Prayers and thoughts greatly appreciated...
 

Over the past few years I have been the son responsible for taking care of my Mother in her senior years. At times I have posted in here times of struggle in taking care of her, and I thank you my friends for your kind words of comfort.

The last 3 weeks have been the most difficult for me as I have come to realize that based on the reports I have gotten from the Nursing Center that I placed my Mother in she is seeing her last days. Just a little over a week ago I was contacted by them and was recommended to seek Hospice Care to help comfort and give loving care to my Mom so that in her final days she could be as comfortable as possible.

Today I was contacted by the Hospice Nurse who is the caretaker for my Mom. She has advised me that my Mom has quit eating and is only taking the liquid Morphine medication that eases her pain. She is still communicative with the Nurse, but advises she is not hungry and sleeps quite alot. She also advised that in her best guess that my Mom has a little less than a week to live. As such I will be leaving soon to spend her last days beside her.

My mom has struggled mightily in her life with many physical and mental afflictions, and the only peace I feel is that her struggles will soon be over and she will be free from the pain that kept hidden the beautifully artistic person I remember from my youth.

I ask that you send thoughts and prayers of comfort to her....

mmaddog I saw this and my heart goes out to you, so I am posting. The morphine is likely causing the sleep but I sincerely wish your mother, you and your entire family my sincerest hopes for peace.

I am very sorry for you mark, and my prayers go to you and your mother, I so hope her last days are painless and peaceful.

I am sorry. I understand all to well, as you might remember. God does give a peace at the time, then you have to hang tight to family and friends when all is over. I am so sorry.
