Sources: Brady done with severe knee injury
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with what two sources described as a severe injury to his left knee, suffered in the first quarter of the Pats’ 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium Sunday. While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, a source close to the quarterback indicated it involved serious damage to the knee. That could include a torn anterior cruciate ligament and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage. “It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.” Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wideout Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball. Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, presumably to undergo tests. Fourth-year quarterback Matt Cassel, who had thrown just 39 passes in his career before Sunday, replaced Brady and completed 13 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. Cassel, who backed up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at USC, hasn’t been a starting quarterback since high school. He won a competition with Matt Gutierrez during the preseason to retain the job as Brady’s primary backup. How will I ever sleep at night? |
Stay down, bitch.

I feel bad for Pollard and Brady.

I don't wish injury on the guy, that totally sucks. But on the other hand, the Pats always seem to make something out of nothing. Watch Cassel step up and surprise just like Brady did when Bledsoe went down. So I guess I don't feel like "Oh no, whatever will they do..." That's football.

Its about time you go back on ignore.... |
Huard would have performed reconstructive knee surgery on himself, and been good to go after halftime.

How stupid is this? |

I don't feel sorry for anyone. Pollard didn't mean to take him out for the season, it's football. I guess I felt sorry for LJ last year, but he's back. it's life.

I hate all Boston sports, so I'll be happy to see New England suck this year. It wasn't that long ago that they were a bad team.

fuck Brady and the Cheatriots. If there's any mystical force at work here, it's karma. |
I don't wish anyone injury, but I have a feeling there are a heck of a lot of folks in Pittsburgh, Indy, New York and Buffalo that are silently hi-fiving each other right now.
|
Since I became a Chiefs fan we haven't won a playoff game.
Coincidence? |

I was pretty sure it would be season ending even though he walked off the field. Sucks to be sure. Hopefully it is not career ending.
|
Seriously can Brady even do doggystyle with that injury? Will he need a brace? I hear Gisele is kinky.
|
Good. He's a poor sport and we could all use a year without His bundle of sticks face plastered all over TV every Sunday.
|
It's like the saying goes. If you can't beat 'em, severely injure their star quarterback's knee.

My 1st round pick, im ****ed for my fantasy season
Atleast ****ing BEAT them you bitches if you are going to make me lose the season! |

Pretty much, the Pats might be able to sneak in with 9 wins without Brady with their schedule then you'll really see them plastered on TV.

Looks like Mangini will make that weekly BJ visit to Pollard the rest of the season.
|
Downside of it all is that we will not get to see the Old Bull(Brett) go against the Young Bull(Brady).

I think Peter King is about to cry... :deevee:

How would anyone know if he's not to have an MRI until tommorrow and BB says he doesn't know anything. This is speculation. I'll wait until it's official.

What did you think of him in his limited role at USC as a back up? |

He did enough to beat the Chiefs today...most weeks he'll need to do more than he did today. |

Shit happens. Tough for the Pats fans. We've been there. You have three rings. We've got nothin'. Watch a single tear roll down my cheek.

I don't much care that Shawne Merriman is a dumbass for not having surgery and couldn't finish his game, either. |

I want to ask a question.
How did everyone feel when Priest went down after Shawn Merriman sp? hit him. Personally I felt sick. I feel no ill will to the Patriots. I like Tom Brady, He works his ass of to be good. Yes he is plastered everywhere because he is that good. Do people line up to kiss his butt. Yes the world is full of sycophants especially in the media. I hate to see any player get hurt (except Anthony Moreno in the 11th grade but that F***tard had it coming) I find it appalling that any of you would cheer another player pain. Ang |

The Pats will still win 10-12 games...that system is bigger than any player, even Tom Brady.
Peyton Manning >>> Tom Brady Tony Romo = Tom Brady Put Manning on the Pats and they'd have won at least 5 or 6 Super Bowls...maybe in a row. |
Cassel wasn't that bad. They could still win 8 or 10 games. Would not surprise me with the easiest schedule in the league

Cassel sucked in pre season, and the Chiefs seem to have a knack to make anybody and everybody either look great or set new records week in and week out.
|
Adam Schefter and a local Boston television station are also reporting this, FWIW.
