Who do you want as your next head coach?
Who would you like to see in KC?
I'd personally like to see Steve Spagnuola. |

But first we have to replace the GM.... Without a new GM, the coach will fail... |
1. Somebody in their 40s.
2. Somebody who has worked both sides of the ball as an AC (successfully). 3. Somebody who has worked with a solid quarterback. 4. Somebody who has worked with a winning organization. FAX |

Jim Schwartz

He's a great candidate, but it's tough to say without knowing who's available.

Jim Schwartz

Cowher or Garrett. I highly doubt those two would see the red sea though.

GUNTHER

What's the argument against Cowher. He's the ideal selection in my opinion. |

I'd like to have a younger coach. Cowher's another Schottenheimer disciple.
He did have sense enough to make the necessary changes and finally win the big game at the end of his tenure in Pittsburgh, but I want a young guy. |

How about Trent Green?
He might be pretty good. FAX |
Didn't you hear? Its going to be Marty!!!

I would agree that I do not want to see Cowher. He suffered burnout in Pittsburg. I'd like to see someone young, hungry, willing to push players, and wanting to see quality on both sides of the ball.
The guy I wanted to see just took over in San Francisco. I don't think he'll be available. I'd rather see an offensive minded coach come in who has enough confidence to allow a DC to come in and run the defense like it needs to be run. I don't want to see any more cover 2 or zone blitzes. I also don't want to see any don't play to lose offenses. |
I would also like someone with an offensive mind, and if he is clueless on defense I would like someone who will bring in a good DC and allow him to bring in good coaches. I'm sick of bringing in coaches from the buddy system, and forcing coaches to coach something they don't know.

Besides - he needs to stay in Washington. :D |

Let's get the ridiculous and impossible out of the way...
<del>Bill Cowher Marty Schottenheimer Jason Garrett Josh McDaniels Steve Spagnoulo Monte Kiffin Mike Holmgren Mike Martz</del> Those are the names that are mentioned most around here. Newsflash: NONE of them are coming here. That leaves retreads like Brian Billick or Mike Nolan - or someone that 95% of the board has never heard of. So far, the only guy that's been mentioned around here that makes any sense whatsoever is Jim Schwartz. He's young. He got his start under Belichick. He believes in physical, smashmouth defense. He has personnel experience. I bet the 49ers are kicking themselves for picking Mike Nolan over Schwartz in 2005. He's a guy that has to be on the list, and the top of the list at that. |

I remember when Billick was supposed to go in Baltimore and revitalize the offense. lol

I think Schwartz is an excellent suggestion, but as everyone has already stated, nothing will change unless CP is removed first.
I hate to be a rumor monger, but I've heard from 2 different sources that the intent at present is to bring in Marty as GM and Cowher as HC. I don't think it's likely, but they shouldn't be crossed off the list just yet. |
Quote:
Oddly enough, Carl's top choice was Bellichik, but Bill declined to interview for the position as he wanted to stay on the east coast. I think he was the Jets DC at the time. We ended up with Gunther as HC unfortunately... |

I'd be all for Cowher as head coach, because much like Parcells, you just know that guy is going to be respected in the locker room, is going to build a team that plays tough as nails, and is going to win. But I would be shocked to see it happen.. |
My pick would be Jim Schwartz

I have serious man love for Jon Gruden......Do you Love Football?!

I HATE these types of threads becausue I always respond and never seem to get the HC I want. I remember doing the same thing during DV's last year. I said that I wanted Mike McCarthy then. I actually thought there was a shot being that he was in KC for awhile and hoped that Carl liked him. I got Herm ****ING Edwards instead...:cuss:

What about Rex Ryan? I love the way Baltimore plays defense.

Anybody of this list:
Cowher Schottenheimer Holmgren Heck I'd even take Dennis Green? Yes "THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! NOW IF YOU WANNA CROWN THERE A**ES, CROWN EM! BUT THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!" *All these coaches have one thing in common, they know how to win. The Chiefs need to hire a winner. I say focus on the most important thing winning. Don't get too carried away on some of the mistakes they made in the past. Every coach makes mistakes even the best of the them. |

Hell, according to CP, I'm not a REAL fan, so I guess I wouldn't have any opinion on what a REAL GM and HC would be. ;) |

I get why you crossed everyone else off the list, but I don;t get why Spagnoulo is crossed off. Is there a reason he wouldn't come to KC? |
Quote:
He's the highest paid DC in football, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him be the defensive equivilent to Jason Garrett. He took his name out of the ring for the Redskins job that was his for the asking. Regardless, I find it highly unlikely he'd come here, or even be a candidate. JMO. |
