I 'll be congratulating myself on not getting the stomach bug that's been hanging around our house for the last five days.

Lying around belly up, and gorging myself on leftovers.

I'll be sitting home, enjoying leftover food and booze, watching the dumbasses that engage in Black Friday activities get trampled on the news over shit they don't need.

Playing in an annual tackle football game with friends I see but once or twice a year. I hope it's REALLY cold!

Actually, that's what I'm doing as well. We've got a few kegs of beer for the post-game festivities.

They say the Friday after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. Not for the old Creedster. For me, Black Friday’s when I work out all my problems. I don’t need to waste my cash on fancy “therapists” or “court-appointed analysts.” Instead, I just suit up and get ready for battle. That’s how I celebrate the fourth Friday of every November.


This year, I didn’t even go to sleep after Thanksgiving. I was so jazzed up from the massive portion of cranberry sauce that I couldn’t stop pacing. At around 2:30am, I decided it was time to start getting ready. I wrapped my body in newspapers and Black Friday ads until I had a good enough base to know I’d be okay if anybody had a shiv. Then I started gathering my weapons. Instead of brass knuckles (which I always lose), I found these really sharp plastic spider rings that were leftover from Halloween. For poking and tripping, I grabbed a cane from one of the geezers at the soup kitchen. [SIDE NOTE: People underestimate the value of old man weapons. I’m allowed to walk around with a cane anywhere I damn well please and that cane comes in handy, let me tell you. It’s just one of those social conventions that works in favor of the elderly – same goes for early bird senior specials at restaurants.]



So after I got myself ready, I headed over to the mall. That place usually gets rocking at around five in the morning, so I made sure to be there by four to snag a good place in line. I find the toy stores to be the center of the mayhem most years, so I headed there first. All these parents were just foaming at the mouth to get their hands on the latest Cabbage Patch Elmo Pokey-Man Nintendos and I couldn’t wait to get in their way. As soon as the doors opened, I started a stampede. I’ve got old standbys that I yell out to really heat things up. “They’ve only got three left!” “Huge sale in Aisle Five!” “That jerk is taking all of them!” Nobody has any idea what I’m referring to, but they get all worked up nonetheless. Almost right away, people started shoving and pushing and where was I? Right in the middle of all the action.


I started out by poking people with my cane and scratching them with my rings and pretty soon, I didn’t care so much about sales tax or cold weather or paternity suits – all the things that stick in my craw, really. Nobody got seriously injured and all my bottled up feelings just disappeared, so it was a win-win for everyone, in my opinion.


Once I finished at the toy store, I moved on to the electronics stores where I started over from scratch and instigated a whole new riot. It felt great. I’ll tell you what -- this is shaping up to be one of the best holiday/therapy seasons of all time.

Ours isn't that well organized, but beer will probably be necessary after the beatings cease.

I might look for some deals. After 8 am though, I'm not waiting in a line at 5:30 for anything.

If I buy anything on Friday, it will be online.

I can sit on my ass, all day, any day. Go to many websites or ebay and find better deals than you will find in these stores. And you know what, they even deliver it to my house. People are fucking morons sometimes.

I can tell you, with 100%- guaranteed- certainty, that if Apple has any sales on Friday, they will be the same online as they are in the retail store. For your sake, stay away from the Plaza or Leawood stores.. it's not worth it!!

Same thing I do every year. Sleeping late from a Tryptophan and beer induced coma.

I refer to my prior statement from last year:

This years Black Friday sales are the worst I've seen, ever. Last years sales weren't that good either, but quite a few items on this years list are cheaper now than the "sale price." The only item that sticks out would be the Arcade Xbox 360 w/ Free Guitar Hero III bundle at Walmart. You can buy a refurb 20 gig HDD from MS for $30.

If you still feel the need to go out and suffer, here are a few tips.

-It's going to be cold, so dress in plenty of layers. I'd strongly suggest wearing multiple pairs of socks, sweatshirt+coat, etc.
-Bring a friend. Sitting in line just playing pocket pool for hours in the cold makes the time go by very slowly.
-Make friends with people in line. This comes in handy so you can save your spot in line while you go out back and take a dump in a gatorade bottle, or whatever.
-Don't take any shit from the asshat that lets their entire family cut in line at the last moment. This seems to happen every year.
-Hit up the lesser popular chains like Radioshak, Staples, etc. The lines are a lot less pathetic than places like Best Buy.

I haven't actually participated in the Black Friday hysteria in forever, but I did wait in line for a Wii when they first came out. In general, I'd strongly suggest avoiding it altogether.

It is between going to WalMart and letting a bunch of idiots knock me over and knock my wig off so I can sue wall marts ass off, OR, sitting in a tree stand waiting for bulwinkle, hmmm. Think I will go for the tree.

I ususally wake up early and head on out to wal mart or Circuit city to get some deals. I am a bigger dude that lifts alot of weights. So I tend to get what I want. I just hate the people who aren't young enough or strong enough to compete without help. I got run over by some scooters and rascals last year. I am going out to my stores and cliping the brake, steering devices, anything I can get my hands on so they can crash into a knive display next to the lemon stand
