I'm glad I don't have a job. I would hate having to stay someplace for a set number of hours.

L.A. Chieffan 09-18-2008 09:46 PM

badgirl you want to go down to that new Salvadorian place uptown and try the foie gras? I hear good things from the New Yorker

Little over 5 minutes to go here.

I actually started on my Kofax Ascent Capture 7.5 certification training tonight. Got through module 1 of 23. Besides the two Excel courses I took a few years ago, this will be the first computer software certification I will have. Woohoo!!!!

No, I do satellite installs and service for DTN. $250 for an install. I've done them in an hour. Usually an hour and a half. But no set hours. I leave when I'm done. I also get paid for driving.

Oh ok I thought the company you worked for required you to work till a certain time. Man that would be cool to work a short period of time, make your days pay and go home in a couple of hours. I am surely a slave to the system.:shake:

Yeah, I never work a whole day. I did get trapped by flood waters the other day and had to get a motel but the company paid for it.

Yeah, I know, they stopped putting girls on them sometime back in the 90s in order to be politically correct.

That's cool. We(AT&T) have to do a lot of the storm damage here, but we aren't getting sent to Texas to help them clean up.

It will be once I learn more. I've worked for the company for almost 10 years, only more on the production side of things. Now, I'm responsible for indexing records that we have a few hospitals scanning onsite. The images get sent here to get indexed before going into the data warehouse (where coders and facilities logon to get their records).

They went to New Orleans about 2 weeks after the water went down and done costruction down there, my son said they had to sign a paper stating that if they got shot on the job they would not hold the cable company responsible . They slept in a tent and red cross brought water and stuff to them. My son said the smell was really bad down there from morning to night he said you went to sleep with the smell of death in you nose, he said it was like you could almost taste it. I was kind of frightened for him while he was down there, I am glad they are not going back to new orleans.

so your like putting in old hospital records? So if a Dr. needs to look at a old CT scan or something they just look it up on the computer? Something like that?

That's part of it, yes. Or they can contact their Medical Records department, and they can login and get the information needed. Paperless is coming, and it will be here before we know it.

I worked through a temp service while I was in Mo. putting in medical records for a while. Right now here in the hospital we do all our charting on the computer and any tests run blood test to xrays and MRI's the results are sent via computer. Its about all paperless now.

So honest question here...Shouldn't you be watching your patients and shit instead of sitting on Chiefs Planet? I'm sure there's something you could be doing...

Nope everyone is asleep, would you rather me go wake them up and say are you ok? I have to wake them up every 4 hours for vitals isn't that enough? damn its 1:30am they are only human, they do sleep at night.

I do go look in on them every 2 hours unless they ring out that is all I can do till about 3:30am when I make my last round of the day, then it gets pretty busy again.

It was just a question...If you can get away with it, more power to you. But I know from every work experience I've had as both a worker and a supervisor that there was never a time when there was absolutely nothing better for me to be doing than getting on ChiefsPlanet.

Well there is nothing I can do, my job is patient care and I cannot wake them up. One nurse is on the phone and one is on a smoke break and the other is sitting in the nurse lounge. I choose to be here to pass time. I only have 8 patients and the other girl has 9 and we cannot take admits cause we are 1 short on a nurse, its boring this time of the morning. From about 12am to 3:30 am its kind of slow unless we have a unexpected event which does occassionally happen.
