My Mom...one of God's Children finally at rest
 

As most of you know a few weeks back I went to be with my Mom who was under Hospice care. I spent that week arranging for her care in her last days, making all the necessary arrangements for her funeral and finalizing her personal matters.

The last few weeks have been painful to handle, as my Mom slowly deteriorated to a point where she could no longer see nor speak, and only responded to touch. Having to idly sit by and watch as a loved one slowly slips away is something I would not wish on any person.

Early this morning my Mother quietly took her last breath and went home to be with her Lord. While the pain I feel inside at this moment is great, my solace is that she is no longer trapped inside a body that limited her wondrous artistic talent. She is now free to draw and paint all that she surveys in her new place of rest.

May your soul be at peace Mom....I love you and I miss you.

My mom passed 12 years ago, and I still think of her every day.

There is no one else in your life like your mother. It is a love and a bond that transcends these mortal trappings. Count yourself lucky for every year you had her in your life, and know that her love goes on forever, even if her her presence does not.

Usually I will say my own thing, but this was very well said. My prayers and condolences go out to you and your family Mark.

I admire your strength because it tore parts of our family apart, when my mom and her sisters had to watch and care for both her parents in the last stages. It is really tough on a family.

Sorry for your loss Maddog, My mom is the most important person to me in the world and I can't imagine what life would be without her.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother had terminal cancer but passed from a stroke. It is horrible the feeling of loss, but with everything that was wrong with her at the end, her going was a blessing for her. She is at peace and without pain.

I am very sorry for your loss mmaddog. My prayers are with you and your family.

On a side note my ex-mother in law passed away this morning at the young age of 55. She was a heavy smoker and drinker and didn't realize until about 3 weeks ago that she had 3 tumors, 2 in her brain and 1 huge one in her lungs.

We always didn't get along but I am sad today because my daughter lost her favorite grand ma.

I've seen him several times, but he must be preoccupied with some fun heaven stuff. He's the heavy set guy with the cheezy mustache and is likely wearing a hunters orange vest. Also, and more importantly, please visit your son in his dreams as soon as possible. He's hurting right now, and needs your assurance that you're in a wonderful blissful place. mmaddog, you'll see her in your dreams, and you'll love it. I'm sorry for your pain, but your Mom will see you soon.

Mark, I arranged for the funeral of my mother when I was only 17, knowing how painful that experience was, I have the deepest sympathy for your last month.

To all my gracious friends here on CP....thank you for all your heartfelt thoughts and prayers to my family. I just arrived back in KY from NC after the private graveside services. Mom was buried in a beautiful spot in the mountains of NC near her mom and sister. My heart is still heavy, but she went to a better place.

A big Thank You goes out to Hospice of Catawba County....I had only slightly heard of Hospice before this, and all I can say now is I am thankful they were there. I highly recommend anyone facing a loved one's impending passing to look into Hospice Care.

Once again....thank you my friends for all your support.
