****OFFICIAL KU vs. COLORADO GAME THREAD****

Is anyone watching this game other than me?

Bearcat 10-11-2008 10:23 AM

It's on the Slingbox (unless my internet connection goes to hell, and then I'll have to flip back and forth during OU/Texas breaks).

I have a bad feeling about it... :(

DaKCMan AP 10-11-2008 10:51 AM

Reesing barely avoided a safety. WTF was he thinking?

DaKCMan AP 10-11-2008 10:51 AM

Colorado gets the ball inside KU's 30.

KU with their usual shitty start.

RealSNR 10-11-2008 11:01 AM

I don't get anything but OU and Texas

You don't get ESPN2? Get a dish.

Bearcat 10-11-2008 11:12 AM

National Champions, yeah! PBJ

:D

KU with a 2 run homer, up 9-7

ArrowheadHawk 10-11-2008 11:28 AM

Wow I wasn't expecting a safety there but it will work.

That was almost a perfect punt.

This thread is pretty dead with the best two teams in the big 12 playing each other at the same time.

Yeah, if my internet connection didn't suck so much, I'd be watching both... and OU/Texas is living up to the hype so far.

Mecca 10-11-2008 11:40 AM

This little RB is kicking KU around right now.

Pitt Gorilla 10-11-2008 11:41 AM

Nice piece there on Rivera's dad fighting his battles for him.

Flipped it over to see the exciting punt! Seriously though, 77 yards...

77 yard punt for KU.

TD Kansas. Up 23-14

alnorth 10-11-2008 12:58 PM

That was a nice little hurry-up offensive drive

37 yd punt return by Fields.

TD Kansas 30-14

alnorth 10-11-2008 01:13 PM

LOL, almost lost that punt. Sometimes you've just got to call the fair catch, I knew he was going to get drilled if he didnt call it.

I would hardly call a team that is coming off an Orange Bowl winning season, ranked #16, and about to go 5-1 a shitty team. Yes, they are not an elite team like OU, USC, LSU, or Floriday. That does not mean they are shitty. If you think that then you are just plain reeruned.

BTW, what's up with your team and their choking right now? I thought they usually waited to choke until they are in a bowl game.

My how expectations have changed. Yes, this team is not as good as last year in areas like defense (mostly the pass rush and the young CBs) and special teams. Their passing game is much improved and the running game looks to be back on track. If you can find it somewhere, I would suggest you go back and look at the KU/CU game last year. CU is a very physical team. Last year, we only scored 19 points against them and had to hold off a late drive to get the win.

I remember the game, it was at CU though.

And when I say that, I am mainly talking about the OL and DL. I still think the expectations are too high for this team. Given their lineplay, I don't think they will be nearly competitive as they were last year. Couple the tougher schedule. Damn.

That being said, though, I think Reesing has come a long quite a bit. He can't sit back there and pick teams apart. If he can get a line in front of him next year, he could potentially be really really great. I'm not as down on the CBs as you are. They are not Talib, but I think they are solid. I'm much more concerned about the DLine.

I just don't want anybody to think this team has a chance at a National Championship. We're going to lose to MU. If we MUST lose to MU, those horse****ers better win the whole damned thing.

Ok, well then you and I are not that far off in our views of this year's Jayhawks. I have tempered my expectations since before the season. Still, I never thought they were a national title contender. I just want to get another good bowl game. ;)

BTW, I think Harper and Harris are very solid CBs. The other guys are getting better but they show that they are young at times. The Dline is a weakness, for sure. We don't seem to have anybody that can consistently put pressure on the QB. The Oline has struggled this year, but I think they are looking better and better every week. I don't expect us to beat MU this year, but I would just like to see a competitive game. I think KU is ranked right about where they should be right now.

Sure-Oz 10-11-2008 01:53 PM

Jack Harry thinks they are vastly over ranked and he's a KU homer.

That said they haven't done anything yet to lose their ranking

Pierce 10-11-2008 02:01 PM

All I know is that KU will get rolled by OU next weekend. I just hope KU can come ou of that game with no injuries. They don't stand a chance.

They have a chance. If their offense is hitting on all cylinders they have a chance. About the same chance the Chiefs had to beat the Broncos. Probably won't happen but it could.

KU doesn't stand a chance really unless OU literally completely fails to show up to play.

That was awesome. I liked it almost as much as the time KSU choked on the last game when they had a shot to get into contention for a title.

Bishop?!?!? that shit was late 90's youre thinking Elle Roberson? Because didnt he get into trouble or something right after that and was suspended in the Fiesta Bowl game that season IIRC.

No, it was the 1998 season and it was Michael Bishop. El Roberson and the trouble he got into was right before the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State after the 2003 season, if I recall correctly.

What choke job are you talking about then, i was referring to when KSU beat OU in the Big12 Champ game at Arrowhead a few years back, when Jason White was their QB.

A message to Frazod: We're not frauds.

And a message to everyone who panicked last week after Iowa State: Simmer down, this team is still going to finish with 8 wins (I hope) and play in a bowl.

Struggling 2 weeks in a row to wins against big 12 cellar dwellers? I think that constitutes as frauds. I still see losses for KU coming against Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. Maybe even against Nebraska with the way they are playing today. 6 or 7 wins tops for KU.

Struggling in the first half != struggling all game long

It took a while to get going today, but we won pretty handily.

We did a lot of running that didn't go anywhere in the first half. But then in the second half, we used those same formations that we ran out of in the first half and passed out of them in the 2nd and made some big gains.

Doesn't matter. Struggle at all to score against a team with a potent offense like Missouri, TT, UT, OU, etc. and you will be down by 21 before you know it.

You clearly didn't watch either game. KU is a superior team to both ISU and CU, and deserve their ranking.

So basically we differ in our thinking by one win. I think KU could upset somebody (probably Texas Tech), and you don't.

If you guys beat Texas Tech, it wouldn't be an upset. They are ranked 7th but are really the 6th best team in the Big 12.

That's true, but our defense seems to be playing better in the 2nd half also.

Hopefully that's just a hiccup of the past 2 weeks and something that can be corrected. If not, there's a bunch of losses upcoming.

Eh, pay no attention to that MUron. KU wins at least 8 games this year. I thought they played pretty well today. Yeah, they struggled in the first half. CU is a physical team and KU has been kind of slow starting lately. So what? KU made great adjustments and also played better in the 2nd half. As I recall, CU lost to Texas last week by a similar score. Does that mean that Texas almost sucks as bad as us because they beat CU by an extra TD? ROFL

Oh noes, losing to 3 of the best teams in the nation after taking a step back from winning the Orange Bowl! Yeah, poor frauds, they might have to settle for just any bowl, and have a chance to win consecutive bowl games for the first time ever. Sucks to be them. :deevee:
