Referee tackles Gamecocks QB

Interesting...

You make the call. Did he intentionally tackle him??

gblowfish 10-20-2008 07:25 PM

That can't be real...
If so, he tackles like Jarrod Page...

Spott 10-20-2008 07:28 PM

Damn, the ref actually took steps toward him and lowered his shoulder to tackle him.

KCFalcon59 10-20-2008 07:28 PM

Sure looks like he was measuring up for the hit.

Coach 10-20-2008 07:28 PM

Looked pretty intentional to me.

Demonpenz 10-20-2008 07:28 PM

sometimes i read posts. Then when i refresh it adds stuff to the posts and there is no "edited" by wierd

MIAdragon 10-20-2008 07:31 PM

no way thats real

Ebolapox 10-20-2008 07:31 PM

heh, that's ****ed up. looks real to me, but I'm no fraud expert. I'd assume that would be headlining sportscenter.

Hydrae 10-20-2008 07:31 PM

It looks like the ref forgot he was a ref and thought he was playing linebacker.

in the 60's the ref was a 3 year starter LB for the Kentucky Wildcats

It's real. They were talking about it on sportscenter earlier today and they said he played linebacker in college.

BigVE 10-20-2008 07:37 PM

That a-hole should be fired immediately. That's just plain ignorant right there. Looks pretty blatant to me.

StcChief 10-20-2008 07:37 PM

yeah. Instincts took over. wow.

mikey23545 10-20-2008 07:38 PM

I can only assume the ref found himself trapped in the middle of the action, and was just trying to sidle out of it. Maybe his "tackle" was just him trying to brace up for the collision.

But yeah...That looked pretty weird....

Hydrae 10-20-2008 07:38 PM

Did SC wind up scoring on that drive or did this potentially cost them the game?

They scored a TD on the drive, IIRC.

gblowfish 10-20-2008 07:42 PM

Maybe we should sign him. Chiefs need anybody who can stop the run right now.

Sure-Oz 10-20-2008 07:51 PM

It is real and yes it is intentional...

I heard he used to play LB or something and its like he had a flashback or something...

The SEC said that there was nothing wrong with that, pretty damn ridiculous, he made the tackle and said he was in the correct position. Yeah i'd say he can teach the chiefs LB's how to hit. He should get suspended or fired, no way that should happen.

Sure-Oz 10-20-2008 07:52 PM

If I were the QB i would've been like "wtf are you doing?" Wonder what the coach had to say

Rain Man 10-20-2008 07:55 PM

Wow. That was pretty blatant.

kstater 10-20-2008 07:56 PM

I don't care if was intentional or not, he should be let go immediatley. You can't have that look like that.

Mr. Laz 10-20-2008 07:59 PM

if i was the offense i would call a power running play right over his ass

luv 10-20-2008 08:00 PM

One of the guys we were tailgating with Sunday morning asked if we saw it. He said he called a friend's attention to what he thought he'd seen. He kept replaying it on his tivo (or whatever that is). He said he thought it was intentional, and was surprised that no one was called on it.

Ultra Peanut 10-20-2008 08:00 PM

That was awesome. Clap clap, clapclapclap.

pr_capone 10-20-2008 08:01 PM

Pretty ballsy though to be an older guy and take on a college kid in full pads.... muchmore so as he actually stopped the QBs forward momentum.

kstater 10-20-2008 08:02 PM

ROFL

This was in the related videos.

You have about 15 minutes to edit a post before the "edited" message shows up.

Rooster 10-20-2008 08:09 PM

Very strange.

JBucc 10-20-2008 08:14 PM

It's like that BWW commercial. "This one's going into overtime!"

KCCHIEFS27 10-20-2008 08:17 PM

Wasn't intentional, but that QB needs to hit the weight room..he just got flattened by a 60 year old referee..

eazyb81 10-20-2008 08:18 PM

What the hell? If that is a real video, that ref needs to get canned ASAP. F'n bullsh#t, I'd be pissed if I were a South Carolina fan.

chagrin 10-20-2008 08:25 PM

That is obviously intentional and he should be banned for life from being an official or involved in sports in any capacity

stlchiefs 10-20-2008 08:25 PM

Old man had a flashback.

smittysbar 10-20-2008 08:39 PM

They were throwing a fit about it today on PTI. They were saying it was blatantly intentional and he should be fired immediately, I tend to agree

You can edit posts within 10 minutes or so without adding the "edited by" text.
