I collected Beer cans (empty only) as a teenager. I had about 500 different ones when I finally sold the collection on e-bay.

Now, I collect DT cards. Currently have a little over 500 different ones. Really focusing on getting the autographed and Jersey cards of his now.

DT's cards in the past few months have really skyrocketed for some reason.

I have the entire collection listed on Beckett.com and they update the pricing for it every Monday. Currently for the 500+ it's max value is $1,800.

Amnorix 05-30-2008 10:40 AM

Used to be heavy into baseball cards, mostly older ones. Had some late 1800 Old Judge, some T-206s, Goudey, and an assortment of cards from the 50s and 60s.

Since I collected as a teenager, however, it's become a super-scientific endeavor, with "grades" being issued by official companies for how close your card is to absolutely perfect, etc. ad infinitum. I cashed it all out via Ebay a couple of years ago now.

My grandpa loved Emmet Kelly clowns, he had nearly 100 of them or so IIRC, before he passed away. I have a couple of them from him, a little keep sake.

I have a pretty big collection of Evel Knievel stuff: Action figures and toys, jump posters and ticket stubs, I even have a Bally EK pinball machine. Unfortunately most of it is out in the garage in boxes. I have a display case in the living room that I rotate stuff in about every 6 months.

When I first discovered eBay about 12 years ago (yeah, it's been around that long!) I collected electronic handheld games (I had about 80) BURGIE! beer stuff, motion beer signs and old flashlights.

I sold off all the handhelds and the Burgie! stuff but still have the flashlights.

I don't really collect anything, but I have an accumulation of antique marbles and stamps (they were my Grandpa's), and Hot Wheels (mine from when I was a kid and when I see a motorcycle or something semi-rare I buy it).

I used to collect camping, backpacking, and outdoor gear. Upon looking at my collection of Gore-Tex jackets and thinking of the dollars on display, I've reined myself in. Currently I have a pretty good collection of sippy cups.

I do collect books for my classroom library. I have close to 500 titles currently, and I should be up to around 2,500 by this time next year after I purchase a bunch more with grant money.

I got rid of my comic book collection at a garage sale a few years back because I hadn't kept them in good condition. One of my colleagues, who also uses classroom libraries though his kids are struggling, alliterate readers, recently had a bunch of comic books donated to him for his library. As I was going through the titles, I realized that it was my collection.

Dartgod 05-30-2008 02:25 PM

I forgot. I've collected all of the Royals Hall of Fame bobbleheads from the last two years.

Cookie Rojas, Steve Busby, Dennis Leonard, Fred Patek, Dick Howser, Frank White, George Brett and Paul Splittorff.

I'm going out Saturday to get my John Mayberry and watch the Royals extend their losing streak to 13 games!

I collect BMW automobiles. Right now my collection stands at one.

I also collect world globes from different eras, but I'm not real serious about it. I just buy them if I find them, but I don't look for them.

I'd really like to collect autographs from historical figures, such as presidents or generals or inventors or something. Not sports figures, since I think that's a horribly inflated and overrun market. The autographs of the type I like are so darn expensive, though, that I may never do it.

ya for some reason I do the same kind of. I have about a dozen bottles of hot sauce because I like to try each type. So far my favorite is this cajun blend of hot sauce that I have.

DeepPurple 05-30-2008 03:24 PM

It used to be record albums. I started buying 45's in the mid 60's and bought my first full length album Grand Funk Railroad "On Time" in 1969. I stopped buying records in the early 90's and I ended up with about 4,000 albums of which I still have most of them.

For the last five years I've been collecting professional concert DVD's, I have about 160 right now.

Heck, the ashtrays could be a very valuable collection some day when you think about it. I am going to start buying them up, great idea! :D

I got a shitload of baseball caps, too. Probably 50. Hell, at least 50. I threw some out a couple of years ago and still have bunch. Mostly Chiefs hats, but also Cardinals, Mizzou, Royals, a couple from my ship, and some other miscellaneous ones.

In keeping with my standard organizational practices, they are all cluttered in the bottom of my closet, along with piles of shoes and ties that have fallen off the hanger rod. :D

I have a vast collection of ex-girlfriends. My wife won't let me put their pictures up on the walls. She's selfish that way. Same with my trophies for darts and softball. She has no appreciation of my past. One of these days I'm gonna get a trophy case.

You'd think she'd be proud.
