Who do you want as your next head coach?

Who would you like to see in KC?

I'd personally like to see Steve Spagnuola.

1. Somebody in their 40s.
2. Somebody who has worked both sides of the ball as an AC (successfully).
3. Somebody who has worked with a solid quarterback.
4. Somebody who has worked with a winning organization.

What's the argument against Cowher. He's the ideal selection in my opinion.

Micjones 10-27-2008 02:31 PM

I'd like to have a younger coach. Cowher's another Schottenheimer disciple.
He did have sense enough to make the necessary changes and finally win the big game at the end of his tenure in Pittsburgh, but I want a young guy.

I would agree that I do not want to see Cowher. He suffered burnout in Pittsburg. I'd like to see someone young, hungry, willing to push players, and wanting to see quality on both sides of the ball.

The guy I wanted to see just took over in San Francisco. I don't think he'll be available.

I'd rather see an offensive minded coach come in who has enough confidence to allow a DC to come in and run the defense like it needs to be run. I don't want to see any more cover 2 or zone blitzes. I also don't want to see any don't play to lose offenses.

RustShack 10-27-2008 02:44 PM

I would also like someone with an offensive mind, and if he is clueless on defense I would like someone who will bring in a good DC and allow him to bring in good coaches. I'm sick of bringing in coaches from the buddy system, and forcing coaches to coach something they don't know.

I think Schwartz is an excellent suggestion, but as everyone has already stated, nothing will change unless CP is removed first.

I hate to be a rumor monger, but I've heard from 2 different sources that the intent at present is to bring in Marty as GM and Cowher as HC. I don't think it's likely, but they shouldn't be crossed off the list just yet.

I actually pushed for Carl to jump into the Billick sweepstakes once Marty resigned, but unfortunately the Ravens had pretty much wrapped up a deal with him by then.

Oddly enough, Carl's top choice was Bellichik, but Bill declined to interview for the position as he wanted to stay on the east coast. I think he was the Jets DC at the time.

We ended up with Gunther as HC unfortunately...

Marty as GM doesn't make sense to me, especially with Cowher as coach. That's two big egos right there. Cowher is going to want control and final say wherever he goes, and I don't see Marty being that type of guy.

I'd be all for Cowher as head coach, because much like Parcells, you just know that guy is going to be respected in the locker room, is going to build a team that plays tough as nails, and is going to win. But I would be shocked to see it happen..

Just being realistic.

He's the highest paid DC in football, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him be the defensive equivilent to Jason Garrett.

He took his name out of the ring for the Redskins job that was his for the asking.

Regardless, I find it highly unlikely he'd come here, or even be a candidate.
