Warpaint Nick is the source

The local sports talk is talking to him more and more. He is the insider for them. He reported that Herm is weeding out guys like"Tony and LJ" and is in the process of getting rid of these malcontent types. He reported the reason Tony was not traded is because nobody wanted him.

Hammock Parties 10-15-2008 11:16 AM

Great!

FAX 10-15-2008 11:21 AM

This is good news ... the part about Herm wanting to rid the team of Gonzo and LJ, I mean. If true, it means a severe head-bonking between Herm and Carl is imminent. Those guys are Carl's hand-picked peeps.

Sounds to me like Nick is serving up Carl's special brand of Kool-Aid.

StcChief 10-15-2008 11:26 AM

LJ depends on his "trial" Off season he may be gone.... TG off season trade may get some traction, depends on how season and injuries progress at TE around league.

Chiefnj2 10-15-2008 11:26 AM

Herm wants to get rid of 75% of the offense? Sounds about right.

Rooster 10-15-2008 11:27 AM

This has got to be the most inept professional franchise. I am in ah of the idiots runnning this thing. :doh!:

Mr. Laz 10-15-2008 11:28 AM

Nick and source should NEVER, EVER be used in the same sentence.

To be fair, he's been the source of consternation frequently.

The local DJs were laughing about what a homer he is.

With "no idea" what to do about replacing them.

I love how often our coach expresses absolute bewilderment at how badly our team has gotten destroyed.

He's like a cow staring at a new gate.

FAX 10-15-2008 11:31 AM

The thing is that, should we continue to lose and should the young players begin to mature and open their eyes and look around and say, "What the heck is this?", they'll all be malcontents. Then, Herm will have to get rid of all of them!! We'll be rebuilding for decades!!!

FAX

Reerun_KC 10-15-2008 11:33 AM

maybe just maybe Herm is more of the problem than the solution....

philfree 10-15-2008 11:34 AM

So Tony's a malcontent? Herm is the ****ing malcontent if he can't deal with actually having a HOF caliber player on his team. Herm doesn't like great players who were drafted high. He likes undrafted free agents who he can boss around like a bunch of kids.

decades?

we've already had decades of this s***...

it'll be more like centuries before this team is a contender...

It's like what you say to a dentist because tooth extraction is less painful than being a Chiefs fan.

Buzz 10-15-2008 11:46 AM

So what are the chances Carl throws Herm under the bus and sh*t cans his a** at the end of the season?

Isn't WPI the place you went to work for after selling this place, IIRC?

triple 10-15-2008 11:49 AM

Tony wasn't traded because no one wanted him? OK, Nick Athan, that's why all these other real media outlets say that 4 or 5 teams were in the mix. I guess I'll just trust your fanboi magazine that probably has copy written in crayon and whose main source is Madden '04 for game boy

Close.

I tried to sell this place to Scout (with an out clause) but Kyle wisely wouldn't go along with it.

So, I left to partner with Nick (1 year contract). That didn't work out at all for a variety of reasons, many of which are probably my fault.

Nick never reported that. We've been reporting the entire time that multiple teams were in the mix.

DTLB58 10-15-2008 12:02 PM

I would be more willing to believe the other report that the Giants offered a 3rd at the last minute and Carl said I can't do it for any less than a 2nd.

Seriously, How could the Giants not "want" a Tony Gonzalez added to their offense?

I'm thinking they could have said alright we will give you a 2nd and Carl would have said now it's a 1.

Nothing like that at all. But the "partnership" didn't play out as a partnership whatsoever. I don't want to rehash it. If you're really interested use the search function. I've moved on to bigger and better things. I'm sure Nick has moved on as well.

Wrong again gochiefs he said a 5th rounder was the best offer, and said that "the reason he was not traded was no team wanted him" on 1410 am in Wichita Kansas yesterday around 5:00 pm.

He said basically the same thing on the radio here.

Our disagreements aside this guy is a fan and I know you work with him. I also know you aspire to be a sports writer. You need to be objective and Nick is not, and that is why he is not taken serious by fans or the Chiefs. For the record he also said the best offer was a 4th rounder that hinged on Tony redoing his contract which he said Tony's people balked at.

I hope you use your experience with Warpaint to develop your writing skills but move more towards forming your own opinions. Towing the company line will allow to tag along but never be taken seriously. Your friend tows the company line so he gets to tag along but is the guy who everyone rolls their eyes at.
