worthy top 10 consideration. Thus, my advocation for Duke Robinson |
